The new Gus’s BBQ specializes in Traditional BBQ - California Style. Dive into a plate of Memphis style baby back ribs or St. Louis spare ribs. You’ll be back for their juicy Carolina style pulled pork sandwich, delicious cast iron cornbread or one of many 100% Nebraska Chuck burgers. In the mood for classic comfort food? You’ll leave knowing exactly why Gus’s food has been hailed, “….so good that we found ourselves eating more than we’d imagined” by S. Irene Virbila, Los Angeles Times.
Recently named one of the top 10 BBQ restaurants on the west coast by Sunset Magazine, Gus’s also boasts a super hip bar that serves an impressive list of bourbon and draft beer!
The manager did not know how to process my $10 reward voucher.
Great food! Good service! Had my reservation and good atmosphere! Thank you! We’ll be back!
Great service, great food!!!!
Five ladies all enjoyed our food and drinks. It’s a great neighborhood place, but is very noisy and hard to carry on a good conversation which is what we get together for. That said, I still love Gus’s. The jalapeño margarita was good, could have used a little more heat. Sliders, pulled pork Caprese sandwich (!), brisket sandwich, wedge salad, pulled pork sandwich - all declared as very good.
Great cuts of meat - the brisket was really nice, not too fat, but tender, and the tri-tip was even better, which I don't think I've ever experienced. Sauce is good, but won't blow you away. The greens and the cheese grits were subpar by my standards, but probably passable if you didn't grow up with that food. Service was great from the hostess to the waiter to the busser. I'd stop in again if I'm in Pasadena.
The food is amazing. The service was excellent. The place is a little noisy so no quiet conversations. And like everything is Pasadena parking is challenging. But we would definately go back even though the restaurant is a little out of the way for us. For reference we had the corn bread, ribs-baby back and spare ribs, brisket and tri-tip. All was great!
Great as always. Their fried chicken is sneaky good.
Gus's BBQ makes excellent food from BBQ to fried chicken to cornbread. The service staff is always great. But make sure to make reservations in advance because the place is always jumpin' and without reservations you may have to wait a long time.
Excellent service, AMAZING food and overall great experience.
Keep it up!
Excellent food and service
the service was a little slow even though it seemed like they had a full staff. I ordered the combo of baby back ribs and brisket but the portions were small. Little disappointed
Love the staff and great food and cocktails. Our favorite Sunday dinner
Food is always good at Gus’s. It is not cheap but it is so good. Excellent customer service is just icing on the cake.
We were seated right away and not in the tiny tables next to the bar. We really appreciate it when there are booths available, they are given to 2 person parties. I hate having to eat in such a tiny space of a table especially when you order big meals. I hope they keep this up.
I eat at Gus’s a lot. It is my go-to place. If you love barbecue ribs and fried chicken, you’ll make this your regular stop for lunch, brunch, or dinner.
Gus's is a very great place to eat at. Their Food is excellent & the Service is great! We plan to go back soon for more Ribs, Fied Chicken, CornBread & Beef Brisket. Keep up the great work!
Love this place, awesome bbq and great service. Very clean
Absolutely delicious baby back ribs, but the bbq brick chicken is my favorite. Juicy and tender - portions are large so hubby & I share the combo. Love the taste and texture of the sweet potato fries, and the cornbread is a must!
Food and service are outstanding. Great people work there -- Jairo, Edward, Frenchie, and others.
The best BBQ ever! The fried chicken is scrumptious! All the food is delicious and a treat to your tummy! It is worth the drive to Pasadena , but make sure to make a reservation, as it stays quite busy.
The employees are welcoming and so helpful. A beautiful atmosphere to enjoy South Pasadena.
A little birdie told me a new location is coming soon to Porter Ranch- I cant wait!
Enjoyed the ribs very much but brisket was too salty for my liking. Sides were very good. Potato salad onion strings cream corn and red beans and rice. Very noisy. If you sit in the front booth you will have other guests waiting for their table standing in front of yours. So if you don’t mind having someones butt in your face it’s ok. I personally minded. I didn’t appreciate other guests using the top of my booth as their drink rest. Not the restaurants fault. Just oblivious people. I would recommend sitting in the back room or getting take out.
Me and my wife have always gone to Gus’s for our birthday dinners and for our anniversary. We have a recommended then to friends. After tonight, we are going to need to re-evaluate that.
We were seated in the back room by the bar, which is an echo chamber, with two loud groups and me and my wife could not even hear each other.
As for the meal, it seems the portions have gotten smaller. I had the fish and chips(fries) and there was only a handful of fries. As for the fish, it was ok but small. My wife had the brick chicken and it seemed smaller then in the past.
For dessert, we both had the sundae. There was literally twice as much whipped cream then ice cream. As for the ice cream, in the past you would get two really nice scoops. Tonight, both of us barely had a single scoop.
As for service, we ended up with three different people, as our primary server Casey was “busy” taken care of one of the tables next to us.
Sadly, even before we left my wife and I were talking about never coming back.
It seemed extra dark on our most recent visit.
Waitress was awesome and food was great and amazing priced
Excellent food and service
Always a great time at Gus’s.
Being coming here for over 10 yrs and food is amazing everytime. Now my friends are hook
Always fresh and flavorful. The service is wonderful and it's the best BBQ in town!!!
Gotta have the southern fried chicken and the brisket. The smoked sausage can be a bit disappointing because it's kinda bland (for smoked sausage). But...there's no accounting for taste, anyway...
The food and service was first class. When are you opening store at Porter Ranch?
SERVICE AND FOOD IS AMAZING I LOVE IT! Every time I go I leave extremely satisfied because of their great service!
We had an awesome experience from the food to the service! It was so delicious we ordered extra food to go and have already planned our next visit!
It's always good food and drinks at Gus's.
We dined at Gus's Bbq for the first time with friends on a Saturday evening. Reservations are a must as it fills up quickly. The food was good. The service was not warm but was good. Drinks took a long time to arrive.
Always good. Great food, served by people who seem to enjoy working there.
Gus's is a great BBQ restaurant but don't sleep the breakfast menu the chicken and waffles are very good. And the bar has very good drinks.
Love Gus's. All their appetizers are fire, best non Mexican nachos Haha, wings are off the chain. Good southern cooking. I reccomend
My 19 yr old's fave place to celebrate. The drinks are generous and well made. Wait staff is attentive and tolerant. We usually come with 5+ in our party. That's a challenge no matter how polite we are. Those deviled eggs are scrumptious. Been coming here for years. First time ordering tri-tip; divine!
See you soon...
Amazing BBQ, tasty side dishes, out-of-this-world corn bread!
Great place very happy, my family and I injoy our self, thank you
Wanted to try the breakfast. Very good!!!!
