About Gus's BBQ
A South Pasadena landmark since 1946, Gus’s BBQ was purchased and remodeled by brothers Chris & John Bicos -- owners of The Original Tops and Magnolia House in Pasadena.
The new Gus’s BBQ specializes in Traditional BBQ - California Style. Dive into a plate of Memphis style baby back ribs or St. Louis spare ribs. You’ll be back for their juicy Carolina style pulled pork sandwich, delicious cast iron cornbread or one of many 100% Nebraska Chuck burgers. In the mood for classic comfort food? Try their Jack’s Mac and Cheese smothered in 4 cheeses, applewood smoked bacon, crimini mushrooms & drizzled with white truffle oil. You’ll leave knowing exactly why Gus’s food has been hailed, “….so good that we found ourselves eating more than we’d imagined” by S. Irene Virbila, Los Angeles Times.
Recently named one of the top 10 BBQ restaurants on the west coast by Sunset Magazine, Gus’s also boasts a super hip bar that serves an impressive list of bourbon and draft beer!

Gus's BBQ Ratings and Reviews
It was our first time there, certainly not the last! There was nothing that we ordered and didn't Love!! The Cornbread, ribs, brisket, fried cream corn, fried pickles and unfadeable smokey guacamole!
All Super Delicious! Great Staff! And Clean all around! Thank You, Gus'S
Our family had never been to Gus’s but had heard good reviews. We made a reservation and we were seated promptly. The server and host saw that we had a birthday and made a concerted effort to make the birthday girl feel special. The food was great. We had appetizers, ribs, chicken, drinks and had a great dinner for 4 adults and two kids.
Gus’s is a noisy place but we had a great time eating and talking a little louder. Great for kids and adults. We will come again
Was meeting friends here that I hadn't seen in a while. Staff was very friendly and knowledge. Food was outstanding. We got there at 5:30p and it was empty...left around 7:30p and it was packed (Thursday). Highly recommend a reservation, walk-ins had a wait.
The reservation was honored with a short wait. My wife and I have been to Gus's several times and have found the food to be better than ordinary. That having been said, the spare ribs on this occasion were not up to standard. They were unusually dry and hard, so much so that they were replaced; however, the second set was really no better than the first. I understand that restaurants have a difficult time maintaining consistency, but this was bad. We'll go back, but we were not satisfied with this experience.
The breakfasts here are excellent Quality, fresh ingredients and a friendly wait staff all add up to a above average breakfast. I have never had lunch here, but really enjoy the BBQ and all the comfort food items. All this with a full bar make for a place that remains on the top of my list of frequent "Go to" options.
Our decision to bring our guest from out of town paid off! The experience and food was delicious!! We ordered the Southern Fried Chicken, and Spare Ribs, The waitress was freindly and attentive to our party. Our guest were expressed with the restaurant and the menu. Over the years of coming to Gus's BBQ, has always been a great experience.
Great BBQ comfort food. The Brick Chicken is fantastic. Really great BBQ sauce and not too spicy. The Cast Iron Corn Bread is perfect with their Jalapeno Jelly. It is served warm out of the pan at the table. Servers are friendly and accommodating. Prices are reasonable for quantity and quality of food. A little too noisy when busy.
