Guppy's Ratings and Reviews
Really enjoyed the crab guacamole, the shrimp saute over fried green tomatoes, and the ahi tuna salad. We added a nice bottle of wine and it was a perfect early dinner or late lunch. Made it back to our condo to a nice sunset walk. Service was fine and allowed us to focus on each other's company.
Old friends were in town so we got together for dinner at Guppy's. As always, the food was very good - we had a variety of different meals from seafood to steak. Our server was attentive and not hovering. Prices are moderate to high, as is typical in the beach tourist area. Guppy's is on our list of favorites.
Having dined here in the past , the food, service and deals are very good. Went with friends that have not been here before, and they were very impressed with all, especially the early dinner menu and happy hour. Our waiter Bernard was very attentive and knowedgeable.
Have been going there for a long time - always really good. The only problem seems to be the open table booking . I can try to make a reservation a few days ahead - and it comes none for 2 1/2 hrs. from the time rquested. I can go on in 1 hr. later and there is room. Something is not right. Perhaps you should check this out.
Service was excellent. Had special of 3 dish combination- snapper, swordfish, scrimp with small side for each. Quantities were just right- leave you satisfied without being stuffed. All three dishes excellent. Preparation and presentation great. Will be a must return on next visit.
Great anniversary dinner at Guppys. Had the grouper which was delicious. My husband had the shrimp amd grits which was really good, and the crispy, spicy sausage was his favorite part. He had a shrimp cocktail for his appetizer and they were huge shrimp with tasty sauce. I had the spring rolls which were tasty, just the soy dipping sauce was very salty. Highly recommend the hot apple pie for dessert.
The chilled shrimp green tea soba noodles with raw carrot and cashews special feature was absolutely wonderful. The Indian Rocks Beach chowder is always outstandingly delicious. I love the hot pepper sauce and sherry you have the option to add which I always do.
Guppys on the Beach is a great casual beach restaurant. There is a wide range of dishes and prices. Their Asian Tuna Salad is my "crave-worthy" dish. It's pretty and so perfect, with the crunch of the wonton strips, the cucumbers and the cashews, and the sweetness of the tuna. There are lots of other seafood dishes and some meat dishes for those who don't like fish. This place is very popular, so make reservations.
My Mahi Mahi was outstanding. Good portion size of the fish with a wonderful coating & cooked to perfection, but the accompanying lemon spinach—though tasting wonderful—was a skimpy portion. The grilled octopus of the octopus appetizer was okay, but drenched in too much sauce. Barrata appetizer was a bit small, & again the flavor of the cheese was overpowered by sauces. Neither was bad, but I’ll Look for other appetizers on my next visit. Ho-hum house salad.
All 4 dinners at our table were fine, and the service was better than adequate. I’ll go back, but I’ll stick to grilled, blackened or baked fish—& anything I order I will ask that the sauces be put on the side. All the appetizers, salads & sides I ate on this & previous visits I can cook as well or better at home, but I can’t begin to prepare or cook fish as well as Guppy’s does.
Food was great. The fresh oysters were sweet and salty, should have ordered a dozen. My NY steak was done perfectly, caramelized outer and cold raw center. My partner had the lobster ravioli, and unlike many places you could actually taste the lobster in the ravioli. The other diners has seafood. My brother has swordfish and my cousins the seafood trio. All enjoyed their meals. The service was great. Attentive but not pushy. Can't wait to go back.
Oh man! Of the 3 diners tonight, we all said we had the best. I had a bite of the other meals, and indeed, although they were good, mine was the best. Shrimp Saute. Absolutely delicious!!! Dessert was a banana nut bread French Toast with a carmel/butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream. To give up the first born for!!!!! Our server, David, was knowledgeable and engaging. This was truly a wonderful experience.
The food and service is excellent. My husband had one of the specials and loved it. I stuck with the crab cakes, which are fantastic. Salad is delicious. Our server, Megan, was helpful and friendly. We ate outside, and even though the temperature was COOL, it was warm with the heaters and plastic covers. We enjoyed the evening and would recommend Guppy's for great seafood.
With a large group and outside seating on a cool night not an option, I opted for Open Table. Table was ready as we arrived. Inside can be a bit noisy but we were festive. Robert, the BEST server, was assigned to us. With many different entrees chosen, he patiently explained all. I go to Guppy's at least twice per month and every time wonder why not more often. It is wonderful with amazing food.
We made a reservation through open window but were offered only outdoor seating in the sea fog. Apparently if you don't tick indoor the reservation defaults to out door. We may as well not have had a reservation as we were the last to be seated. We also had a coupon for 25% of f which was given to the waitress before ordering and she put in her pocket. When the bill came there was no discount. When mentioned the bill was recalculated. Did she err or is this the policy. No discount unless you complain. It was extremely noisy as expected. The service was good as was the food. If your dining late I would recommend this establishment.
