Guppy's Ratings and Reviews
Our server Rebecka was excellent and the food very good. She was very attentive throughout our dinner - thank you
Our main concern (area to improve) is the sound level. While conversations are understandable, the bus staff were extremely noisy when clearing tables and prepping next table - actually throwing things in dish bin and on tables. This lack of concern for guests took away from the overall good service.
Have been to Guppy's many times before and enjoyed the meals. Not so this time. Main course, crab cake, was very bland, and garlic mashed potatoes were cold. Not a good experience. I can understand if there were problems in the kitchen on a busy night, but the restaurant wasn't full at all. Not sure if I will try it again. Too bad.
It was just OK! Coconut crusted shrimp were small and there were only 6 in the full order. Salmon was just OK also with a slight fishy taste. The portions were really quite small for the prices. The scallops were the best. Salads were good and the bread was good. Wouldn’t recommend because there are to many other places in this area that are much better.
Guppy's is a outstanding restaurant. The food is of high quality and the staff is great from hostess, bartenders, bus people and the wait staff is outstanding. We do not go as much as we would like only a few time a year as we live 40 miles each way, but always stop when we are on the Gulf. The seafood is done to perfection and very imaginative. On visit Paul the manager stop to check to make sure everything was done right.
My husband, daughter and I ate here on the first night of our last minute getaway. It was delicious! The oysters on the half shell were fresh, and the Chargrilled Octopus was so good. My husband had the Chef’s Special Raimbow Peppercorn Tuna entree and it was so yummy. I had the Seafood Bowl which was to die for in a Saffron broth, and the drinks were amazing. The service was great! I highly recommend Guppys!
Great place right across the street from the beach. My friend and I had a great lunch together. She loved the fish tacos, just enough spice paired with a fruit salad to cool it back down. I had the coconut shrimp. It was good but since I had a hair in my veggies, I had to take off a star. (It was definatly not mine, my friends, or the waiters.) Because I was with good company, by the beach, without the kids, I didn't mention it nor did it ruin my day. The hostess allowed us to leave our cars there and even printed a receipt for us to display in the windshield so we could end our lunch with a walk on the beach.
We've been to Guppy's many times and it has always been fabulous. This time, while the service and the presentation was first rate, we felt the food was quite good, not great. Nothing at all wrong with it and you can say it's a matter of opinion, but both my wife and I felt it lacked seasoning, and zing. The fried oyster apoetizer (cooked perfectly) had a blah mayo/tomato topping. The wife's grouper was good and my snapper was fine but lacked the distinguishing flavor of "great". Still, we will go back and try it next time, looking for the culinary thrill we've found at Guppy's in the past.
Very disappointing considering all the positives we had heard. Calamari was very good, but both our entrees were less than hoped. My ribs were dry and my wife's crab cakes had an unusual/sour taste to them. When we questioned the crab cakes taste to the waitress, as my wife was finishing the first of the two, she took the plate, said she would talk to the manager. When she came back, she had the check, indicated the crab was taken off the bill, and left. No offer for coffee or dessert. Also when we made reservations we indicated where asked, that this dinner was celebrating my wife's birthday. Apparently this info isn't used by the restaurant, since no mention was made of this by any of the staff.
Haven't been in a few years since they redid the interior. It used to be Florida Funky. I have to drive 40 minutes up the Coast, but I tell you it is worth it. The freshest seafood you will find. The menu is expansive; it is hard to choose. Fabulous apps. Terrific sides you can order ala carte. But! Each dinner comes with a salad and side. It is an amazing value. There are daily specials and an extensive wine list. Casual. Absolutely one of the best.
I have been coming to Guppys ever since they opened. I watched them expand their location for addititional seating without skipping a beat. They use local seafood and regional produce. While their everyday menu has amazing variety and is frequently updated, but their daily specials are vast and inventive. If you have never been here before, do yourself a favor and drop in, you have earned it!
We booked our table the day before for a Friday evening. We arrived and were seated straight away. Our waiter was very friendly and had a good knowledge of the menu. He gave us a good run down on specials etc which was very helpful. The food arrived in really good time and drinks were topped up quickly despite the restaurant being very busy. The food was great and we ate everything, even forced down a pudding - apple pie with cinnamon ice-cream - lush. We're here on holiday from the UK and I'm so pleased I found this place. We hope to go back if we get the time. We couldn't fault anything at all.
