I'd love to say Gumbo's was delicious, but we arrived in time for our reservation and they were closed. There was no sign, no info online, just a closed restaurant with no explanation. My husband and I made the reservation for our wedding anniversary, and ended up having to go somewhere else. So very disappointed.

It was closed. No longer in business. Very disappointing. I do not know how Open Table checks on restaurants listed to see if they are still in operation.

We had a reservation for 5:45 for Gumbo's on Friday, July 14th, and the restaurant was closed. No sign on the door, no one inside...nothing. So I'm not sure what is going on; I guess they must be closed for good? The other restaurant next door was closed too, though they had a sign in their window. Bummer, as I really enjoyed this restaurant.

Great drinks and happy hour specials on both food and beverages. We had the sea bass and tilapia Pontchartrain, and both were perfectly cooked with delicious sauces and accompaniments. Prices very reasonable for the quality of food. Terrific service too, and a very pleasant outdoor patio. Looking forward to returning!

This is the first review I have given for a restaurant. My hubby and I tried Gumbos out and it was delicious 😋. I had the ponchatrain tilapia with seafood dirty rice and he had the blackened catfish and red beans rice. The portions are a great size! Spices and seasoning are just right! Kudos to the chef and the team!! You definitely get your money's worth. The only negative I have is that I ordered breadpudding to go and it was the tinest piece known to man, I almost didn't see that it in the container.

This is one of the few Cajun/Creole restaurants in Denver. The food is authentic and
correctly spiced. The Happy Hour offers a good selection of Small Plates at a good
price. The sound system plays a great Blues selection.

I took my friend to Gumbo's for his birthday dinner. We had been to Gumbo's one time prior about 2 years ago and enjoyed it very much back then. Our second time dinning at Gumbo's just reinforced our memory of how much we had enjoyed it.

We both ordered the Mississippi Blackened Catfish served with seafood dirty rice. I started with a bowl of Gumbo and my friend had the fried green tomatoes. Neither disappointed!

We usually never order dessert but because we had really enjoyed dinner, we wanted to extend our eating pleasure. We were initially disappointed that they had run out of beignets, but the server recommended the key lime pie. Key lime pie happens to be one of those desserts that my friend is always searching for places that serve a key lime pie that is up to his standards. Let's just say that it did not disappoint in the least.

We need to return more frequently than once every two years!

It was a quiet evening midweek, the service was impeccable (friendly without being intrusive, precise without being snooty) and the food was delicious. I love the bluesy background music. A very enjoyable evening.

Our first visit: Ate inside (under loud speakers) instead of patio (against loud street). Other than the volume issue, everything was pretty darn good. Tori was ourserver, she was friendly and efficient, and dug up a root beer from the basement stock when none was left at the bar.
Crab cake (more of crab balls) appetizer was the best we've had in awhile. All meat, no mushy bread, with a nice side of greens. Entrees were good too, the steak sauce a bit on the spicey end, but I rarely eat Cajun, so just my profile. All the ingredients done well, nice to experience a meal you know has been fully prepared, not just "assembled."
Beignets were only so-so, more of donut holes, but overall a very good meal. Parking is a challenge along this corridor, be prepared to circle and walk the difference.
Worth a repeat.

I was introduced to Gumbos by a former co-worker upon hearing that I liked Cajun (and Creole) food. I've never been disappointed there. Highly recommend the pan-seared scallops (dinner menu), their seafood dirty rice, and their gumbo (lunch and sides menus).

Food was really good. We were there on a Thursday at 6pm and they only had 2-3 other tables, but service was extremely slow. Bartender was very obviously on something speeding him up and perhaps our waitress was just trying to slow her pace down enough to offset? the spicy cucumber margarita was delicious and I would go back for the food - hopefully just an odd night for them?

We had been to Gumbo's before and it was excellent so we wanted to go again. I was very disappointed. I had the talapia and it was over cooked, dried out and crusty. The sauce was bland. The last time I was there I ate everything on my plate. This time I left food. We won't go again.

The food was pretty good- we shared the small dinner items: gumbo, crawfish etouffee, red beans and rice, and popcorn shrimp. Everything has really great flavors and I was very surprised with how much crawfish we got in the etouffee! Wow! We went on Mardi Gras and we were a little underwhelmed by the celebration. Not much was going on for Fat Tuesday, no specials for it. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert but I heard they were all made in house- next time I will make sure to save room! This is definitely a place I would go for a casual "different" dinner, I probably will try to find a more fun place for Mardi Gras next year! Where is my Fat Tuesday at?

Food was excellent, but the night we visited they had a few wait staff no-shows! That made for a very long wait for the food. On one of the dishes, the fish was blackened despite a special request not to do so. To their credit, they comped that meal. Definitely worth another try because of the unusual circumstances of the night we went. It was also a bit loud that it was difficult hearing others at our table. The food is clearly worth the inconveniences, however.

Although we had a confirmed reservation for four people for 6:45 p.m. Sunday at Gumbos, for supper before heading to the Comedy Club for its 9 pm show, we were shocked and disappointed to find the restaurant closed.

How could this happen?

Overall great food. The seafood was very salty, and there was some error with the final bill. It did get organized. Yet an unfortunate first experience. Hopeful to try it a second time and have everything run a little smoother.

Food was a bit below their usual standards and they seemed understaffed. I rated them fair because they had only 1 can of diet coke and could only make 2 rum and cokes. Never had a restaurant run out of diet coke before. Perhaps just a seriously off night. Will find out next time.

Overall, a good experience. When we first arrived, we ordered cocktails, which took an eternity to make it to us. In fact, our appetizers came first. Apps and entrees were very good (my steak was a bit undercooked, but I'd rather have that than overcooked ). Good flavors all around. Desserts were the low point of the night in terms of quality.
