Gulliver's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
It was really good and we were happy that we chose to go there. A couple of us were a bit disappointed in the prime rib as we had asked for medium and it had to be sent back 3 times as it was so very rare (actually bloody, which doesn't seem medium to me) and was still on the rare side the last time.
Overall very good and I would go again.
When we first walked in the hostess seemed a little overwhelmed and did not ask us for our reservation for at least 10 minutes. It was a little disorganized in the front, but as always, the prime rib was very good and the creamed corn is amazing. That makes it all worth the trip.
It is always a great experience at Gulliver's. Their specialty prime rib is very good and the side dishes including creamed spinach, creamed corn, Yorkshire Pudding, and stuffed bake potato are all excellent. Gulliver's takes an extra step to decorate the interior when there is an upcoming holiday. In this case the holiday was Halloween so the restaurant was decorated with all sorts of humorous Halloween props. The service is top notch and the staff has yet to disappoint us. From the food to the ambience to the service, Gulliver's always delivers.
All food items were seriously inferior. Prime rib was so tough and grisly it couldn’t be cut. Requested a sharper knife, it didn’t help. We took the prime rib home for the dogs. It could not be cut or chewed. Spinach was below poor, creamed corn was marginal, beer choice was bad. Altogether probably the worst diner experience I can ever recall. Manager gave a free desert in compensation. It was terrible and not edible. Will never return to this disaster place.
Six of us met for a business lunch. The restaurant was very polite and flexible with the number of attendees which I had to repeatedly change. My friend and I shared a patty melt, which was simply outstanding. Everyone else cleaned their plates. One attendee, who had the steak salad, said it was the best he had ever had. Service was prompt and they were very nice. Parking was free and easily accessible.
My husband and I had an outstanding dinner out at Gulliver's this past weekend. The food was spectacular and the service was quite remarkable. Our server, Tony, had a great personality and sense of humor. We had a delightful evening out and look forward to returning soon. We began with the Pear Martinis and then moved on to the Pork Belly and Stuffed Mushroom appetizers. For dinner I had the lamb shank and my husband had the prime rib. We both enjoyed the famous creamed corn. Our meal was outstanding.
Gulliver's is an old line steak house. They have a few chicken and seafood entrees but if you want a hunk of beef. This is a great place to get it. Their specialty is prime rib and it comes with Yorkshire pudding, Gulliver's corn and creamed spinach. The portions are so large that 3 out of 4 people at our table took home some of their dinner.
Between the ambiance of an old English inn, the great food and generous portions I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Their wine selection and prices are good.
We just left Gulliver's and were LITERALLY chased outside of the restaurant about forgetting our "change" when we decided to leave a sub-par tip. Normally, I'm someone who leaves 20% to 25%, and never less than 15% even when the service was bad. But this service was beyond bad from the waitress. Everything seemed okay when J.J. first took our order, but it was downhill from there. My cousin customized her order and that seemed to already frustrate the waitress. On a $30 plate, I think it’s reasonable to change a couple of things.
When the food was dropped off, my cousin said to me (not the waitress) “I thought I ordered grilled chicken.” I started to explain that that was a different dish on the menu, but the waitress jumped in and said something like “no, that’s what you ordered…” and walked away. She came back and slopped down the creamed corn on our (dirty) bread plates, almost threw the corn on top of my cousin’s hand as my cousin was trying to move crumbs of bread from the plate.
We didn’t see the waitress again for the entirety of the meal, until desert (which was offered not an insubstantial time after dinner, as we sat waiting a while after the table was cleared). In the meantime, she stopped by the other tables around us multiple times to check on things and she seemed to throw dirty looks our way from time to time. We declined desert. She dropped off the check a few minutes later. We paid in cash. It came to about $89, and we put in $90, leaving a buck.
We hadn’t decided not to leave more of a tip until she came by to see much money was in the folder (AFTER she brought us our $1 change). We were ready to go and didn’t feel like the service we received was worth more than the $1.
We walked outside, and she ran out behind us as we are walking IN THE PARKING LOT to scream “you forgot your change” and not just once. It was at least three times. I finally told her to keep it and she huffed and walked back inside.
Aniversary dinner on a Sunday night. We were seated on time and server approached shortly. Wide variety on menu. Our menu choices were served shortly. We were pleased with our choices. Service was very good but not intrusive. We received a complementary desert for our aniversary. We will return.
The food is always good here. I highly recommend this place but don't be surprised if the servers are a little rough around the edges. Also if you're not too tall check the seats at the table you may have to try to find one that is firm enough so you don't feel like you're sitting in a hole.
We had an anniversary dinner here, and as always, the food was delicious and the service was very efficient and attentive. Steaks are outstanding, and so is the prime rib. They are some of the best you will find. I had something different for a change and enjoyed it--huge shrimp cocktail with very good cocktail sauce that had a nice "bite," homemade cream of mushroom soup (NOTHING like the canned variety), and a fine Caesar salad. The soup was chock-full of fresh mushrooms and was not overly creamy. All of it was very satisfying. This establishment is consistently good, and we always look forward to returning.
Almost everyone says they know Gullivers but haven't been there in a long time. Go Back. Great for lunch and business. Quiet. Easy in and out. Easy free parking. Portion size sufficient to take a container home if you do that sort of thing. Salads and Fish are also very good.
