An evening out a Gulliver's is always a satisfying experience. Excellent food, good service and great ambience. Well worth the slightly expensive price.
Good foods and great service overall. We will definitly be back.
Good food and a bit pricey. There are no vegan options. Obviously if a vegan wants to go out to eat by themselves, this is not the place to go. However, if a vegan were to be part of a group celebration, it would be more enjoyable for everyone if there were options for all types of eaters.
A lovely, relaxing evening. Good food and great service
As always, Gullivers never disappoints. Food and service are terrific. One of the rare gems that has maintianed it's high quality standards for 40 or 50 years.
Great prime rib, came with Yorkshire pudding and two veg.
Our first visit to Gulliver’s was in 1972. Our dinner tonight was as good as our memories. Hope to be back soon. Very happy that most everything was the same!
prime rib excellent, well made cocktails, attentive service. Expensive, but worth it for a once in a while outing!
Best service we have had in a long time at any restaurant. Halibut was a little tough but steak was superb.
It was my first time to celebrate my mother's birthday. We arrived slightly late and the staff were very accommodating. Our wait staff was knowledgeable about the menu and friendly and offered recommendations. Our prime rib and pork chop meals were delicious. The cream corn and spinach was to die for. Our waiter went above and beyond to make sure my mother had a happy birthday.
Service was helpful and friendly, without being intrusive. Felt like they knew us.
Always great prime rib, I suggest the English cut. For a finish try the real Key Lime pie.
My husband and I took my wheelchair-bound mother here for Easter brunch. The manager was extremely accommodating in helping us find a good seat for her, and the server was very helpful, also. The menu had a lot of choices, and this was my mother's favorite restaurant as it is the "old English" atmosphere, and very warm and inviting. The food was pretty good -- we all had the Eggs Benedict and Lyonnaise potatoes and all was well except . . . then the server disappeared! We didn't see her for a LONG time and ultimately we were handed off to another server, whom we had to waive over to our table. I know it was Easter, and I know how hard it is for servers, particularly if someone doesn't show up, so I'm not going to pass permanent judgment. I think it was just a tough day.
The prime rib was perfect as usual. For dessert we had the creen brûlée. Everything was delectable!
The food is always delicious and the staff are warm and friendly. I would highly recommend Gulliver's for a casual lunch or a special occasion.
Always a pleasure to dine at Gulliver's, a landmark in the Costa Mesa area for decades. Their specialty is prime rib which of course we had and it was delicious, as always. Our server was as just as efficient as she was lovely.
Positive for all
We have been to Gullivers before and always enjoyed it. My only criticism of this visit is the "Catch of the Day" (in this case halibut, blackened). The halibut was rather mushy.
The prime rib was excellent! Huge portions for each of us in our party. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The ambiance is old world English. It was a perfect meal. It remains one of our favorite restaurants to enjoy a nice relaxing dinner.
One of my long time favorites... they never disappoint.
Best prime rib I have ever had!! Service was very slow. We had people come in 20 to 30 minutes after us and the one couple was served before us and the other couple were served within minutes of us getting our food, and they had the same thing we had. The prime rib. I think they forgot our order. I do not blame our server Cathy, she was very pleasant and professional. Looked like it was the cooks fault. They were more interested in making the 3 foot submarine sandwich for the staff then getting our order out. We sat straight across from the kitchen and watched. We will defiantly be back and hopefully the service is faster next time, if not then we probably won't return.
We had a very romantic dinner. We were first seated in a very busy section where we could barely hear each other. We asked to be reseated in a quieter area. We were reseated and enjoyed a very wonderful evening with fabulous food, service and ambiance. We look forward to our next time at Gulliver's.
Waiter/waitress were exceptional, ready to take care of our every need.
Great service and food. Sat in the bar area by fireplace. Very relaxing. Will definitely go back.
Good for family and special occasions
The food was very good..especially the prime rib and creamed corn. Attentive service.
The food was good as expected. The service was amazing.
Manager stopped by several times to make sure everything was good, and our waitress was terrific.
It is truly amazing the difference a good waitress makes for a special evening.
Great food, the staff was friendly. Would definitely come back and recommend it.
Awesome. I love that filet mignon stroganoff
We had a great time excellent service and the food was outstanding. A little pricey but overall the evening went very well.
Great service and food was phenomenal. Gotta try the prime rib. So good.
Restaurant was crowded, several large parties, staff seemed frazzled. Food was excellent!
I had been looking forward to eating at Gullivers for many years, but never have gotten around to it. To be honest, I was very disappointed. The scallops were under cooked, ribeye steak was supposed to be medium rare, turned out to be medium well. It was not very tender either. After this experience, I would not recommend it to anybody. I would consider giving it another try, but not in the near future.
We arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation and were told we would be seated on time. Our reservation was for 5:30 and we were seated at 5:40 ish. We were going to the sergerstrom center and so didn't want to be late for the performance. We ate our meal and were considering dessert but it took too long for the waiter to come back and take our order as he was dealing with issues with other diners. At that point we would not have had time to order and eat dessert. So we asked for the check, paid and left. We arrived at the sergertrom center in time for the show.
Our dinner was a family outing. We made reservations easily on-line, while in route on the freeway. The receptionist was friendly and courteous. We were seated after a short wait and met our waiter, who was also courteous and informative. It was a busy Saturday night, yet service was surprisingly fast. The food was great and served in perfect portions. Thank you.
I hadn't been there in years and knew I was bringing someone that loves prime rib...it was as wonderful as I remembered. The wine list could be expanded and the restrooms are really in need of a remodel/upgrade but the delicious food offset both of those concerns.
The last time I was at a Gulliver's was perhaps 20 years ago. The restaurant was in Burlingame,Calif.
Nothing has changed as to appearance and wait staff.
My real problem was with the food. The Yorkshire pudding was tasteless. The creamed spinach was almost as bad. A very large portion of prime rib was served , much to my surprise, as I went with the smallest portion. Prime rib was on the very chewy side. I am used to Lowery's or The House of Prime Rib. At these restaurants you get very tender meats.
If you want to eat in old London style, it is worth a visit. If you want a great cut of meat, go elsewhere.
I haven’t been to Gullivers for lunch over a year. The food and service was great.
The staff was absolutely amazing. From the moment we entered we were greeted and feel comfortable. The manager engaged us and we extremely friendly. Shane, our server was great and joked around with us. Made us feel very welcome. The food was also great. The drinks were expensive.
We had heard really good things about Gulliver's, but weren't overly impressed. The service was excellent, but the food was mediocre. My husband ordered the rib eye which was overcooked (he asked for medium rare) and was not very flavorful. The waitress graciously offered to bring him something else, so he tried the prime rib. Although my piece was very good, the piece of meat that he got was once again pretty flavorless. The sides (brussel sprouts, creamed corn, twice baked potato, and creamed spinach) were all very good. We just felt that the food was a poor value, and we expected much more for the price that we paid.
