Gulliver’s hand-selected beef (corn-belt) is slow roasted in a unique patented oven system to assure flavorful, tender and juicy Prime Rib dinners. Gulliver's Restaurant is well known also for its other specialties as in-house aged Prime Steaks, Chateaubriand, Salmon, Rack of Lamb, Baby Back Ribs and roasted Long Island Duck.
As you walk into a Gulliver's you will feel as though you have entered back in time to 18th century England. Guests at the Gulliver’s are surrounded by a veritable museum of leaded glass pieces, pewter and ceramic objects, and a collection of prints from Hogarth, Rowlandson and other Gulliver’s Travels illustrators.
The Portions are huge, the service is gracious and friendly, and most importantly, the beef is cooked to perfection.
Gulliver's is place where memories are created.
Great service, great food and had a wonderful time. Been coming here for years and have always had a great experience.
food was fabulous! service was not as good as it could have been given the price.
Generous portions! Delicious food! The creamed corn is divine.
The food is always fantastic at this restaurant and the service outstanding as well. The dinner we ordered was great as well and 3 of in the party had all ordered the identical entree and cut of Prime Rib (Gulliver's Prime Cut) which is the specialty at the restaurant. The only issue I had was that one of the 3 plates of Prime Rib, the size was significantly smaller than the other 2 plates. When I noticed this and pointed it out to the waitress, the only comment she made was that the smaller size plate seemed to be the correct size and that apparently the chef had made a mistake and given larger portions on the other 2 plates than he should have. It seemed to me at the time, the majority of the plates would have been the correct size of cut, and thus did not really believe the answer the waitress gave me which make me fell, we were actually shorted on the one plate.
Food was too salty and price was too high for the food.
I have been to this restaurant once before with my boyfriend and the service and the good is always great! When we go we typically get the prime rib because that is what they’re known for. The prime rib is always prepared perfectly and how we want it to be, it also comes with creamed corn and spinach and Yorkshire pudding. Also, the ambiance and the service is very amazing! It is perfect for family gatherings or a romantic outing.
Been coming here from the 70s
Food never disappoints. Needs a little outside freshing up though
Amazing prime rib
Gullivers is the only restaurant that keeps the comfort food tradition. I always get the same thing; prime rib, creamed corn, creamed spinach and the Yorkshire pudding.
The drinks are excellent as well.
Dinners were fabulous, as always.
The prime rib was excellent as always. Service was lacking. Not sure if restaurant understaffed but waitress was not attentive to our table. We had to pour our own wine and the one person drinking beer was not asked if he wanted another beer. Waitress automatically added 20% tip based on total including taxes. I'm used to restaurants adding tip based on total EXCLUDING taxes. Normally I wouldn't care about the $7 difference but since service was marginal it just made the situation worse.
Gulliver's has become our favorite restaurant. We have tried the dinner fare, lunch fare, and the Happy Hour bar area, and love all three for different moods. We go through withdrawals if we wait too long to return....!!
We had reservations and requested to change the times, due to the graduation ending early. They were understanding and seated us early. Great food.
Very nice dinner. Food was very good. Service is always great.
We come here almost every time we visit Irvine where our son goes to UC Irvine. Charming Gulliver's Travels ambience, excellent Caesar salad, escargot, and prime rib! They also make excellent East Coast martinis. Highly recommended.
Excellent for lunch too! We come regularly for the first-class prime rib!
We have been enjoying Gullivers on and off for 30 years and haven't been disappointed.
We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who immediately sat us in a nice quiet area. Built in the 70s, the entire interior is that of England of the 1600s. While the ambience is quiet and comfortable, the music coming over the PA was late 60s early 70s rock 'n' roll! Granted that might've been the music when it was built but does not fit the ambience of the restaurant itself. I'm a frequent visitor to Lawrys the prime rib in Beverly Hills, and noticed many similarities in both the food and the menus. That being said, the food is really excellent. The cream corn a little too creamy for my taste but my partner loved it, the cream spinach a little too salty for both of us but very good nonetheless. Our waiter was extremely friendly and informative on his suggestions, so we enjoyed the Gullivers cut prime rib medium rare, and the lamb shank. Potatoes are ala cart, so we tried the twice baked baked potato, which was a little overdone. Garlic potatoes came with the lamb shank and they were excellent. Lamb shank was a little pricey and a little small for my taste, but you don't find it everywhere so it was good to enjoy it. Keylime pie for dessert was very tart, reminiscent of Miami Beach. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all, and it certainly saves the drive from Orange County to Beverly Hills. This seems to be the best prime rib in orange county, so we will be back!
An end cut is the only way I like prime rib. My portion was generous and prepared perfectly. The Gulliver’s salad, cream corn, and cream spinach was perfect too. It was a great way to celebrate our 43rd anniversary.
Prime rib is DELICIOUS. Have been getting the BROB every time I go.
Not as good as I remember the last time I was there. For the cost expected more
Everything was very special for our 15th wedding anniversary. The only person who dampened my wife’s joy was the manager (5/25/19 5:30pm) who wore just a blue shirt and slacks by the way. As my wife is disabled, her nurse brought her to the front door. I had gone ahead to make sure our reservations would be held as she was going to be 20 minutes late. Without proper handicapped access through the main entrance and no one to help the nurse, the nurse had to back into the entrance by herself. My wife is incapable of helping. As they finally got to the door they asked why the manager or someone didn’t come to their aid. The manager said something not helpful and made excuses. Later he came to our table to make small talk while we were waiting for our dinner. He had another chance to recognize his error and apologize. He was very bothersome and failed to try to rectify the situation y saying he would either have a handicapped auto open door or make sure there is always someone to assist not just my wife, but elders, or mothers with packages. My wife, who loves your restaurant, as it is where I proposed to her.
Please make this up to the people who want to be there. If it becomes too difficult many people will stop dining at Gulliver’s.
Food was delish and plenty of it. But the decor has not changed in 35 years it could use a refresh. At least new chairs they are pretty worn out.
I thought the eleven dollar charge to split a steak was ridiculous. Food was ok kind of a cool older vibe
Food was good. Service not so much. I think our waitress was way too busy and she forgot we were there.
The decor was original 1980’s ole tavern style. Ceiling had original asbestos tile that was stained. Clam chowder was Campbell’s potato soup with some clams and under cooked onions and celery. Did bring bread to the table. Had stuffed mushrooms with crab. Insides were cold and crab was not fresh. Had the specialty prime rib and wife had the lamb shank. Cream corn was good, prime rib was too salty, lamb was ok, spinach was good. Found the restaurant confused as to what it was trying to accomplish. Bar wench style costumes for the female servers in not appropriate in this day and age. I could have taught them how to make a better lamb, clam chowder and bread should be boudin sourdough. Update on the atmosphere and weird piped in music needs to change as well as tired menu.
Wow, this place has gone downhill quickly. It was my ‘go to restaurant’ for Prime Rib. The quaint atmosphere is still there. But, even the restrooms are in a sorry state. My food looked like it had been under heat lamps for about an 1/2 hour. The beef was ‘dry & tepid’. The Yorkshire pudding was burnt. And, the creamed spinach had a coagulated layer covering it. I’m shocked that they would even serve this dish. Needless to say, I won’t be ever going back.
I've been going to Gulliver's since 1974. The food Ambience and service has always been great!
We’ve been here before. Our server was excellent. The food very good. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Moist and tender. The only down side was when the manager came by to check on us, I told him there was yellowish twig in my husband’s plate among the green beans. I’m not sure what it was but wanted to mentioned it in case other plates were brought out with the same problem. The manager told us that the yellow, hard pieces with knots that’s angular was an uncooked green bean!
Always so well taken care of. Food is always made to perfection and service is always 5 star.
We always enjoy our meals at Gulliver’s. We also enjoy eating at John Wayne’s table as it appears to be a quieter area
Yet another awesome meal at Gulliver's. In spite of the prie fixe menu for Mother's Day all of our favorites were well represented. We were seated within minutes of our reservation time, service was spot-on and the food, well, it's always good (right down to the creme brulee and congac).
We'll be back soon!
Overall good experience for Mother’s Day. However the waitress was very slow and rarely checked on us. When she did check on us Re has to remind her multiple times for refills or to bring us some hot sauce. Possibly since the 18% gratuity was guaranteed for our party of 7.
Great food, awesome staff. I recommend this place to everyone.
Very good for Mother’s Day
First, I was served half bad coffee cream, and yet their responce to it was very slow.
I always enjoy eating at Gullivers. Noise level is always a concern for me. In the past my partner and i were given a booth where noise level is manageable. But this time we were given a small table next to a big table that had a big family that was very noisy. The noise level was intolerable and it sort of spoiled what would have been an otherwise enjoyable evening at one of my favorite restaurants. The food and the service were excellent. I always order the prime rib which is outstanding.
There seemed to be some confusion at the front desk as we checked in. We had a reservation but for some reason others who got there after we did were seated before us. Perhaps there was some logical reason but it would have been nice to be informed as to what was going on. Also the checkin table is just a few few directly in front of the front door and it gets very crowded for those trying to check in and those that are waiting for their table.
Food and service were Excellent! Would recommend to everyone!
Go for the Prime Rib...always good with excellent side accompaniments of Yorkshire pudding, creamed corn, and spinach. This restaurant never disappoints.
