Gulfstream - Kelowna Ratings and Reviews
Very good service and attention. Everyone working was happy and relaxed and joking around. Enjoyed my time. Usually I have found the food very flavourful here. Unfortunately during this past experience, i found the salad flavourless, as if there was no dressing on it! Not sure what happened, but i will still come back.
I first made an online reservation. Then I followed up with a phone call I advised that it was our 33rd anniversary. Reservation request was for a table away from the entry and main traffic area. We were placed at a table near the entrance where there was a lot of traffic. There were not any options for other tables when we arrived. Staff service was excellent for the entire meal. My stuffed chicken was good flavor, but the chicken was small and a bit chewy and there were not enough vegetables. My wife's steak was over cooked. We understand that it was busy, but our food was below par. We have eaten here a few times before. Meals were great then. I guess this is a 'one off', but I wish is didn't happen on our Anniversary.
Overall, the ambiance was really good. The service was excellent.
I am a frequent patron there and appreciate the lengths the serving staff, in the lounge and dining room, took to accommodate my menu requests. I also appreciate that they remember my menu selections (I seldom change what I order) and always do their best to find a table for me and my guest(s).
Everything was great in the restaurant including the food. I was driving my girlfriend to the airport and she wanted to take me to dinner beforehand. I suggested your restaurant as I've been there twice before for lunch and she had been as well. She thought it was a great idea as we would be in the neighbourhood of the airport as well and not have to worry about traffic. We both had the salt and pepper chicken wings and they were nice and crispy and delicious!
We've dined here a couple of times before, but not impressed this time. Less than a week before Christmas and you'd never know it by the decor. Two wreaths, that's it. But we met friends here for dinner and were introduced to two different servers who said they were our server for the evening. Not sure what happened here. We're not given a wine list with our menus and had to wait quite awhile to see our server appear again, although we were the only ones in the restaurant. Our steaks dinners ( not cooked to our preference) weren't anything to rave about and unfortunately, we all commented that our vegetables were terribly over salted and steaks bland.
It wasn't bad...but underwhelming.
My wife and I and a friend had brunch at the GulfStream on Sunday. The service was prompt and the person waiting on us was personable. My meal and our guest's meal were very good, hot and presented nicely. However, my wife ordered the ham and poached eggs describing that she liked her poached eggs with the white well cooked, but the yellow soft. The girl said that was called medium. When the meal was delivered, it was well presented and looked great. The eggs were overcooked, and the hash browns were cool which was surprising as the other two meals were perfect. We did enjoy the restaurant but it would have been nice to have had 3 perfect meals. Glenn Eastman
Arrived - waited at front for 10 minutes on one came.
Sat ourselves in the lounge. Waited another 10 minutes till a server finally arrived.
Breakfast was decent - nothing special - wanted Mimosas - apparently they don't serve them till 9AM - yet it doesn't show that anywhere at all on the menu.
Told them I had Starwood points - no one seemed to know what those were - yet it's a Sheraton hotel.
Service was very good, waitress was attentive and very pleasant. The menu has a dish for most diets and tastes. We had the Thai lettuce wraps for an appitizer and they were delicious. My wife really enjoyed the, grilled chicken salad and the fish and chips were cooked just right.
A very enjoyable evening sitting on the patio, would go back again!
It was nice to eat at place that was kid friendly and had a good kids menu but still nice atmosphere and quality food for the adults. We all enjoyed our meals (4 adults, 2 kids). Fish tacos were amazing! My only feedback would be that milk should be included as a beverage choice with the kids menu (when we got the bill we discovered that only juice or pop was included and we had to pay extra for the kids milk).
One comes away pleasantly surprised when you are expecting regular hotel food but get excellent restaurant fare. Had the halibut with lime drizzle as part of the wine and dine feature and it was, along with tasty app and green tea ice cream dessert, commendable.
Went for Wine and Dine but disappointed that they only had halibut. Weird choice!!
It was happy hour but they seated us in the restaurant and were told it was for the lounge??? Not according to the website!!! Prices very high for what you get but it was tasty.
I would have rated our visit "very good" - but, here's why.... I DIDN'T......we specifically made a restaurant reservation to celebrate our good friends birthday. When we arrived and I indicated we had a reservation, we were wisked into the Lounge by the Hotess/Greeter and an attempt was made to seat us right by the door. When I indicated a reservation was made(second time), there was no acknowledgement by the Hotess(felt she couldn't have cared less) , just where would we like to sit....wanting us to sit in the Lounge! We had to request a spot in the Dining Room area where we had a great Lunch - food was tasty. Service by our server was attentive(not the same person who greeted us when we entered the restaurant). Decor was nice, and we were able to enjoy the company of our friends. Would I go back? Yes, but not right away. There is lots to be said for the first impression, which wasn't great....
Though our evening at the Gulfstream was pleasurable, we found the ambiance lacking a bit of privacy. We we're with good friends and we felt a little distracted with other diners around us due to the proximity. If the booths had higher backs on them, I think that would make the dining experience a little more intimate.
Our server told us they are known for their steaks. I'm not a big red meat eater, but ordered the six ounce tenderloin. It had to one of the best I've ever had! My spouse had the crab baked mac and cheese which he was thoroughly enjoyed. I was also impressed with the wine selections, and service. We dined here on recommendation by friends and will definitely return!
We went for Sunday brunch for my mother's birthday (82nd) and the food was very good, the waitress was good, Mom received a complimentary dessert and the waitress sang Happy Birthday with us. I would definitely go back and try it for lunch or dinner. The only con was
they were a bit slow getting our meals out, which was a bit surprising as it wasn't busy. Nice
to find a restaurant that isn't blasting the music and noise level low enough you can converse with everyone!
Unfortunately, I thought I had booked reservations for Gulfstream Newport Beach but found it was In BC as the Gulfstream in Newport does not participate in Open Table..
I am sorry for confusion and was embarrassed when I showed up with no reservations. Don't make same mistake if you are in the Orange County area.
