My wife and I have been here several times before and love it. We suggested it to friends who are staying in North Myrtle Beach and they were willing to make the drive. They all loved it! We were there early and were seated right away. Service was excellent as always and the food was great. Blackened tilapia was good and not too spicy. Scallops were perfect.
Our friends talked about the great experience the next day.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday buffet! The food selection was expansive, well prepared and seasoned, and fresh! A perfect setting for a reunion of family and friends.
Have been to the Sunday brunch several times over the years and it is a very nice experience. Reservations make it easy with no waiting. Great location on the water and plenty of parking. The food is nicely presented with great selections including an omelette station. Overall, a pleasant dining location with very good food and service.
We were there for Sunday Brunch with family to celebrate a birthday. Best brunch in area, biscuits are great, wonderful variety of options for omelets and you can't beat the view!
Well the food was reasonable (nothing oustanding), but the service was horrific!
I was with my 16 year old daughter. Our table was upstairs next to the bar. Almost 5 minutes after we arrived and server took our drink order, a large group (15-20) came to the bar.
So what we thought would be a reasonably quick dinner when we were starving turned out to be over a 2 hour ordeal.
We soon realized that our server was wearing two hats and was also the bar tender.
Had to beg for bread at our table which some other server ended up getting. Flagged down another server for some straws. after 30 minutes original server appeared to take order and then disappeared again back to bar. Not sure if the order never went in, but then we waited almost hour for food to arrive. In the meantime, family sat next to us with a different server who told them about the specials. Who knew because our server never told us!
That family was served and finished and left and 5 miuntes later our food finally arrived.
I flagged down another server to request a glass of wine to go with my dinner and she told me to ask my server and I told her I had not seen her for an hour.
Well - nothing was taken off of our bill for the poor service and I did look for manager on my way out to explain the challenges and couldnt find that person either.
Obviously they did not have the staff to cover this night and I think we should have been compensated in some way for that.
She crab soup to die for. Large portions for the price. Great Key Lime pie. Dinner for 2 came to $105 plus gratuity which was 2 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 desserts and coffees.
We have been going to the Gulf Stream for several years and it never disappoints. It is a beautiful setting. The She Crab Soup is yummy...nice creamy with plenty of crab. Seafood Ciopini is delicious....that sauce with the warm bread is a meal in itself. Crab cakes are always delightful..lots of crab and just a little filling. I would say the grouper is my least favorite dish....I am just not a fan of the breading....a little too thick for me. Whatever you do....remember to make a reservation!!
The food, and view was great! The waitress was unfriendly, apathetic and not happy with her job which took a lot away from the dining experience. This is a high end restaurant with high dollar prices and the service should be pleasant and she was far from it.
Best view in the area. Our favorite place.
Crumbs all over floor - cocktail sauce was half full and appeared to be old shrimp small in shrimp cocktail waitress forgot the wine - salad and dressing was good
Excellent seafood, my wife and I have enjoyed the lobster stuffed with Crab the last two trips to Pawleys Island, just a short drive to Garden city. I highly recommend this restaurant, the food, service and atmosphere are excellent!
The place is always good. Best brunch around. The staff is amazing .
This review is for the Sunday morning buffet. The selection of food is good but the food was not replenished on a timely basis. We were not able to get salad, fruit, and eggs without returning to a long line. The omelet station was a bottleneck and was only preparing one at a time. The service was good otherwise. I have eaten dinner at this restaurant and been very satisfied. They need to work on the brunch.
We had a lovely family dinner at the Gulfstream Cafe this evening. The restaurant was busy and many of the tables had four or more diners so the place was buzzing with conversation. Our table was not right next to a window but we still had a lovely view of the inlet. We all started our dinner with a salad. Everyone commented on the salad as it had bacon, ham, tomatoes and almonds on top. We especially loved the sourdough bread. It was warm and delicious and was served with whipped butter. Two of us had the house special which was sautéed soft shell crab. Absolutely delicious! One had grouper francaise which was quite delicious. Our last diner enjoyed the chicken Parmesan. Overall, we would recommend the Gulfstream Cafe.
Always consistently wonderful. Food and service.
Great service. Great food. Had the lightly breaded Cod. Excellent. Will return. Really enjoyed the evening.
Made a reservation on open table and was lucky to have an inlet view table and a vibrant sunset. Service was excellent, food hot and very fresh seafood.
This is a favorite of ours and we enjoy bringing friends here when they visit from out of town. The food is very good and I enjoy the crab cakes as my favorite. The view is great and outdoor dining is warm weather is exceptional. We have always had great service and we feel the prices are reasonable.
The location makes for the best Sunset view on the Southern Grand Strand! BUT....ONLY HAVE A DRINK! Food is subpar, service equal to the food. It is such a shame this gold mine real estate can't deliver.
Waitress was extremely rude. When my father asked what sides they had she said it’s on the menu. Then while I was eating she brought me another drink and grabbed my straw out of my empty drink and put it back in my new one. Food was average and way over priced. They also charged us 20% gratuity for only a party of 6. I will not be going back again.
We brought guests from out of town mostly for the view but also because we love the food. I had the Nawlins shrimp and grits with a salad. We also had several orders of the fried seafood platter which was plentiful with shrimp, scallops, and fish. Everything was tasty. The accompanying salads were fresh with great dressings. We will be back.
We happily spent our Easter brunch at this fine restaurant! Beautiful space—but just a bit tight for the crowd. Nothing tonrally complain about/-just a note. . Great food, nice variety with fabulous service!
Easter brunch has gone downhill from other years. Food wasn’t as good, was not replenished, and was cold. Beef was so tough, you could barely cut it let alone chew it. Had a hard time finding enough to eat since most items were cold and not very tasty. The potatoes were acceptable, but cold, the omelets were watery, and the chicken chunks were dried out. The cold shrimp was good, as was the ham and the fried fish. But that’s about it. Some sterno cans were empty and had to be replaced. There was less of a selection and the buffet tables were squeezed into a smaller space. Only one buffet line and it took 30 minutes just to get to the beginning of the line where the plates were. It was my idea to go here for Easter brunch and I made the reservation about 3-4 weeks in advance, knowing how busy it gets. I was a little embarrassed and apologetic to my friends because I told them that it was very good. There was no dessert table as there was last year so they said they’d bring a plate of cookies to our table. Well, they ran out of cookies. If this was Gulfstream’s first year of doing the Easter buffet, it would be understandable that they would have all these problems, but it wasn’t. Recommendations: offer more selections, like salmon, chicken piccata, a broiled fish, maybe a pork tenderloin and more fresh vegetables. Serve well seasoned food that’s hot. If the food is really good and not mediocre, you can actually charge $5.00 more and people will enjoy it and come back. I’ve never done a review online about anything, but since you asked me to do one, I complied.
We've gone there for Easter Brunch several years in a row. I know the place is small but they need to make the buffet line into two lines. The one line made for a long wait and also it's very hard to walk to the line or to your table. Maybe put the buffet line in a different area. It's right in the way of all the work staff walk area and also the customers.
Waitress was very attentive to everyone’s needs. Pleasurable evening out with friends
Gulfstream is our "go to" restaurant at the beach. Within walking distance adds to the attraction. But would drive a distance for the food and service. Consistently good food. Casual atmosphere. Beautiful sunsets.
Anniversary of engagement
We had a very good experience. Everyone enjoyed the food. Our only minor objection was that I asked for "a quiet table by a window." We certainly got both, but perhaps I should have specified that I wanted a window with an unobstructed view of the marsh. The window we got was on the side, and the view was obstructed by multiple beams, doors, and such. I'll be more specific next time, although I sort of thought one could determine that if you want a window, it's to see the outdoors.
Service was average. Food was tasty but choices are limited, particularly the side dishes. View is terrific, especially at sunset
We enjoyed our experience. The seafood was excellent and, Dawn, our waiter, was outstanding. The view is also special as on one side you can see the ocean and the other, the salt marshes.
Nice ambiance with a magnificent view for brunch with the family. Priced reasonably with a great variety - the meal was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Buffet line moved quickly and everything was replenished regularly - we didn't miss anything!
The line for the breakfast buffet can get pretty long, but there a lots of options. If you don’t want to wait, try the crab omelet or shrimp and grits which are their only “menu” items.
Not cheap, but a great location for viewing sunsets across the marsh! Great crab cakes!
Really nice place inside, great view of the marsh for sunset except our table did not have much of a view but we understand it happens. Very limited menu with most everything deep fried.. I had the scallops that where" lightly deep fried" they where good but I have had much better at a competitor, good portions of the flounder but again deep fried.
Dinner was excellent. Beautiful location. Great service.
LOCAL AND TOURIST FAVORITE FOR YEARS. VIEW IS UNPARRALLED. OUR SERVER ATTENTIVE AND PROFESSIONAL. NOT EVERY DAY VALUE BUT FOR MEMORABLE EVENING SHOULD BE IN YOUR ROTATION.
For the most part, we had a great meal with excellent service. We ordered the salmon, mahi-mahi, and fried shrimp. All of these were very good. We also ordered the crab legs which we were disappointed with. They were not very good for the price.
We came for my granddaughters wedding dinner in 2016, since we have moved from Ohio to Longs, but Gulf Stream Cafe is our favorite restaurant on the Grand Strand! We come for dinner very often!
We have been there many times and have always gotten a good meal with great service and hospitality from servers and hostesses.
We eat here frequently in March when we are here for the month from Michigan. We went for the fish fry 2 weekends in a row, the fish was not hot, but otherwise good.
