Gulfstream Cafe Ratings and Reviews
We have always celebrated Veteran's Day at Gulf Stream Cafe. They have always been so open and respectfully to our military men and women and then there was today. Our friend who usually comes with us brought his mother this time because his wife is going through chemo treatment for cancer. She forgot to bring her military ID so they would not honor her free entree. That was OK and we understood that they required the ID. What wasn't OK is that when he asked to see a manager to ask about it, the manager asked to see their ID's and then when we checked out our waitress said she needed their ID's for the manager to look at. We have never had this happen in the last 4 years we have been coming and feel like the manager was questioning our truthfulness. Granted there are people out there just looking for a free meal, but we had already shown our ID's and told the manager we understood their policy because his 86 year old mother could not produce hers and we would pay for her meal. We felt very disrespected by the manager on duty. We had other friends who dined there that night and they only had to show their ID's to the waitress at seating.
We actually went this day because of a sponsored Veteran event. I was told you could order from the menu. We were looking forward to it, but when we got there it was only a brunch. I would have rather come back and order from the menu. I asked and was told it was only the Brunch being offered to the Veterans. Therefore we stayed. Halfway through our meal a few other people came and thought they were ordering from the menu. They were told they don't have to do the brunch, and can just come back at 4. This is what we had wanted to do, but we're told it was only the brunch being offered. We like Gulfstream Cafe, but disappointed we weren't given the option like others.
After reading the reviews raving about Gulfstream I just did feel it was that special...yes you can see the sunset from the porch and probably most tables, but the restaurant lacked in ambience. This was actually my second time visiting this restaurant and the first time was so unpleasant it took me 2 years to try again. Although they were busy, it wasn’t busy enough for the waitress to ask for our order when she had just delivered the appetizer. I had to tell her we needed about 10 minutes to enjoy our drink and appy before deciding. Not a lot of choices on the menu but our food was ok. Just my opinion but too many other restaurants I’d return to before going back to Gulfstream.
Everything was wonderful except for the girl ,I don't know what her job was she was at the Brunch buffet .I needed a cool plate for my salad and the ones out where warm from the dishwasher. She put her hand all over the plate then said here this ones not warm. That's the plate I want to eat of of.She played with her hair wiped her nose with her hand and continued working around the buffet. I wish someone in management would give her a clue. She seems like a lovely person with bad habits.
We've only dined here twice once for Sunday brunch which excellent and a delicious dinner on October 25th. My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Gulfstream Cafe. The waiter described the specials and was very attentive. From the appetizer of prawns to the entrees of ciopiono and lump crabs the meal was fit for foodies. When in the Murrells Inlet, SC area we recommend Gulfstream Cafe!
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here, with a breathtaking view of the sunset over Murrells Inlet. We had the She crab soup, salmon portobello and the seafood platter, all of which were outstanding, as was the service. We will definitely return when we are in the area.
This is one of our local favorites, right on the water at the Inlet. Limited menu, but excellent fresh catches and cooked to perfection. A little noisy on a Friday night, but a very popular place for great evening out at reasonable price. Wait staff and management always makes us feel welcome and glad to see us. Friendly and a great change from the hustle-bustle of most "seafood" restaurants up and down the beach.
We have been meaning to try Gulfstream for quite some time and finally made it. It is in a nice quiet spot in Garden City away from the crowds. The menu isn't huge but the food was excellent. Everyone in my group got the fried seafood platter. It was $24 and was worth it. The hot bread that came out was great too. Wish the meal came with a salad but that was extra. Service was great.
We had a pleasant evening dinner with a great waiter. We go to this restaurant every time we visit Murrells Inlet. The restaurant is actually in Garden City. The menu is primarily seafood but has chicken and steak options. They also have great early bird specials.
