This family-owned and operated restaurant in the heart of Healdsburg is truly a dining gem! The menu consists of family recipes from Central and South America, passed down through generations (grandmother to daughter to grandson), prepared by the grandson and served by the family members. Everything is prepared fresh as you order it, and is a great fusion of old-world sauces and entrees with today's farm-fresh ingredients. It is truly a taste sensation, and not your typical Latin cuisine. Reservations are required as it's a local favorite and there are not many tables. Plan ahead and don't miss out!!

As always, the food and service was excellent. My wife and I had Tacos de Pescado (local cod) as our appetizer and the Pescado con Coco, sautéed halibut, cooked to perfection, with a lime foam to give it a beautiful citrus finish. It was served on a saffron rice base with a hint of mango and vegetables.
Chef Carlos always greets and makes feel welcome. This is our favorite restaurant in Healdsburg.

Guiso was the perfect family owned restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was beyond exceptional. Plan to be there for a few hours as food is cooked in front of you as you order but it is so worth it. We would definetley go back and highly recommend you trying this quant little place.

Staying in Guerneville for the weekend from Mountain View and tried this restaurant for the first time due to great Yelp reviews. A small, intimate, family-run restaurant with wonderful ambience. Only minor downside is that some of the seats are in the path of the doorway, which during the cooler weather is a bit drafty each time guests enter the restaurant. We found out that some people make specific reservations for the tables that are away from the door. Servers are warm and very attentive and take the time to explain the dishes to you and which ones are special family recipes. We enjoyed the pupusas (grandma's recipe), vegetables sauteed in a delicious tomato sauce, and warm, soft homemade dinner rolls with herb butter as appetizers and then savored the tasty brothy paella (different from style you're used to) chock full of homemade chorizo, shrimp, clams, and mussels cooked to tender perfection. We would highly recommend this restaurant and would return again when we are in the area.

This family owned treasure of a restaurant is so wonderful. The food is unique, delicious and authentic. The service is personal and prompt. Guisos is very busy ALL the time and a small intimate space, so I recommend making reservations. Bon Appetite !!!

My wife and I had a delicious dinner here on a Sunday night. Our waitress, Valerie (the chef's sister) patiently explained all the dishes to us and made us feel very welcome. We paired four small bite dishes (brussel sprouts, prawns with the chef's special Guiso sauce, fish tacos, and Cuban pork sliders) with some Gewürztraminer wine. All the dishes were bursting with flavor. The space is small with just a few tables, but the experience was great. We would definitely come back.

If you're like me, the word "Fusion" in the name or description of a restaurant gives you pause for concern. But in this case, forget about it. There's no need for concern. Instead, think "family." As in, these are someone's family recipes, traditions, and memories brought to life as food for us to enjoy. This is very much a "family restaurant" in every sense of the word. Our server, Valeria, is a member of the family who owns this lovely, though tiny, Salvadoran restaurant. It is, in fact, her brother's dream come to life. Her grace and hospitality made us feel welcome and as though we, too, were now part of their family. Her joyous pride in their collective accomplishment could not have been more apparent.

When you go there (and I urge you to do so - and often), be prepared to dine "family style." Not seated on long communal tables, but rather plan to order dishes you'll share with your friends and family. My wife and I shared the Brucelas con Chorizo (roasted brussels sprouts, house made chorizo, jamaican jerk spice butter sauce, cilantro lime cream, cotika cheese) as an appetizer. Then we shared the Paella Caribena as an entree. They were each a wonderful new taste experience. Warm, flavorful, spicy-yet-not-hot. A rare balance in Latin American food, and one that we found to be remarkable. Maybe that's the "fusion" of it all.

We can't wait to return to try some of the other amazing dishes we saw served. Recommend you get advanced reservations, though, as this establishment is indeed "cozy" and fills up fast. Good place for date night, a special occasion or celebration, or just for good eats. You won't be sorry you went!

Food was delicious! On Valentine's Day my wife and I decided to share four small plates and a dessert. All were excellent and either the chef or the waitress (his fiancee) took the time to explain the origins of each dish, the sauce, and any accompaniments. It is a small restaurant (only seven tables), so things are close and the decor is modest. Go there for the food and service. They are top notch and you won't be disappointed. The food is also served with some nice touches - French press coffee at the end of the meal, dessert served on an elegant slate tablet, etc.

We liked this family run restaurant so much that we returned the next day. The food is fresh, homemade and delicious. The wine list has a nice variety to it. All dishes can be shared so be sure to try the Pupusas, fish tacos or even the vegetarian stew (Guiso vegetariano) for a starter. The paella caribeña is fantastic as an entree. This restaurant is a gem.

The food, service and ambiance was outstanding. What really comes across in the food is passion for creating delicious family recipes. My son who dined with us and is 10 (and picky when it comes to food) said it was the "best he'd ever tasted". Absolutely amazing - I would highly recommend Guiso Latin Fusion! You won't be disappointed...
