Guillermo's Restaurante Ratings and Reviews
I have been serval times and this is one of my favorites. Great food and service
Killer Margaritas ( although a little too sweet ...tell them and they will make it with more lime)
The place is very clean and lively with sports on tv at the bar
Guillermo is so friendly and always comes out to speak
We sat outside and the resturant was very full inside and out. The last few times we have eaten there has not been good service. We have to ask for water , chips and salsa at least three times.
Also annoying was a girl that came in selling chocolate bars going around to every table.!! She
and her sister were going all over that resturant bothering the customers. Not very professional to be annoyed by children selling candy!
They should be more attentive to their customers
and to peddlers annoying their customers.
Guillermo's is not your average neighborhood Tex-Mex spot. The menu is impressive and goes well beyond the typical burritos, enchiladas and tacos drawn from a common pot that we so often find. My wife's Fajitas were outstanding and the Molcajete was the best I've ever had. Service was prompt and friendly.
Guillermo's is DELICIOUS! Don’t go here thinking you are going to get your “standard” Mexican food. I describe Guillermo’s to my friends as “gourmet” Mexican food. Their food is almost delicate in the seasonings. Nothing is over-powering, none of the tastes are hidden. I even love their mixed vegetables! My favorite meal is the periquitos stuffed with shrimp appetizer (sometimes hot, but always really tasty) followed by the rib dinner. Yes, I said “ribs” in a Mexican restaurant. So good!
Guillermo's is one of our go to places in Palm Desert. Truly authentic Mexican cuisine served in a great, family atmosphere. The staff is top notch and very knowledgeable about the menu. Menu has a wide variety of dishes and the house specialties are superb.
Having read all the good reviews my expectations were high. We were disappointed. The octopus was oily and could have been more flavorful. Also a little tough. The chicken mole came with very little mole. Maybe a third of each breast was covered. The flavor of the sauce was good, but had to ask for more. The service, however, was attentive.
Very disappointed. I asked our waitress for another batch of tortillas. She asked me just one? I said yes knowing that there should be 3-4 tortillas in each pack. Moments later she returned with only 1 tortilla in the tortilla warmer. I called another waiter since she wasn't around & explained that I was expecting more tortillas in each pack. He showed us an attitude & asked ok how many do you want? I told him if I can have just 2 more. A minute later our original waitress showed up and instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding, she confronted and basically yelled at us that she asked we gave her the wrong answer. I think I'll never go back again.
I chose this restaurant for a get-together with an old friend based on their dinner menu. This is definitely not the usual Americanized Mexican food but interesting and authentic dishes. I had a wonderful mussels dish to start and then a truly wonderful octopus entree. My wife and our friend enjoyed they ordered although they were less adventurous than I was. we look forward to going back and trying many more dishes. The margaritas were quite good too, including one they call skinny. The owner stopped by to chat a few times and he is very nice. They let us sit there for over three hours on a Friday night without ever feeling rushed.
This is a fabulous family run restaurant. All the recipes are authentic family restaurant. Everything is delicious and freshly prepared every day. The Michoacána Carnitas are amazing, smoked for hours till crispy on the outside and tender served with a fruity and tangy tomatilla sauce. The octopus and the ceviche are also stand outs. In fact there is nothing we have eaten that isn't exceptional.
The crowds line up during the season to eat here so we decided to wait till it got slower. The food and service were great. A bit pricey but worth it if you want a very different type of Spanish food. Many interesting items on the menu you don't see in other Spanish restaurants.
Outstanding food and impeccable service! We eat here often and bring guests that are visiting from out of town. They are impressed every time and find the menu to be a wonderful change from the standard fare that one often finds in Mexican restaurants. Servers are always well trained and obviously committed to making their guests have a wonderful dining experience.
