One of our favorite places in a generally foodie-friendly city. This Friday evening, despite a request in OpenTable, we were not offered a booth, even though there were booths available. Noise level was, as usual here on a busy night, pretty high. Service of entrees was very slow, our server apologized and comped us an appetizer; she said they had a very large private party and the kitchen was backed up. Fortunately we weren't in a hurry this evening, and had just enjoyed a dozen oysters (always great here), so were okay with the delay. Steak and shrimp entrees were excellent.
Buzzy, good locally sourced eats, specialty cocktails.
Customer service is outstanding! Greeting at the door and with Jenna, our server.
Definitely worth the trip from my home which is about 45 miles away. Would do it again.
The food was great, service was slow, we were often left waiting for drink refills.
The Guild is one of those places we rarely think of and then when we go, wish we went more often. Excellent food. Interesting cocktails. Will go back!
Other than having my prepared food handled with bare hands it was a good experience.
I feel if other food organizations, Al's French Frys, McDonald's, Subway and the like, use correct food handling procedures, The Guild Tavern should also.
Everything the Farmhouse Group touches is brilliant. The Guild has a great blend of industrial meets Swedish inspired decor, with cozy ambiance and simple tones. Warm, friendly, welcoming, and the menu presents comfort food with the right amount of gourmet flare to make it sophisticated.
Visited with the family while my daughter was home from college. The steak I ordered was over cooked and the waitress never came back to ask how our meal was. I tried getting her attention but she was quite busy. Poutine was very good. We visit the Guild quite often and usually have a decent meal, so I’m hoping this was just a bad night because it is quite expensive.
The food isn’t worth the cost. Not memorable. The steak was good but not worth the price.
oysters were wonderful and steaks were cooked properly - guild understands what rare means! Always a great experience
Perfect night out. Excellent food and service.
I have been here once before and it was significantly better the first time I dined here. This time I visited, the service was incredibly slow after we got our meals. It was salty and my gnocchi wasn't cooked correctly. I would try again because I had such a good experience the first time, but if it wasn't great again, I wouldn't recommend.
Reservations at 7:45 pm. We arrived at 7:20 pm. Hostess tells us table not ready yet. Np we go to the bar and order a bottle of wine. 7:45 , 8:00 pm., 8:10 pm we finally go to hostess and explain we were the first 7:45 pm res. To show up and numerous people came in after us and they all were seated. She looks at me and asked me what my name was again.......... good food but extremely bad hostess.... or maybe it was bc we were the only minority couple in restaurant. Never going back.
We have been to The Guild multiple times. The menu is pricey but the quality and service are worth it. The food is excellent. Highly recommend the Sirloin for two carved table side.
Wanted to like it...unfortunately my dry rubbed blackened shrimp arrived lukewarm with tails on so a very messy experience! They were tasty, though! My companion's burger ordered as medium arrived completely red throughout, had to send it back! Martini and cab blend were stellar! Still, a $100. evening should be more satisfying!
Was super impressed with the staff and our waitress. Extremely professional, and never interrupting. Great business model, they are doing it right! The food was absolutely amazing, and cooked to perfection.
Great food and service.
We had a great meal and great service by Brie and enjoyed our meal from start to fin9ish.
Sadly, my husband, daughter and I all left feeling like dinner was sub-par. One of my daughter's chicken tenders was black - burned to a crisp. They did tuck it under the properly cooked tender but ... come on. The poutine (a favorite dish of mine) fell flat. The gravy was lacking flavor and most of it along with the cheese seemed to be melted to the bottom of the skillet rather than over the fries. Our burgers were just ok. On a positive note, our waitress was lovely and the salad dressing on the greens was delicious.
The food was exquisite, but I did kind of embarrass myself asking for a vegan/vegetarian menu after I read that they have one in an OpenTable review. They don't have one, but I was able to find more than enough food to enjoy. Highly recommended.
Great for grilled items done on its unusual wood fired grill. Steaks are expensive but worth it in quality, taste and size. Drinks are good but highly overpriced. Noise level tends to be high due to open kitchen layout.
I enjoyed the food very much. The setting was perfect. My friend and I planned a getaway and chose this place based on reviews. Fabulous....
Has become our local favorite for that special meal with family and friends. The staff are so attentive and friendly, the food is consistently delicious and the atmosphere really allows for a range of formality - informal dress to more formal. Love the open kitchen concept!
A nice evening out, great service and very good food. Too salty though! And I thin $16 for a burger is pushing it, not sure the farmer sourcing the food is getting that premium. Hate to see price gouging under the guise of local sourcing. Be careful there!
The only issue we had was that the salted caramel ice cream we had for dessert had cardboard in it.....very unappetizing.
Very noisy and very slow service. It took an hour to get our food. Waitress solicitous at beginning and end of meal.
Have been here many times. Food is excellent. Prefer sitting in the main dining room with view if the kitchen versus the side room.
Great food, great drinks, great service
Over priced for food that was so-so. For the price, we won’t be returning.
Welcoming service & very good food. A positive dining experience.
The food was good but steaks are extremely expensive. The bar drinks are good too.
It was fun to see the kitchen - which is right in the middle of the restaurant and open on the sides. This is a big restaurant, but feels special and isn't too noisy. The food was very good, and the service was excellent.
The service at The Guild Tavern was top notch. Our waitress was professional, courteous and efficient. The food was prepared in a timely manner and most importantly, served to us while still hot. Although some would say that the restaurant is overpriced, I disagree. The quality of service and food warrants and justifies a more expensive value. Thank you for being an establishment that values quality. I will not hesitate to return or recommend the restaurant to others.
Was wonderful as always!
Excellent service and quality/tasty food. Lots of variety on the menu.
Believe it or not, this meat tavern has an awesome off-menu vegan option. Our server made the suggestion that I try the chef's "Vegan Delight". It was SO tasty. Tasty, vinegary greens with potatoes and roasted root vegetables. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Can't believe I am recommending a steak place, but credit where it's due, right?
The food was good and the service was good but too noisy to try and conduct business. I had a hard time hearing the business client's.
I had to try this restaurant knowing it is owned by the same owners as The Farmhouse I need downtown Burlington (which is my favorite). We got to The Guild for a late dinner and I could tell it was the end of the night, but everyone was so nice! They have a cool cocktail menu , as well as an awesome beer selection. The cheese platter was amazing and the meals were incredible. The presentation was awesome! Very good meal, on the higher end price wise, but worth it!!
