Have been here numerous times over the last 20 years....HOWEVER, this time was unbelievable...maybe because we used a groupon this time? Waiter was rude, we felt EXTREMELY RUSHED, and when we commented to mgmt., on our way out (after spending almost $200.00) we were actually told "Don't come back again". Trust me...we won't. It is certainly NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE! NO CLASS!
Décor like stepping back in time. Food is great-old style Italian. Service was very bad this visit. I had to ask for bread four times.
We've been to Guido's twice in the last 6 months. We enjoy the "old-fashioned" classic feel of this Italian restaurant. The staff is attentive and the food delicious.
We often go here for New Year's Eve since they always have a DJ and dancing. This year they didn't give out party hats :-( but we still had a good time. Chicken and salmon were yummy, and the lemon cake is always great. Bread was tough, though. Service was good.
I loved finding this old school Italian place and thought it would be great for NYE. We had a great table and brought our own champagne($20 cork fee) however the service was terrible. It seems like it is a place where if you're a regular you are shown the red carpet but if you're new they could care less about you. Never came back to check on our meals, repour our champagne and water, and didn't come to ask for dessert or coffee. I ended up having to flag down a guy in order to get my check when there wasn't anyone else there besides a few tables. I would love to have an old school Italian place close by to frequent, however with the service provided I don't know if I'll come back.
16 Penn State fans in for the Rose Bowl spent NYE at Guido's and loved it! Good old fashioned Italian food and fun. Everyone, including the USC guests treated us wonderfully! Dancing, drinks and delicious food pleased our entire party from 13 to 60 years old!!!
Went there for New Year's Eve and and sat outside where it was a bit cold. The waiter appeared not happy to serve us and would leave and not come back for a while. The lasagna was amazing but my wife's fish was dry and my son's linguini scampi was ok. Will not be going back.
Food was good. we were surprised that they raised the prices for New Year`s Eve, the entrees were the same as the regular menu, nothing special. There was no entertainment when we were there.
Early New Year's Eve dinner. The place was packed. Great time.
We took out-of-town family to Guido's. Overall, it was an enjoyable enough. It was very old school Italian. Food was good. Wait staff were warm and accommodating. The one big bad error was this: My vegetarian husband loves pasta y fagioli - basically a bean and noodle soup - which he ordered. He took one taste and immediately knew something was wrong. Sure enough, it had bacon in it! The menu's description of the soup said nothing about bacon. Los Angeles is full of vegetarians. How can they NOT disclose on the menu that there's bacon in an otherwise vegetable soup. Very disappointing. Besides that, it was a pleasant enough experience. But Los Angeles is full of great Italian restaurants. There was really nothing here that made it stand out or rise above any of the other choices. And the "bacon incident" was very off-putting.
Amazing good. Great service with the exception of one bus boy :( will come back again and again!
Three of us enjoyed our Thursday night dinner at Guido's.....the fact that it is easy to hold a conversation, the comfort of the booths, good service and food combine to make a very pleasant evening. The lasagna was good as well as the bolognaise. My wife had the Spaghetti Arrabbiata, My wife and I shared a Prosecco, and the other person in our party had a cocktail. One Crème Brulee and one cup of coffee completed our meal....cost $125 including tip.
We had our law firm Christmas lunch party at Guido's. It was very busy, but both the service and food were excellent. Highly recommended for all occasions.
Guido's has been around for a while but it's kept up the standards. We had our small office Christmas party there with 5 people. The place looked very classy and interesting inside. There was plenty of room at the table. Everyone had different foods and we all enjoyed what we picked very much. The calamari starter is excellent. The menu is fairly standard italian restaurant fare but everything we were served was tasty and well prepared.
We've tried all sorts of restaurants over the years for our Christmas parties. I think we found a permanent home at last.
It's our regular spot in our neighborhood. My wife and I love the place! Good old-fashioned Italian food… And a very comfortable, atmospheric setting. Excellent service from real professional waiters.
We had a party of 10. We were all pleased with our meals, service and ambiance. Great job by the whole staff at Guidos.
A comfortable restaurant for good Italian Food and Service.....in an atmosphere that replicates restaurants 30/40 years ago.....red booths....low lighting and comfortable seating without the noise.
I loved it. It felt amazing as far as the ambiance, it was very quiet and all the servers were very attentive especially to the consumers and the attention to detail.
All was great until after we paid the bill (and gave a hugely generous tip). I was finishing my wine and the server asked if I could stand up or sit at the bar to finish my wine as someone else wanted our table (the restaurant was 10% full with only 1 group of 3 waiting). I was furious and wish he'd said that before we tipped as we would have left $1. I will never go back because of this. So disappointing.
A place where you can have a conversation and actually hear what the other person is saying!!!!
It feel's like home to us as we eat there nearly every week.....good service and food plus pleasant ambiance....a throwback to yesteryears with the big red booths. We usually have pasta or a chicken dish so I can't comment on the rest of the menu.
The food is very delicious and service outstanding. Great place to have a business meeting to discuss matters.
I love Guidos! The low rating for ambiance has only to do with the harsh lighting at our table. It was very unpleasant, especially for an old school Italian place that we go to for the darker, romantic ambiance. It can be quick fix, and will certainly not keep me from returning.
Always enjoy our meals here......love their seafood pasta and pastas in general as well as their chicken dishes......also enjoy their Guido's salad....service is good and caring. Bruno, the host on Sunday nights, is very genial and greets everyone warmly. One of the few restaurants where you can actually hear the table conversation!
Usednour groupon coupon and had a great meal of veal piccata and veal marsala
The food was good, but the service was not up to par. There did not seem to be enough waiters.
Warm and welcoming staff and atmosphere. Love the Guido's salad and the Creme Brûlée.
This time I had the Bronzino (special) with lemon-butter sauce. It was terrific.
Usually it is well-staffed, but they were way under-staffed the Sunday we were there, but they did their best and were extra nice and attentive once the crowd thinned out a bit.
Ask for Jimmy. Friendly waiter.
Also, if you want a Ribeye steak and it isn't on the menu that night, ask as they sometimes have some in the back and worth the extra effort.
I thought the food and service was good. The layout of the restaurant seemed odd, we went for a table inside facing away from the TV with the baseball on. The table great, i find it so strange though that nice restaurants will show a baseball game as it changes the atmosphere.
Excellent service. Good quality "old school" Italian food. Ample portions. Pleasant to be a restaurant where you can have a conversation without having to yell. Veal chop excellent.
I have been coming here for years - great service and ambience and I love the food.
Food and service were very good. Lunchtime on a Monday was quiet, so we could talk easily. Have been there before and would go again.
The service was
I made this reservation one month earlier to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. When we arrived, we were informed that seating inside the restaurant was not available as the entire restaurant had been taken over by a private party. So no red leather booths with twinkling lights. Instead, we sat outside on a patio on plastic covered benches with a stiff cold breeze. Next, my wife ordered a daiquiri -- you know, the classic drink made with lime and rum? She was served a strawberry daiquiri that the waiter insisted we had ordered. No way! My wife is allergic to strawberries. Bad night all around on my wife's milestone birthday. Two things won't happen again: my wife's 70th birthday and dining at Guido's.
Incredibly noisy and banquettes that are a little small.
We always enjoy coming to Guido's, a very friendly, comfortable and good food.
Tired old time Italian food that you may have ordered 45 years ago. Not terrific.
Great food and service - and you can hear the people you're eating with!
Seafood salad & veal parmigiana excellent. Service very slow. Took 1/2 hour to get main course. Patio are more quiet but very warm & "close".
Old school Italian! Average dishes good prices service good as well. Wine list limited and pricey. Went on a Groupon probably good once won't go back.
Great old school Italian food
