Guardado's serves up authentic, flavorful dishes from Spain and Latin America, in a casual and inviting atmosphere, in the heart of Bethesda, Maryland. We now offer Brunch on Sundays
Chef Nicolas Guardado and his wife Reyna opened Guardado's Restaurant in 2007. Guardado brought with him a wealth of experience, rising through the ranks at local-area tapas restaurant Jaleo to a seasoned head chef.
Now, he is infusing that knowledge into his own restaurant, as well as adding some popular Latin American entrees and some traditional dishes from his native Salvadorean background to Guardado's extensive menu.

Guardado's Ratings and Reviews
Great food. Small authentic place. Very pleasant service. We ordered the tapas, and some ceviche. Flan and tres leches cake for dessert. Everyone loved the food and added this place to repeat list. Likely to become a favorite place to come enjoy a meal with friends
Once Guardado's came to my attention, I went there to eat every chance I got.
In particular, I enjoy treating friends to meals there in celebration of special occasions.
Never ever have I been disappointed by the quality of the food or the level of service! Both are deservedly praiseworthy.
Having come back from some time in Madrid and Andalusia some months ago, my husband and I love to make a meal of tapas. We were delighted with Guardado's! It's a block off the beaten path of one of Bethesda's restaurant pockets, and a jewel. Simple but bright and pleasant decor, knowledgeable, friendly but non-obtrusive service, and each little dish was as well prepared as it possibly could have been, creative and delicious, with appropriate portions. The waiter brought out each dish as it was ready, so all was fresh, and we had the pleasure of a new surprise every few minutes. This is now our local tapas spot!
Two Women shared three tapas (or small plates) a tender steak, a mushroom and shrimp dish and an endive, mandarin orange and delicious cheese salad. (On other visits I've had the wonderful lamb chops. I also love a fabulous dessert ---tres leches cake.) This time we had flan for dessert. My friend, from Florida, was amazed at how reasonable our check was.
Excellent food, tremendous value, very good service, always consistent. This place flies under the radar and might be the best Tapas in the DC area. Price wise=excellent, food quality is great. Always have had a very very satisfying meal and experience here, not flashy, not expensive an excellent neighborhood restaurant that deserves to be on your list!
Every now and then, our teen boys just want a pile of pasta, so my wife and I give it to them and find a restaurant on short notice. On these nights, Guardados is always among the 3-4 at the top of our list. With their tapas menu, two people enjoy a lot of different tastes. Each dish is invariably delicious, and compared to the big names with similar menu styles, their prices are quite reasonable. The staff is always gracious, eager to please, helpful with specific suggestions and genuine. The decor is not meant to impress. It feels like a local place, and that's appealing for spouse night out. Your money is going to the quality and preparation of the food--a great value. We love Guardados and are grateful it's in our neighborhood.
Once again Guardado's does not disappoint -- the food is always fabulous! I periodically try a new dish and realize that I now have another favorite. There is a wide range of tapas so you can accommodate vegetarians as well as meat eaters. My only suggestion/criticism is to make sure that the tapas are accompanied by serving spoons -- I frequently had to ask for them!
There's another spot nearby that's better known for tapas. For a change, we went a few weeks back. More variety, perhaps more refinement, but in the end, just not as satisfying. We love everything at Guardado's, from the frittata to the croquettas to the chorizos etc. And you can't beat the price for the quality. Good service and location. Always a great meal. (Family-friendly, too! Tonight was my son's birthday and given the chance to pick anything, this was it. And it lived up to the occasion.)
Awesome! As always! Wife and I did restaurant week and ordered 8 tapas plus 2 desserts! Needless to say, we could not finish it all so took home leftovers. The tapas were great as well as the desserts: tres leches and homemade flan. We definitely recommend Guardado's even if it's not for restaurant week.
