Guantanamera is a friendly, fun, vibrant Cuban restaurant featuring traditional Cuban fare, magnificent mojitos, complimentary hand-rolled cigars, & Live Cuban music. As indelibly Cuban as the classic love song that bestowed its name, Guantanamera, captures the essence of Old Havana with its exotic décor featuring exposed brick, candle-lit tables, rattan-covered ceiling fans, and hand-painted folkloric murals.
The hostess, staff & establishment owner were friendly & hospital. Entrees were flavorful. There was live music & dancing. Definitely worthwhile to visit.
Lots of fun and great place to hang, dine and dance on a Saturday night!
Guantanamera is always a wonderful time. The ambiance, the food, the drinks, and the live music hit the nail on the head. I would recommend their mojitos and their Bistec Palomillo (steak with grilled onions)
Great Cuban food, terrific live music, warm environment!!! Must go.
Great food, service and price. I already did recommend it to a friend. Would definitely return.
I'm a vegetarian so it wasn't the best place for me, but my husband and friends who aren't vegetarians loved it. The service was great, we loved the murals on the wall, and it was fun to get a taste of Cuba.
The food was very good however the maduros were not ripe enough when cooked and not very sweet. However the staff was very accommodating when we mentioned it and gladly took it off the bill. Mojitos were amazing and the music was very nice.
This was a great place to celebrate our last night in town. The food and service were very good. The noise level made it a bit difficult to converse with one another, but it was the holidays and everyone was celebrating and happy. The Mojitos were superb and are highly recommended. Guantanemera is well worth an evening.
Every time I'm I the area I make it a point to stop in, the food is outstanding, authentic Cuban cooking served with love. The cocktails, sangria and mojitos, perfection! The service is always warm and friendly, just make sure to make a reservation.
This is a small lively restaurant and bar but the noise level maybe too much to make conversation . The waiters are good and attending . The food is so so ....probably return for the bar only
Once thier band starts playing, everything falls into play. The food, the ambiance changes and you actually feel like you are in Cuba! Food was really good, Price range acceptabke for a restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. Overall a great dinning experience
This was our second time at Guantanamera and it was every bit as good as the first time a few years ago. This time I had a mojito and loved it. Not sweet at all.
All our entrees were excellent. If you like Cuban or Latin Caribbean influenced food you must go!
Good food, service. Host was accommodating.
Very good Cuban food and drinks. Definitely go for the live music. Overall, quite an enjoyable outing.
Delicious and authentic Cuban food and excellent Mojitos! Our whole family enjoyed it. Service was great!
This was my second time dinning in a few years. What an unpleasant surprise it was!! I made a reservation for two at 6pm. Got the restaurant well before my reservation time and waited in line to check in for 15 minutes. Service was fast. However, food was not as tasteful and enjoyable as I recall a few years back. Will definitely not return!
We were greated promptly by the hostess and seated immediately. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious as were our drinks. We were not rushed even though they were busy. We will definitely be going back.
Always a great time. Live music , warm service and awesome food. Drink selection is very nice. A must when visiting from out of town.
We discovered Guantanamera last time we were in New York and couldn't wait to come back. Food was delicious and service was exceptional. Nothing is worse than returning to a restaurant to find it isn't as good as you remembered. Not an issue with Guantanamera, everything was just as wonderful as I remembered. And they went above and beyond - we had 2 kids and even though they don't have a kids menu, they made them chicken fingers and fries that were so good, the kids had to fight off the adults!
The the food was so flavorful and the atmosphere is festive with people dancing. The service was excellent and we will definitely go back again when we return to NYC. Fabulous place!
Been going here for years and it’s as good as ever. Food is great. When live music is playing this place is a lively ton of fun.
This is my daughter's favorite restaurant so we always go there on her birthday. The entire family always thoroughly enjoys the food and music. The kids especially love the stuffed fries and Cuban sandwich. I love the vegetarian paella and sangria.
Great food. They honored my Open Table reservation with packed house. Excellent service.
Service was slow, food was ok, overpriced. You are better off going to Sophie's down the block for casual Cuban food.
Great service, food. Would recommend to friends and family
Luis was a fabulous waiter! From the moment we walked in and the hostess offered to take our coat, the whole experience was first rate. Ambiance, drinks, appetizer and the two entrees we had were great! On my next visit to NYC, we will for sure have the grilled squid again.
Had a very delicious dinner before going to a show at Jazz Lincoln Center. Great neighborhood gem .
Great place for Cuban food i would recommend to friend, although we were celebrating a birthday and no complementary desert or drink this was on a $500 check.
Vacation to New York from Houston, Tx
Great food (Cubano sandwich + Sopa de Pollo = yum), great live music (get up and dance), cool vibes! Can't wait to bring my San Diego family back to experience.
Good food, great drinks and service. Awesome music
CUBAN HOLE IN THE WALL KINDA NYC PLACE WITH LIVE CUBAN MUSIC ON THE SMALL STAGE. VERY GOOD VALUE. SMALL LOCATION, INTIMATE, VERY GOOD FOOD!
The food at Guantanamera is very good. But the service situation needs to change. We arrived 10 minutes late for our reservation. We waited at the door behind a big group for a few minutes and finally went in search of the hostess only to find out they had given our table away. When we pointed out that we were only 10 minutes late -- the hostess said you were 12 minutes late. No -- we waited 2 minutes trying to find you. This is a theatre district restaurant which is why we made an early reservation and the 20 minute wait for the next table was unacceptable. Luckily we were able to sit at the bar and order. Bar servers were very attentive and food came out quickly. I've NEVER heard of a restaurant giving a confirmed reservation away after 12 minutes. I even talked to them a couple of days prior to straighten out a mixup in the reservation. I would have appreciated a text or a phone call to check on our status prior to giving our table away. Be on guard if you decide to reserve this restaurant pre-theatre when waiting is not an option.
Very enjoyable restaurant. Cheerful atmosphere with Latin music playing as we ate but not not too loud as to hinder conversation. I had ropa vieja which was delicious and my husband had paella. We both enjoyed our meals.
The service was great. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. The manager was great and very accomodating. The food was superb. Everything was near perfection.
We were visiting NYC and staying just a couple of blocks from Gauntanamera. We passed by it several times and thought it looked very inviting. On our last night in NY we wanted to eat close to our hotel, and decided to give it a try.
It was a wonderful experience. The decor is very inviting, and was even more whimsical with the presence of Halloween decorations. We share a pineapple/lettuce/avocado salad with mango dressing, which was very good. We also shared a paella, which was as good as any paella I've had in a restaurant. (The one I make at home is always better!:) I also had the best mojito ever!
Best of all, even though it was a Sunday night, there was a band - a little Cuban themed trio that we thoroughly enjoyed. We even decided to stay for some dessert (tres leches cake) so we could hear the rest of their set.
This isn't a white table cloth kind of place, but it's a lot of fun with reasonable prices for NYC.
Great food great time. They move the chairs after 10pm and salsa dancing breaks out. We went two nights in a row. If you’re in the Times Square area it’s 3 blocks over. Highly recommended.
delicious, great food, great drinks.comfortable music level ,ambiance appreciated
They made my birthday very special. The service was impeccable.
