Guantanamera is a friendly, fun, vibrant Cuban restaurant featuring traditional Cuban fare, magnificent mojitos, complimentary hand-rolled cigars, & Live Cuban music. As indelibly Cuban as the classic love song that bestowed its name, Guantanamera, captures the essence of Old Havana with its exotic décor featuring exposed brick, candle-lit tables, rattan-covered ceiling fans, and hand-painted folkloric murals.
The place is fun, and the menu is filled with recipes that are off the beaten path, even to those who eat a lot of Latin food. Ok, there was a similarity in the sauce and prep style between the pork and beef, an the pricing felt a tad on the high side (but truthfully, when is that NOT the case these days?), but the service was gracious and professional, the food nicely prepared and plated, and the overall vibe and festive atmosphere made it a fun and enjoyable dinner.
The table top was dirty, the wine vinegary, and the appetizer inedible so my wife and I left.
Great food and service and prices are reasonable. Well executed.
I had such a good time here. I went on a Friday night, and here was live music, the food was awesome, the pitchers of mojitos were on point! The owner came around and asked us how everything was and I just love the family atmosphere. Cant wait to come back again.
Fantastic food, fresh and good quality.
Attentive waiter and a lovely ambience.
Book because very popular
Probably the best place we at at while in NYC. Amazing food and fun people. The owner checked in with us and made sure everything was great. Hope to visit again.
Great restaurant, we will come back here, we celebrated our wedding anniversary, thanks you all.
Great food, live music and service
Great place for Easter Sunday lunch, the live music was so fun!
Nice dinner, great atmosfere.
We had a few friends up from New Orleans and were having a tough time deciding where to eat. When we remembered that Guantanamera had live music (along with great food), the choice was made. Our server was friendly and very attentive. The appetizers were delicious (empanadas and yuca frita). The sangría and rum & cokes were on point. The dinners were fabulous. I had the salmon and loved it. We topped things off with dessert (the chocolate dessert is worth the wait!). Overall, we had a perfect night out!
Lovely interior, wonderful music, great food, amazing lunch special. We will be back!
food from start to finish was amazing. if you want a soft, intimate environment this isn't it but if you are up for bustling Cuban cafe feel this is for you.
Had lunch here for something different. Cuban sandwich was fantastic. Surprisingly good mojitos by the picture as well. Loved the croquettes and ponchos and chicken Guantanamera. I would recommend this place and would go back!
Great vibe food was great. Music was a little too loud but would still definitely return
Great restaurant for large group, live music was a bonus. Food was great. Service was great.
Food was okay and my friends and I felt rushed throughout our entire meal. However, the ambiance was great and they have amazing drinks for happy hour! Great place if you’re just looking for a good time!
AMAZING!! THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC.!!! THE WAITERS..THEN THE GUITARIST GOT THERE..THE BEST EVENIG CELEBRATING MY DAUGHTERS BIRTHDAY...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Terrific food, great bar and rum list and super great music and atmosphere. A visit to NYC always includes a visit to Guantanamera.
Guantanamera was just noisier and busier than I expected at 6PM on a Saturday and that distracted us from having a good conversation there. I want to commend the staff for being knowledgeable about celiac disease and gluten-free options.
Great location for Cuban food and great drinks in NYC
THEY SERVE OLD FROZEN FOOD BY REHEATING IT. I walked out after the appetizer.
I ordered the appetizer and it came within 2 minutes! I was surprised at the speed of the service. Shockingly, all pieces of the appetizer were of the same size in addition to the speed of service.
I asked the server if this was cooked fresh and he said it was. I asked for the manager.
The manager truthfully told me they use frozen food for a lot of their service.
Great food and atmosphere. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, you should expect to pay Manhattan prices for cocktails but it is definitely a enjoyable night out
Excellent food. Excellent cocktails. It was truly a delicious and wonderful experience.
We were welcomed right away by the hostess and had to wait only a few minutes to be seated. Unfortunately, we waited almost 15 minutes after that before anyone brought us water or took a drink order. It seemed that our waiter went on break or something. The hostess did come over to check on us and was the reason the waiter finally appeared.
Things were fine after that and the owner also came over to make sure we were ok. The food was amazing. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
Waited 30 minutes for a waiter to come to the table. It took 1 hour and half to be served
Used to come here a lot - not any more. Don't like NY Restaurants who push the drinks over the food. It means it's more about money than eating. And when a patron says "sin sal quando es possible" they mean it. It's a health thing. Most food just served with rice and beans. A little salad can't be that expensive. Disappointing.
Best Cuban food in NY by far. Music is great but very loud. Don't plan on conversation once it starts.
The mango mojito was superb. We enjoyed our dining experience. It was quiet enough to socialize. The food was amazing. You will not be disappointed!
A most enjoyable post theater dinner. We ordered the Paella Marinera, a seafood dish, consisting of clams, mussels, shrimp and squid, prepared with a saffron flavored rice and vegetables. The meal was served, on a very hot, flat metalplate. The service was attentive and proficient.
The ambiance and food are amazing along with the service
Our favorite place to eat after-concert. Love the live music in the evenings! Delicious food every time. The mojitos and sangria (especially the white sangria) never disappoint. Artwork in the dining room is beautiful!
Food was good but tables were too close to one another. No privacy. Felt like we were being rushed in and out. Will I come back maybe will I recommend to a friend maybe.
Pre-theater meal, everything was fantastic - food and service to help us get off to the theater on time!
Hot and cold it seems as far as full experience with food and atmosphere.
This is a very nice place with good food and great music. The only issue was our waiter...it did not seem that he was trained very well. He went around our table taking orders, I felt he was rushing us, and when he got to me I said I needed more time and to come back in a few minutes. He came back about 10 minutes later and took my order. Next thing I knew, my family's orders all came to the table, but not mine. When I questioned him why they were not all coming out together, he told me that I took too long to order so he put their orders in first. Need I say more?
Food is not bad but cheese is too thin for cuban sandwich. Service is good though.
