The food and service was very good. However, the tables were crowded together, the noise level was very very loud and there was a band. Not a good place to eat if you want to hold a conversation.

We had gone to Guantanemera after a matinee in the Theatre District, only a few blocks away. I had the Camarones al Ajillo which included half dozen shrimp in a mild garlic sauce and the entree was Masittas de Puerco with Congri. It was marinated tender pork chunks with a bit of a sizzle on the surface, served with the tasty rice/bean Congri and Spanish potato chips. On the side it is IMPERATIVE that you order the Maduros, sweet plaintains with dinner. My wife had the Cubano Classico sandwich and we shared the cool refreshing Crema Coco for dessert. The place was pretty packed on a Sunday afternoon and all the food and attention by a "team" of waiters was wonderful.

Great Cuban food but the mojitos are the star! The mango was so delicious. Not too sweet but so light and tasty. The empanadas were stuffed with a flakey chicken and served with a green sauce that completed the dish. The main dishes were served with rice and beans and we had the shrimp in garlic and white wine. Large tasty shrimp swimming in a delicious broth. The star was the skirt steak with chimichurri sauce. Tender and generous portion. Attentive server and all around good time!!

Valentines Day. The restaurant was decorated for the occasion. There was a special menu, but we ordered from the regular menu. Food and service were great. Good sized drinks. Very nice.

We enjoyed our meal at this restaurant. A good variety of tasty appetizers (the ham croquettes were particularly good), creatively presented Cuban entrees, including suckling pig, ropa vieja, and carnitas, attentive service. We were there on a quiet Monday night, and there was some very nice live music from a duo of a guitar player and bongo player. A warm chocolate cake dessert with ice cream rounded out the evening. We'd definitely go back.

We celebrated my brother's Birthday. The live music, delicious food, and good cocktails made Guantanamera a great pick!

This place has delicious food, a congenial waitstaff and a great location. What else do you need? The prix fix lunch menu was a real value. I'll be back for sure!

We started with the beef empanadas and the tostones rellenos. For entrees we had the Lechon Assado and the Churrasco con Chimichurri. For dessert the torrejas and the tres leches. All the dishes were very good!

They have a decent selection of beers but only by the bottle - no draft.

The atmosphere is casual and nicely decorated, and service was good. We were not rushed at all.

Great for pre/post theater dining if in the 55th St area (e.g. New York City Center.) We will be back.
