Guantanamera is a friendly, fun, vibrant Cuban restaurant featuring traditional Cuban fare, magnificent mojitos, complimentary hand-rolled cigars, & Live Cuban music. As indelibly Cuban as the classic love song that bestowed its name, Guantanamera, captures the essence of Old Havana with its exotic décor featuring exposed brick, candle-lit tables, rattan-covered ceiling fans, and hand-painted folkloric murals.
Luis was a fabulous waiter! From the moment we walked in and the hostess offered to take our coat, the whole experience was first rate. Ambiance, drinks, appetizer and the two entrees we had were great! On my next visit to NYC, we will for sure have the grilled squid again.
Had a very delicious dinner before going to a show at Jazz Lincoln Center. Great neighborhood gem .
Great place for Cuban food i would recommend to friend, although we were celebrating a birthday and no complementary desert or drink this was on a $500 check.
Vacation to New York from Houston, Tx
Great food (Cubano sandwich + Sopa de Pollo = yum), great live music (get up and dance), cool vibes! Can't wait to bring my San Diego family back to experience.
Good food, great drinks and service. Awesome music
CUBAN HOLE IN THE WALL KINDA NYC PLACE WITH LIVE CUBAN MUSIC ON THE SMALL STAGE. VERY GOOD VALUE. SMALL LOCATION, INTIMATE, VERY GOOD FOOD!
The food at Guantanamera is very good. But the service situation needs to change. We arrived 10 minutes late for our reservation. We waited at the door behind a big group for a few minutes and finally went in search of the hostess only to find out they had given our table away. When we pointed out that we were only 10 minutes late -- the hostess said you were 12 minutes late. No -- we waited 2 minutes trying to find you. This is a theatre district restaurant which is why we made an early reservation and the 20 minute wait for the next table was unacceptable. Luckily we were able to sit at the bar and order. Bar servers were very attentive and food came out quickly. I've NEVER heard of a restaurant giving a confirmed reservation away after 12 minutes. I even talked to them a couple of days prior to straighten out a mixup in the reservation. I would have appreciated a text or a phone call to check on our status prior to giving our table away. Be on guard if you decide to reserve this restaurant pre-theatre when waiting is not an option.
Very enjoyable restaurant. Cheerful atmosphere with Latin music playing as we ate but not not too loud as to hinder conversation. I had ropa vieja which was delicious and my husband had paella. We both enjoyed our meals.
The service was great. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. The manager was great and very accomodating. The food was superb. Everything was near perfection.
We were visiting NYC and staying just a couple of blocks from Gauntanamera. We passed by it several times and thought it looked very inviting. On our last night in NY we wanted to eat close to our hotel, and decided to give it a try.
It was a wonderful experience. The decor is very inviting, and was even more whimsical with the presence of Halloween decorations. We share a pineapple/lettuce/avocado salad with mango dressing, which was very good. We also shared a paella, which was as good as any paella I've had in a restaurant. (The one I make at home is always better!:) I also had the best mojito ever!
Best of all, even though it was a Sunday night, there was a band - a little Cuban themed trio that we thoroughly enjoyed. We even decided to stay for some dessert (tres leches cake) so we could hear the rest of their set.
This isn't a white table cloth kind of place, but it's a lot of fun with reasonable prices for NYC.
Great food great time. They move the chairs after 10pm and salsa dancing breaks out. We went two nights in a row. If you’re in the Times Square area it’s 3 blocks over. Highly recommended.
delicious, great food, great drinks.comfortable music level ,ambiance appreciated
They made my birthday very special. The service was impeccable.
Wonderfull authentic cuban food! Had a great time. Would recommend anyone to check this out!
Took a friend for her birthday before seeing "Hamilton" and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Polite and attentive service (the guys re-filling our water glasses were impressive), fun and energetic vibe with good music, strong drinks, and delicious Cuban cuisine. My fried pork bites (forget the Spanish name) were on the dry side, but everything else was wonderful.
Went before theater. Calamari was great; remaining dishes were solid but uninspired.
Good food good music good atmosphere
muy rica comida y muy agradable el lugar. la música en vivo muy buena. la atención estuvo muy bien también. recomendable
Celebrating after the Tunnel to Towers run with my family 💗
Great food as always and the best mojitos
This is our favorite restaurant in New York - the Cuban food & live music makes for a fabulous night out! We always come when we’re in the city.
Great, excellent service.
Our server Javier was fantastic - friendly, patient, informative, and attentive. Loved the decor and overall ambience - really did feel transported back to old Cuba for a couple hours. The food was a bit disappointing. Calimari was tough and chewy, and my pork bites were dry and overcooked. But my friend LOVED his oxtail and rice/beans, so maybe my menu picks were just an unlucky fluke. We also had to constantly wave off TWO gnats and a fly throughout our meal, which detracted from what was an otherwise fun and enjoyable experience overall.
The featured band was phenomenal and the food delicious. Perfect place for a 2nd date.
The service and food was great. Went for lunch wit friends from work to celebrate her bday. She loved it. Will definitely go back.
Went to Guantanamera in Forest Hills (loved it) and this one did not disappoint. Loved the flavorful Cuban sandwich, crunchy green plantains, tasty empanadas and the delicious flan finale. The cuban music, although not live, was nice. Service was excellent, waiter was attentive and very accommodating (he even gave me a sangria on the house!). Value was great considering the quality of the food. Highly recommend it!!
This restaurant has delicious food, but the only time the noise level is acceptable is Monday night, when the music is quieter. Or go for lunch!
Comida corriente y música en directo a todo volumen que no deja hablar. Si no eres un enamorado de la música cubana no vayas
Food was excellent and service was very good. One issue is that the restaurant was very hot and somewhat uncomfortable.
Small portions and high prices. Nothing special. Wouldn’t go back
A neighborhood gem! Delicious food, excellent service, and great music make for an enjoyable dining experience.
Delicious authentic Cuban food in a quiet atmosphere right near the theater district. We had time to eat leisurely and get to our show for opening curtain.
Good service, excellent food.
Been going to Guantanamera for years and never disappoints. Amazing food and amazing drinks and amazing service!!
Delightful and efficient servers. Plaintains delicious...Corina a bit overcooked.
Great mojitos and music
The food is very good, but the real standout here is the atmosphere and service. Welcoming, fun, lively. The best place for dinner in Midtown.
The live music was wonderful and definitely enriched the experience
