Guadalajara Original Grill Ratings and Reviews
We were there to celebrate 2 birthdays, food was great , Marachis were great they sang Happy Birthday in English and Spanish. Fresh salsa made right at our table. I do wish they had a gluten-free menu, I have not had problems with the fajitas so I stick to that. Always a great atmosphere , we enjoy it everything.
Every time I go to the Guadalajara Grill on Prince road I am never disappointed. The wait staff and table side salsa staff are always friendly and helpful. They always have a smile on their faces. The food is fantastic and the margaritas are so delicious. My favorite "go to" meal is the Chilie Colorado chimichanga. The beef is so tender and the sauce so delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
This place has substantially gone downhill! We set out for a lovely romantic dinner and both finished up in the bathroom with horrible stomach pain. We witnessed 5 people just in the back room sending food back and also complaining about the small portions. The manager with black glasses seriously does not care about customer satisfaction and unaccomodating.
The bright spot. ..Alfonso, hands down the best server in the house. He is spot on for your every need, friendly, and seriously good looking!
Guadalajara is authentic Mexican, with a large menu and plenty of old standbys as well as less usual things to choose from. Halibut Enchiladas are great ; Molcajete is generous and delish.
Tableside salsa preparation to your requested spiciness. Strolling mariachis. Good margarita selection. Always a fun place to bring visitors. Great casual, and colorful, dining option.
I made the reservation for 10pm because the website says it closes at 11 on saturdays, I got there and they said they were closing and that maybe it was another location open that late..the other location said they closed at 10. They need to change the time on their website so that it's not an inconvenience for people.
I have been to 2 of the three grills here in Tucson. The food is good, the service is good and there is a drink called the "Bandera" tri-flavored/colored frozen margarita that is just awesome. They have Mariachi Band and a Salsa cart that makes salsa to your liking...little pricey but good eats!
2nd "annual" Cinco de Mayo celebration here for our little group of ladies. Controlled chaos, but service was prompt and accurate. The salsa lady is always friendly and aims to please. The $5 margaritas (special for the day) were large and good. The food is slightly above your average TexMex, but you're paying for the terrific atmosphere, as well as the mariachis. Very fun!
We have rated this restaurant 5-Stars on our first visit 3 years ago. We have tried other Mexican restaurants in town, however, Guadalajara Original Grill is the best! It's a 5+ star rated restaurant. Our younger son came to visit us and he loves Mexican food. Without a doubt, he was in food heaven. He was impressed.
Tableside made to order salsa...outstanding!
We started with an appetizer, Queso Fundido Con Chorizo...the best!
The entrees: Mexican Paella, Beef Burro, Chicken Fajitas. All 3 dishes were excellently prepared and tasted soooooooo good. This is without a doubt our go-to Mexican restaurant in Tucson!
We made the reservation for 7PM and had a short wait for a table. We went to the bar where Roger, who was very personable, provided us with some details about the cocktails on the menu. He prepared our drinks with showmanship and then also took our photo with those good-looking drinks.
We expected the same type of personable service at the table but that was not the case. Our wait staff appeared to take our orders and stopped very shortly after our food was delivered and before we had our first bite. Two of the 4 dinners were considered to be well-prepared. The third dinner Portobello and chicken fijaitas had good portobellos and overcooked chicken. The 4th dish was chicken mole' and the chicken served were chicken tenders and were very overcooked. Our server was told about both dishes and the overcooked/dry chicken; yet she brought the check with the full charge for the meal and did not offer to comp any part of the dinner or to speak to the manager about the overcooked food. I did contact the manager who said she had had the same issue with the kitchen. She provided a comp at 1/2 the cost.
The salsa preparation is wonderful to watch and also to enjoy the flavors. The Mexican music is always enjoyable.
Fun but way too loud; couldn't hear each other talk at the table. A bit over-priced for so-so tasting food. Salsa cart was nice, but the overt prompting for tips was not nice. Mariachi trio was pretty good. Seats were very comfortable which is a nice change for restaurants lately. Sidewalk outside is too rough; a definite tripping hazard for the handicapped which Macayo's never fixed either. There is a huge, potentially axel-breaking pothole at the north entrance from Oracle Road that they should have fixed. Reduce the noise level and I may be back. They are not yet signed up for online reservations, and mine inadvertently went to the Prince Rd. restaurant with no one answering my e-mails about their mistake. This location should sign up for online reservations.
