Grove - Grand Rapids Ratings and Reviews
Grove's menu is amazing and the food did not disappoint. Both my husband and I ordered the 3 course meals (which was way too much food) which was great because we got to try a huge range of food! Plate sizes were great, especially for the price. Food was delicious and unique. Top favorite things: their old fashioned drink, ordering the 3 course meal plus the wine pairing, and the BUTTERSCOTCH pudding!
The flavors in the food is what sets Grove apart for us. We really enjoy the different foods we try here that we don't seem to get at any other restaurant. It is a bit pricey so we can't go too often but when we go for a special occasion, Grove doesn't disappoint. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. The tables are a little close together because the restaurant is on the smaller side.
My husband wanted to break the mold and try somewhere new for date night. After reading all the rave reviews we settled on The Grove. To be honest, I was excited to try the three course menu. We made the reservation online easily, and they were very accommodating when I called to say we were running 15 minutes late.
The menu looked exciting, even if I found myself googling the adjectives of nearly every dish (maybe my palette isn't as well-developed as I'd like to think!).
My husband and I both did the three course.
Our courses included the devilled eggs (decent), hoagie (average at best), sushi (disappointing), crab wonton (disappointing), chicken (almost too soft, but it was okay), and the southern mixed BBQ grill (my husband could not handle it, he piled it expertly so as to hide the fact that he didn't like it- this is a guy who is always very easy to please).
We decided to try to dessert, and thank Goodness we did. The chocolate sphere was HEAVENLY! It was the proverbial rose in our thorn of flavor nuances.
You might be asking why we didn't complain, the answer is simple, our waiter! He was PHENOMENAL! He provided a 5 star dining experience, and went above and beyond what we could have asked for (even tried to help us name our new Yorkie).
I did see the shrimp and grits as we were leaving, they looked devine. So, perhaps we just ordered the wrong items.
We visited on a Thursday night. Our first time at this restaurant. Wanted to see what others were raving about. We did. The food and service were outstanding. Menu was diverse in its offerings which we liked. Many different selections and combinations from which to choose. I had a very rich and ample portion of lasagna which was well prepared and delicious. My wife had a tender duck confit which she said she “would order again”, her highest compliment for an entre. Great place and probably has a nice Eastown vibe on the weekend.
Grove has unique and flavorful dishes that we loved. The Rabbit Terrine was my favorite. Smoky, warm, with an array or beautiful veggies on top and a delicious sauce on the side. The Egg Trio and Salmon Crudo were also table faves. After traveling from Chicago and hearing great things about this place, we weren't disappointed. Our server, Nick, gave helpful suggestions and described the food well. The cocktails were also wonderful and had a good kick to them. I recommend the Dizzy Bird.
We went to Grove for my wife's birthday and were blown away by the great service and delicious food. Pretty pricey but you get what you pay for. Top notch cocktails and the 3 course meal was one of the best I've had in my life. Erin was our server and was very polite and knowledgeable about the courses offered. We will definitely be back to celebrate another special occasion.
Grove was a Yelp find. Food was amazing. Farm to table ingredients that wowed the taste buds. Shrimp and grits was the best! Signature cocktails created by a very good bartender. Our server was knowledgeable and always we around. Food was made at a great pace. The neighborhood was very unique and charming.
When in Grand Rapids don’t miss this spot
Grove is a fabulous asset to the Grand Rapids dining scene. The menu is inventive, the presentation is delightful and our waitress was just the best. Grove is one of the few restaurants where I don't care what I pay for my meal -- the experience is worth every penny.
The Grove has become the wife and I's go to spot to celebrate our anniversary and the celebration of our 7th year together was to be no different. We went with some more adventurous options and loved all of them (The Chili Pork Taco was superb).
Have said, and will continue to say, that it's the best restaurant in GR.
We drove a long way for our dinner reservation and it was well worth it. We went for our anniversary looking for something that had quality and an adventurous menu. It was exactly what we were looking for and since the menu changes I expect we will ve back again.
Grove was a very fine restaurant with lots of interesting choices, almost all food locally grown and quite delicious. The 3 course option was nice and worth it and the sparkling water was made from their own distilled water. The Tomato Tart was my wife and my favorite, absolutely delicious. Try this simple but excellent restaurant.
My wife and I visited Grove for our anniversary this year. They took pride in the small details, congratulating us, and seating us in a way that despite being busy afforded us privacy to enjoy our evening alone. The food was excellent and creative, and the service was top notch.
One of our favorite places in Grand Rapids. Very creative menu that includes regional & imported foods & interesting combinations of ingredients. Menu changes daily. Servers are very well trained & knowledgeable about the menu. They also have a fixed price option that is very flexible in terms of selecting 3 items & you can order 1, 2, and/or 3 without being obligated to all 3 items. That way you can pace yourself & not overeat. Highly ecommended
Second visit to the Grove, and enjoyed it very much. Only minor “complaint” was that they seemed to be trying a little too hard to make their main courses more complicated than necessary. I would definitely go back, but my personal preference is for simpler entrees.
