Grouse Mountain Grill Ratings and Reviews
Executive Chef David Gutowski continues to produce delicious and innovative cuisine. This Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York graduate has been the Executive Chef at Grouse Mountain since 2009. The food continues to get better and better. Appetizers such as Lobster Mascarpone and Lamb Meat Balls set the stage. (Don’t overlook the house-made “Tater Tots.”) Main courses include Cornmeal Crusted Rocky Mountain Trout, Braised Pork Spareribs, 14-day dry aged duck breast and the famous Pretzel-Crusted Berkshire Pork Chop. The star of the dessert menu is a takeoff of a chocolate tiramisu cake. It is decadent.
Service is spot on. Piano and vocal entertainment by Tony G tops off a lovely evening.
The food was delicious. Possibly the best tater tots I have ever had. The pork chop was excellent. The drinks were delicious too.
Service was a little slow. If we had made earlier reservations and been less tired from skiing we probably would not have noticed.
Grouse was highly recommend by the owner of the condo we rented. She gave us the heads up to reserve early; I’m glad she did. Our waiter Dave answered all our questions and more. Everything we ordered was great. My teenage adults ate things they wouldn’t normally. We had the Manchego & Truffle Tator Tots, Grilled Flatbread, House Made Sausage, Roasted Yam Ravioli, Ricotta Cavatelli, and New York Steak. We did feel the Ravioli and Cavatelli were too salty. Dave recommended the White Burgandy wine that was delicious. Would go back.
I was expecting a bit more from this place for the prices of the food. The appetizers were average and the bread that came out with the House Riccotta was too charred. The drinks were also a bit pricey. The main entrees were pretty good but the sides that accompanied them were average. The Creme brûlée dessert did deliver. As a fine dining establishment, this place was above average but would place it in the bottom 1/3 of all the places them I have been.
