Grotto's insanely fabulous tomato sauce
Outstanding service and food. Also loved the music. Great place for a romantic night out.
Great dinner at Grotto. Staff was terrific as usual. One of the most comfortable spots in the city. Food perfect as always (highly recommend their chicken parm).
Delicious food with a quiet atmosphere. Would definitely eat here again.
Great food and service. The gnocchi was one of the best I’ve ever had.
A small little restaurant with amazing food and service. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. We both had the Recula salad which was light and flavorful. The warm bread and olive oil with olives was a yummy beginning. My husband had the gnocchi with short rib which he said was amazing delicious. I had the recommended Bolognese which was fantastic. My husband finished with a banana bread desert I had a few bites of to finish this great meal. We both had a drink and were pleasantly surprised by the low price for the homemade food. We will be back. Recommend reservations as the place is tiny.
The oysters were just perfect, as well as the salad. We had the Wellington tenderloin which was amazing and the the short rib gnocchi was amazing. We will definitely come back when in Boston. This restaurant is a hidden gem.
Food was amazing! Fairly priced with a nice atmosphere. Will be returning!
Grotto was an amazing find on our trip to Boston. The ambiance was amazing, a really cozy, at-home feeling. The food was spectacular, by far the best dinner we ate in Boston. Everything we ate was fresh, from the bread they brought out at the beginning of our meal to the exquisite dessert to finish with. Do a favor and get yourself the spaghetti and meatballs, the best I’ve ever had. Definitely stopping here on our next trip to Boston.
Small space but delicious food and drinks! A lovely place for a romantic dinner.
Perfect for date night. Delicious food, good wine, intimate setting so you can talk at a normal level and not be in a rush with all the courses you order. Definitely recommend!
Definitely lives up to the name! The restaurant is a hidden gem. The stairs take you down below the pavement of the street.
I'd recommend the prix fixe menu. I got the sweet potato ravioli, short rib gnocchi, and budino. The portions aren't huge, but the food is very rich. So I left the meal feeling extremely satiated. I wish I had more room for dessert because the budino was delectable.
Omg that Fonduta! But honestly, everything. Everything was amazing.
My girlfriend and I went for a nice date night. I didn’t know anything about the restaurant but wanted to give it a try. The food was incredible. Every dish was delicious. The portions were very large as well. Absolutely worth every penny.
As a bonus my girlfriend had a white jacket over the chair and they came and put a table cloth over to protect it. Every staff member was very kind.
Food is fantastic, portions are big and good for sharing. Service was really nice and the ambiance is lovely.
Everything here is unbelievable. This was the restaurant I missed the most during the pandemic and I am thrilled that they weathered the storm. The priced fixed menu is a great value. The chocolate cake is by far the best cake I've had in my life. I compare all other gnocchi to the short rib gnocchi at Grotto. Such a cute date night spot!
We had an absolutely wonderful meal. Wes, our server, was terrific and the food was out of this world. The restaurant is small but it has a nice atmosphere and we would recommend it, especially for a romantic dinner.
Great service and food. Experienced servers who knew best menu choice!
Girls trip last dinner… fantastic and absolutely delicious!
Amazing food, friendly service, very reasonable prices. The fonduta and the sweet potato ravioli were life changing.
Nice to be back in Boston at an old favorite I have not been to in years. Great cocktails, and prixe fix menu. Garlic soup and fonduta were great, the scallops fantastic and the gnocchi with short ribs was outstanding.
great night out!
This is my second time dining at Grotto and I'm completely satisfied. If you like an intimate venue with great food and staff, this is the place. Definitely recommend.
Every dish we ordered was amazing. Grotto is a hidden gem and is a great date night spot. We will be back often - highly recommend!
Very cute, quaint and cozy little restaurant my girlfriend and I really enjoyed for our anniversary dinner. Would definitely return!
Delicious food, lovely staff. I loved the funky underground atmosphere. I had the gnudi- melt in my moth delicious. My husband loved the spaghetti and meatballs. We are looking forward to going again the next time we are in Boston.
Nice quiet dinner with really good service. Portion sizes a bit too big for us so could have shared more. Good selection of wines.
Beautiful, attentive, delicious. My date was vegan, and they accommodated her with huge beet salad, and vegetable dish w/ vegan pasta. Obviously much smaller than Marliave, but has the same quality, attention to detail, and quality. Covid safety 5 stars also!
Awesome, awesome food, great wine. The site said "decadent. subterranean." and that was the perfect description. The place is ideal for 2 maybe 4. (The reviewer and their partner consistently travel around the world and visit good restaurants, talking michelin star caliber - just to add a bit of weight). Grotto is very adequately priced.
The food and drinks were delicious. The beef wellington and beef tenderloin were cooked perfectly. The banana bread pudding was delicious. Overall was very satisfied with my dining experience.
Quality has slipped over the past few years. I was told in prompted that the wellington would be medium and came out raw. Not going to be coming back.
The restaurant told its popular one dollar oyster did not serve that day without prior notice when we were there.
The food was absolutely delicious from the beet salad and duck confit to risotto, an amazing chicken parmigiana and a delicious short rib. An extremely efficient waitress and an organized and talented kitchen. Something to look forward to when we go back to Boston!
Grotto, as always, was the perfect combination of elegant, intimate, affordable, with terrific food and lovely service. 10/10.
This place is amazing, you are paying for the food, and it’s super worth it!!
I’ve never had a bad meal here! Their Carne dish is to die for, never a bad meal here. Highly recommend!
I had a very high opinion for Grotto from a previous dining experience. It used to be an upscale restaurant in all respects. Now, the only upscale part seems to be the price, not the quality any longer. It is very likely that this may be due to the deep losses suffered by boutique restaurants such as Grotto. I wish it bounces back to the fine dining experience unique to this place.
Food was amazing and portions were plentiful
Once again , We had an amazing dinner. Our waiter this time was Mr. West. He was awesome.
Food was amazing would go back tomorrow
I had such high expectations for the food and it really wasn’t good. My guest and I ended up eating less than half of our food. The waitress also lacked personality. I know it’s an upscale restaurant, but it makes your customers feel good when they know you’re somewhat relatable.
