Grotto, as always, was the perfect combination of elegant, intimate, affordable, with terrific food and lovely service. 10/10.
This place is amazing, you are paying for the food, and it’s super worth it!!
I’ve never had a bad meal here! Their Carne dish is to die for, never a bad meal here. Highly recommend!
Once again , We had an amazing dinner. Our waiter this time was Mr. West. He was awesome.
Food was amazing and portions were plentiful
Food was amazing would go back tomorrow
I had such high expectations for the food and it really wasn’t good. My guest and I ended up eating less than half of our food. The waitress also lacked personality. I know it’s an upscale restaurant, but it makes your customers feel good when they know you’re somewhat relatable.
The service was excellent. We have oysters, escargot, fra diavolo, and spaghetti and meatballs. The oysters were fresh and great. The escargot was also delicious. The fra diavolo and spaghetti were okay (not as good as the first time we had)
Grotto not only has fantastic food, but a great ambiance. Everyone in our party enjoyed all of their food, appetizer to dessert!
Grotto is my wife and my favorite restaurant. I really think it is three or four of the best meals I've ever eaten. Go and enjoy a great meal.
I just love anything I order.. appetizer was Escargot and Beet Salad with the fresh baked bread with olive oil which was amazing. The Chicken Parmigiano is one of my favorites.
My sister had the Fonduta. Salmon with creamy whipped mashed potatoes and spinach.
The servers were so sweet they came out singing happy birthday. They were not sure whose birthday it was so they put candles in both of our desserts. My sister loved the banana bread with caramel ice cream and I had Tiramisu.
Grotto never ceases to amaze me - great food, great drinks, great ambiance
Food was pricy for the very small portions, asked my girlfriend if this had been our first date would she be giving me a call back and she said no.
I am very satisfied with its oysters every time I visit. It is very fresh and tasty.
I would recommend it for a self-date (i.e. single diner, on somehow special days). It is not cheap but the food and service did worth the price.
Great date night spot. Classic pasta dishes at reasonable prices with wonderful ambience.
Great spot for a date, good food and ambiance and reasonable set prices.
Now that the menu includes some of the best products from Marliave and the one dollar oysters, this is absolutely a wonderful place to go many, many times and always order something different. Went twice in 2 days and plan to return in 2 more days.
Favorite restaurant in Boston—never disappoints.
Everything was delicious. I had the Escargot to start, followed by the Short Rib Gnocchi and ended with the Budino. My date had the Sweet Potato Ravioli to start, followed by the Spaghetti and Meatballs and ended with the Chocolate Cake. Everything was well seasoned and portions were just the right size. The staff was attentive, but not overbearing. The place has a "hidden neighborhood gem" kind of vibe and is tucked away on Beacon Hill side street. If you're looking for elegant event dining, then this is not your place. However, if you're looking for a really good meal at a quiet and off the beaten path kind of place, then Grotto is just the place for you and I highly recommend it.
The food here is always incredible and at a great value that’s hard to find anywhere else. Service was also very good. Grotto is consistently wonderful.
Was a great experience! Definitely going again soon! Thank you!
This is the new ultimate meal of our life! We went to this restaurant close to 18 years ago on our honeymoon but could remember the name. It became the standard by which every other meal would be judged. We would say, that is close to the Boston meal. We somehow found the place again, ate there two days ago ... and after our meal we said, this meal is now the new standard! You won't be disappointed.
My husband and I went during Restaurant Week. We had cavatelli and confit duck leg for appetizers, carne and wellington for entrees, and budino and tiramisu for desserts. We loved both appetizers, but the beef in both entrees was not impressive--it's not even better than our average cooking at home. The risotto that came with carne was really good though. I didn't like the tiramisu and the budino was quite average.
What an amazing restaurant week menu. Food and portions were incredible. The ambiance and decor are very romantic and give the feel of exclusivity. Had a phenomenal time.
Food was amazing! Can’t wait to go back
Excellent food, good service. Tiny little place. One of the best beef wellingtons around.
The food was amazing and the service was great. I would definitely return to this restaurant.
Very good food experience but was discouraged on how the place looked especially the quality of the restroom, very run down and unkempt
Had three courses and they were all amazing! I had the best Espresso Martini of my life and there was an amazing underground ambiance
This was our first time at the Grotto and will certainly not be the last! The service and food were absolutely outstanding.
The escargot were the best I'd had outside of France and the Fra Diavlo was just the right amount of spice and al dente, with perfectly cooked jumbo butter poached shrimp on top. The bolognese was also fantastic. Finished with very well prepared deserts.
Service was friendly, prompt and attentive, without being overbearing.
Only negative is that the wine menu is quite limited, so I hope that will be expanding in the future.
Great place for date night.
We'll definitely be back!
Nice cozy restaurant in Beacon Hill, food was very good.
The atmosphere was nice, though because it is a small restaurant, it seemed crowded.
Each of the courses were good but not great. Would not go back again.
Really delicious food and a lovely relaxing atmosphere.
Excellent restaurant. Will recommend for a nice atmosphere delicious dinner.
Grotto is one of the best Italian restaurants in Boston. Love their Garlic soup, Chicken Parm and basically any Pasta. Great ambiance with the exposed brick interior and perfect lighting. Makes for a fantastic dinner date.
Very good food and servers were extremely friendly.
Wonderful food, drinks, and atmosphere. Totally recommend if you are looking for a spot for an intimate and romantic dinner.
