Grindstone Charley's - Rockville Rd
First time at this restaurant and we will absolutely make sure to go back whenever we are in the area. Our waiters name was Troy and he was THE BEST!! We came in for my husband's birthday with a group of 7. He was quick and offered some awesome food and drink suggestions. But beyond just being a good waiter he made sure we were having a good time. Kept the table laughing. Absolute stellar guest service. We hung out and had a few extra drinks simply because we were having such a good time. He truly knows what he is doing. What would have been a $70 bill was quickly a $100 bill for your restaurant because he kept us there and engaged laughing and drinking. He made money, he made you guys money, he helped us start our night off on a good note. Thank you Troy!
The food is good and the service is excellent ! Would reccomend
Best Best Hamburger ever taste!
The food was good but the service was terrible. It took 15 minutes after we were seated to even see a server. The prime rib was cooked as ordered but I never seen the salad I ordered as a side. Drinks sat empty on the table for long periods of time during the meal. Would recommend for the food but not the service. On a positive note about service, as I looked around the restaurant there were a couple servers providing excellent service to their tables. If you eat here ask for anyone but Kayleigh to be your server.
The restaurant was quiet and not very busy so there was no wait. The food was ok I wouldn’t go back again.
My husband ordered the French Dip sandwich to say the least it was so dry and fatty he didn’t even eat much of it . He did comment to the waitress that it was chewy and dry but she just said sorry. We will not be returning to this location. My son visited the Crawfordsville Rd location recently and he said the food there was very good. We drove 45 minutes to dine. Terrible experience. We always went to the Greenwood location before it closed and no issues always good food.
Unfortunately it took 55 minutes for our food to arrive. My steak was extremely dry, it had definitely been sitting under the warmer. My husband’s meatloaf was lukewarm and the green beans were cold and soggy. There were several tables experiencing the same long wait while other tables were getting food out in 10-15 min. It was not busy, only 10 tables on one entire side of the restaurant.
I love this place. I wish I could remember my waitress name because she was the best waitress ever! I went there on a Friday night a couple hours before closing. Our waitress definitely made my night. The food is always amazing!
Food is good, no wait time, waiter is great, my request for a quieter area for an hearing impaired was not done as requested, which resulted my review to be 4 stars and not 5 stars. They could placed in the back room instead of near the bar. I blame this on the host not reading my request
Great prime rib and a nice selection of draft beers. all of the staf were very pleasant
My wife and I had the Prime Rib with two veggie sides. The prime rib was very tasty and was cooked to our specifications. There was plenty of lean meat for two meals - one at the restaurant and one at home. The broccoli and the mixed veggie sides were very nicely cooked, not overdone.
The atmosphere is casual (some may like, some may not). We were OK with the atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the service was incredibly slow and inattentive. Given that we were purchasing some of the most expensive meals and drinks, I would think that the server would want to capitalize on the percentage based tip. But no. Most of the time when we wanted something, we had to either wait quite a long time.
I would still recommend the restaurant because of the food.
We had the prime rib special on new years eve. It was excellent, large cut very little far.
Service was slow.took 1.5 hours to get food
Chicken cordon blue and Bison burger were very good.
My fiance and I have never been to this place and we decided to try it on short notice. I googled restaurants in my area and seen this place and checked the menu out online and was glad to see it wasn't too expensive. We absolutely loved this place and would recommend this to anyone & everyone!
Good with large crowd with kids
I always love the food service is good I will be back.
Took quite awhile to get a waitress to our table. It was not busy at all while we were there either. Almost all the employees were just sitting down talking while we were waiting. Very unprofessional. The food was good, just extremely unimpressed with the service.
Overall it was okay, with 8 people at our table our waitress seemed disinterested most of the time to our needs, she didn't come by to see if we needed anything, we had to flag her down. When we ask for some A-1 for our steaks it took about 5 minutes and then she only brought a small little dish full and said they buy it by the gallon and that's the way they serve it, well she should have brought us two each for our steaks we didn't ask for additional because she rushed off so quickly to disappear from our site we just went ahead and ate. My nephew had to go find her to let her know his steak was under cooked so he couldn't eat with the rest of us. maybe a different waitress may have made a difference but I doubt it because we seen them all around the front desk laughing and having a good time and not attending to their clients. Probably won't go back.
Tried it out because we had a gift card. Mediocre. Probably won’t be back.
The only critic I have is that they gave our table to another party. So they had to scramble to get seats for us and it was a surprise birthday.
We had a fun time and a very good meal. The ribs were very good, the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich was outstanding and the kids meals were very good. The waitress was attentive most of the time but got busy and so we had to get our own ketchup, ask for drink refills, etc without our asking. We will definitely return to this location again!
We were a large group 10+ with a couple small kids and staff was very accommodating and friendly. They let us move tables around to suit our needs. This is our family’s go to restaurant whenever we have a birthday or special occasion.
Food was good...Todd did a great job trying to stall when the bartender didn't know how to make a white Russian...got a discount because of attending show at 8 seconds....over all would recommend!!!
We rediscovered this location after eating there years ago, and found the same great experience with yummy steaks and prime rib. A surprising taste of fried green tomatoes as our appetizer gave us the feeling of home as a comfort food. We would recommend this Grindstone Charlie's to anyone looking for an excellent dining experience.
We had a group of about 25-30 people needing some quick food and good service! Food was great, service was excellent! They were very accommodating to our large group, service was quick and exceptional!
this was our 3rd and last visit to this location; first visit service was good, 2nd visit slower than necessary, this last visit was unbelievably slow. It took an hour and a half to receive our order and drinks.
Fun place. Good service
Our waitress was exceptional! We had a party of 9 people and she handled it timely, efficiently and pleasantly.
WE HAD OUR NEW YEAR EVE DINNER AT THE RESTAURANT, VERY WELL MANAGED, GREAT STAFF AND DELICIOUS FOOD! WE'LL BE BACK!
Made a reservation, didn’t need it. Only like 6 tables full. There was a special of 19.99 prime rib listed when we made the reservation, the server didn’t know anything about it. The service was terrible at one point the server flat out insulted my intelligence. The food was pretty good though, a smidge overpriced but the complimentary bread at dinner filled that void. Wouldn’t recommend.
Food good. Reasonable prices. Just thought the overall cleanliness is an issue. Need to get rid of that nasty carpet.
It was our first time going to Grindstone Charley's and it was great. Good food, good service, good value - we had a very good meal.
Great service, delicious food. Even though the patio was empty, the restaurant very kindly accommodated our request to sit outside, and the waitress who had to run from outside to inside to serve us was wonderful! She went above and beyond.
Visiting from out of town decided to try this restaurant. Walking in was like being with Frank & Mike on American Pickers from the History Channel. Loved the "Indy car" decore mixed with some other collectibles. Customers in included a large group and many regulars. Food was creative, large menu, and our burgers were excellent. The menu on-line has desserts first & the turtle pie recommended by our server was incredible. It was fun!
Food was very bland- serving size was good.
Waiter did a decent job
My wife and I were in Indianapolis for the weekend and picked this place, price was a factor, I didn't want to pay $70 for a dinner somewhere else. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, our server Shelby was very good and attentive and the food was delish.
Good casual family restaurant. Get the fried green tomatoes!
Serving good food at fair prices fo over 15years. A favorite each time I visit Indianapolis on Business.
One of our favorites for over 25 years to take the kids and now the grand daughter for a good meal.
