The food and drinks were delicious, the noise level not too loud, the service was slow at first, but got better
The server took too long getting or drink orders back to us from the bar. The food was very good.
Their pork tenderloin sandwich is great! Add fried green tomatoes and its perfect!
I had forgotten how great this place was. The slaw is the BEST!
We love to dine at Grindstone Charleys. The food is always delicious and served hot. My favorite is the onion soup!!
unfortunately we arrived just after a power outage. food was unremarkable, cold soup, tough steak. Another one off our list.
We had to send back our food twice, also our waitress was very rude and we had to ask for everything she kept on getting mad if we needed something, I will not eat here again! Also we asked for kid glasses she brought out big glasses, also we asked to speak to a manager that never happened also we told her our bill was separate from others she put it all on one bill! I would love my money back from this horrible experience!
Great food and service.
Excellent service from Antoinette. Food was good but little cold. It was a Sunday night . Will give a try again.
Food was good, but not much seemed to be made fresh/from scratch. (Fairly certain their mac n cheese is GFS straight from the pan.) Everything tasted good, but it's a high price point for what you get.
Food was bland at best but service was great!
Nice to eat out after virus virus kept us in so long, limited menu was a little disappointing.
The manager was amazing! We had a large party and she assisted our server to make sure we had great service. We had a mishap with my daughter getting sick, and she was incredibly helpful and gracious. Was much appreciated!
Good food, Good Service, Well priced. Location ok.
Everything all of our guests ordered was terrific! We highly recommend this resturaunt!!
My wife and I go to Grindstone Charley's when we want to have a quiet dinner together. The food is always great and the service is superb. Local management means a lot in running a great restaurant. The staff here is always working to make sure everything is right for their customers. We appreciate that. We highly recommend Grindstone Charley's.
I thought the food was not good. The kettle chips were good.
We went after the Purdue Christmas show. Made a reservation for 12. I am always worried with a group that large but our server was amazing!! She took great care of us. We were served quickly and efficiently. Food was very good for all 12. Place wasn’t too full hitch also concerned me. When we left we all thought we’d be back. Give this place a try, it is well worth the trip!
The staff was completely overwhelmed.
It was a busy weekend but they were not overloaded-so not sure what happened.
The good news:
But the server recognized what was happening ( hr. To get appetizers, drinks wrong, etc.) and she alerted the manager who comped our meal. So they made it right.
Food took forever, we ended up being sick that night
The menu provides many excellent alternatives. The food was excellent and served in a timely manner. I had the ribs and they were some of the best I’ve had. The ambience is great and while there were televisions they were not intrusive.
Disappointed with our meal. Son liked his ribs, and cheese curd appetizer, but husband only had a few bites of his pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich and my salmon was very over cooked (supposed to be one of their signature dishes). It took a long time to take our order and waitress never brought napkins we requested. Also billed full price for drink that waitress suggested as a happy hour special. Won’t ever go back.
Great casual restaurant
Met the family there for a local band competition..Everything great except fo a very wobbly table that we had to slide something under a table leg. But not a problem we couldn't handle.
Food was meh. Fly wouldn’t leave us alone. Caesar salad was not tossed and covered in blue cheese? Not a Caesar salad.
We went for a graduation 👩🎓 dinner and had a great time !! Food was good , service was great!
We will be back ! We will consider coming here for other celebrations!
Good selection and food for a chain. Exceptional service.
Our Mother's Day tradition is for my mom to come down from Lake County and I come up from Indianapolis, and we always come to GC's... we love it!
We went to Grindstones Charley’s to celebrate after our daughter’s graduation from Purdue. The food was excellent especially the spinach salad and the burgers. Our waitress was fantastic (I’m sorry I cannot remember her name). With reservations, there was no wait. I’d go back again!
Waitress was excellent! Steak was luke warm, loaded baked potato didn’t have hardly anything on it including butter. Potato wasn’t warm enough to melt butter and was hard like it was cooked yesterday and then briefly put in a microwave before serving. Onion rings were very crunchy and over cooked. Appetizers were very good as was the rack of ribs. Was really expecting better.
I was very upset with my Birthday experience on March, 10th. The server was great! But they served me day old chicken and noodles! Which was brought to my attention when they served my friend the same meal and it was soupy abd mine was not! Then i had to wait 10 mins to get my food. All are good came out at different times as well. You would think it would be at same time. They still wanted me to pay for the meal which upset me even more. I did not pay for the meal. I love coming there but this encourages me not to come back! I brought a group of 20 plus people for you guys and I got that type of service!
We were there for a birthday.
Everything was perfect! It was our first time at one and will probably be back!
Everything was excellent!! Couldn't ask for a better evening with my Husband.
Great food with great service, all for a fair price!
Our Wedding Anniversary is Christmas Eve.
So glad you were open for my wife and I and we had a great time.
This is one of our favorite places to eat. We came for our daughter's 16th birthday. The waitress was very attentive and food was good and cooked fast. the manager even came out to check on our meals and gave our daughter a free birthday dessert.
The baked potato soup and breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches are the best.
We will not be back to this restaurant. This was our second visit. Our first visit was mediocre. Despite having good servers both visits, the hostess and kitchen service needs serious improvement. This past visit, we arrived on time and we were promptly seated in an almost empty dining room right behind a table whose occupants were particularly loud and rude. Then, after placing our orders we waited approximately 1 hour to get our meals, which were appetizers and a salad, and some of which were cold while others were hot. Not wanting to wait that long again for our food to come back out we did not send back the cold appetizers. While we waited for our meal, I received an email from Open Table chastising me for not showing up to our reservation. I emailed back that I was, in fact, there as scheduled. I went out to the hostess station to let them know about the email so that I could be checked in with OT and I was told “to just ignore the email”...no apology for forgetting to put it in the first place. When I said that I’d like them to check us in w OT so I could get my points, the hostess acted annoyed. Our server did the best she could, but for a restaurant that was literally slow at the time, the ineptitude of the hostesses and the kitchen, in addition to the loud, rude table neighbors made our first night’s dinner of Purdue’s family weekend an irritating experience.
Always straight-forward food at a decent price. French Dip was tAsty with an excellent roll and good dipping juice. The Cole slaw was creamy and fresh tasting (thank you) and my server was attentive and friendly. Open Table worked like a charm. Desk staff were earnest, cute and clean. Always an ok place to get in, eat, and drink.
