GrillMarX Steakhouse & Raw Bar Ratings and Reviews
Went for Mother's Day dinner and sat outside. Was excellent as always. Tuna three ways is excellent appetizer, Sangria is very good, The ribs are tender and fall off the bone with just a little zing to the sauce. Lamb chops with onion risotto is awesome. Halibut special was exellent and the service was also excellent. Great upscale place to go
First time eating at this restaurant. I took a chance and it was a great choice. Again, great food but we were celebrating Mother's Day with our 87 year old mother from 2:30pm - 4:30pm and it was very hard to have a conversation with her due to the high noise level from the other families celebrating. Looking forward to going again to see if this normal or just due to the special day.
GrillMarx is one of the local favs! This night them helped out the local school and it sure seemed like a big crowd. Shrimp and cocktails were the starts along with salads. Dinner was chicken, mahi mahi , steak. Always great service and awesome food. They are always helping the area!!!
We choose this restaurant because of the fresh oysters. Once, I ordered crab cakes which I did not think were very good. This time I had the special fish, which was simply cooked rockfish, and it was very good. I also like it that they have baked potatoes which many restaurants don't.
The food was different (they changed the tuna dish - very disappointed). It was fine. The only thing that was LOVED by our group of 5 (2 tunas, ribs, filet, and a bourbon beef tips with pasta) was the ribs. Everything else was fine. Not fantastic... fine. I expect fantastic when the bill is over $200
The food and service is always good. The coffee ribeye rivals Capital Grill, but much more moderately priced. It's loud so children and boisterous banter are not an issue. The bar area is lively. Friends, family, date... you will enjoy good food and a good atmosphere at a fair price.
The food was a little pricey for a neighborhood restaurant but the quality was very good. I would have liked some bread to go with my cocktail but none was available. I had prime rib and it was cooked perfectly and my husband had a strip steak which was very good.
We are so happy we found Grill Marx shortly after they opened several years ago. They have a good selection of food and wine - always prepared perfectly! The wait staff is friendly and efficient. My husband usually orders filet mignon or rib eye cooked rare and he is never disappointed. I love their crab cakes and the grilled artichoke appetizer are awesome.
We generally have a very good experience at GrillMarx, but Friday night the food just wasn't very good. The steaks and some of the seafood had a "burned" taste, even though they were not. (When teenaged boys don't finish their meal, you know something is wrong!). However, the service was excellent, as it always is. Too bad the kitchen was so off its game.
Every time we have been here it's been a very good experience. Service and food have been consistently very good but it's a bit noisy when crowded and it seems it most always is.
Making reservations especially for the weekend make sure and do it several days in advance.
The service and food were good to very good. The noise level had my sister and I almost shouting to be heard. I went away from the restaurant with a splitting headache from the noise. I would say that the acoustics of the room make the noise level much more than energetic.
I would recommend it to someone who does not mind loud ambient noise and shouting at the bar (March Madness had just started). Good steak.
I had been to brunch here previously and enjoyed it, but this time, it was a disappointment. The scrambled eggs were hard and rubbery and dry. The pancakes were so old that they'd gotten really hard and I could not cut through them at all. The bacon was very chewy and difficult to eat. The restaurant had not refilled the fruit, so all that was left were some very sad, smushed blueberries. We went at 12:15pm on Sunday, and the brunch hours lasted until 2pm, so I am not sure why we seemed to be at the tail end of the food, but it just was not that good.
My wife was wuite explicit as to what she wanted, or did not want, namely bacon. Yet her entree was served with with a generous portion of bacon. So it had to gi back and be prepared afain. Meantime my food had arrived and I was finishing just as hers arrived. Thus seems to be a problem as the same occurred on our most previous visit.
Great service from well trained staff, terrific American style menu consistently prepared by a team of skilled kitchen staff. Food really is excellent and served in an "upscale casual" room. Booths are separated from tables which focus on action in the kitchen. Also a large separate dining room for parties of 20-30 or more. Our group enjoyed Saturday "brunch": eggs over easy with sausage and hash browns from real potatoes were fabulous. No rubbery egg whites, no greasy potatoes--such a pleasure. Same for the egg white omelette with spinach and mushrooms--tender, fluffy. One in our party had pasta with steak tips which disappeared before the rest of us were half done--creamy, nicely spiced, a good amount of steak with penne pasta, a two thumbs up. If you haven't been, give it a try. Their regular menu is fantastic, too!
My wife and I go there primarily for the oysters. They always seem very well chilled and fresh. Recently, I ordered crab cakes and didn't think that they were not very good. The last time, we shared a rack of ribs and baked potato, and both were good except that the potato had a large black spot on the bottom which should have been removed by the cook before letting it be served that way.
