Grillfish DC was a busy restaurant with a fun vibe, great food and great service. We made reservations so did not have to wait for a table. We had the buffalo chicken app. Delicious. We also had pistachio crusted mahi mahi and stuffed salmon. Both were very good. Enjoyed the pineapple carrot cake and chocolate cake for dessert.
This was a very enjoyable dining experience.
The food was timely and delicious as always. The waiter was pleasant and service was great. My son and his girlfriend had never been but they loved it and the atmosphere and will definitely come back.
Grill fish was great. We missed a flight and had to spend the night in DC. They were able to get us in even though they were hosting an event. Buffalo shrimp app was our favorite!
One of my favorite seafood spots in DC! Try the ginger calamari!
Service was great; however the sea bass special was a bit underwhelming as it was thinly cut and lacked true flavor. I’ve had better meals at this restaurant.
We were seated immediately. We both had the fish chowder and enjoyed it. The Main course were equally good. I would definitely go back.
The food was really good and worth the price! The service is also good too
Been to DC more than 50 times, was unaware of Grillfish. Found it your Open Table suggestions.
Everything said about it was accurate...price was moderate, good wine selection, varied menu (lots of fish as the name would imply, but also pasta and meat alternatives).
Reservation was honored on time, host gave us a choice of tables, waitress couldn't be more friendly and helpful and handled the special orders perfectly.
Had the fish chowder (Manhattan-esque) which was really good, and the swordfish with sweet onion sauce. Friends also loved their dishes, but I can't remember what they had.
Recommended for a nice casual dinner
Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious! My girlfriend that came with me normally complains, lol, she had ZERO complaints and loved everything both of us ordered.
Food was quite good. All proteins from the sea at our table were tasty. Oysters fine, but not worth the price. A little loud, but an enjoyable atmosphere.
Delicious!! The crab stuffed salmon special was amazing!
Great food and our server (Samsun)was really attentive with our table. We have 2 kids and she did a fantastic job with our requests.
Best fish in DC. Was a little worried after the strip mall outside, but no worries, the service and food were the best in DC
Owner and staff are top tier
The waiter was snobby and rude. The food was just okay.
Great restaurant with lots of seafood options. Their bar has multiple excellent beer and wine selections. The broccolini was one of the best vegetable dishes that I have had in awhile. Would go there again.
We went for a friends' night out. The restaurant was pretty crowded but we'd made a reservation and were seated right away. Service was gracious and responsive but not too intrusive. My friend had the grilled whole lobster which she pronounced delicious and I had the crab cakes which were also delicious (plenty of crab and not too much filling). Would recommend for fresh, good seafood.
Excellent food and service. Their website menu can be a bit confusing, but they have quite a good selection of both fish and non-fish entrees. The kale caesar salad is especially yummy!
Incredible restaurant with the greatest waitress EVER. She was amazing, the food was amazing. Highly highly recommend.
Nice place with very good fish dishes! Average price.
You have to go!
Excellent seafooder, with reasonably priced wines and nice kids menu. Our servers were friendly and highly attentive. Glad we made a reservation because it was packed.
Food was delicious.
good menu; better looking inside than it appears from the street; fish is really good - salmon, char, halibut
Arrived early to meet a friend. Pleased with happy hour drinks and prices. Had mussels (very good!) And flat bread. Place filled up very fast after 5:30. Good food and service
We were trying seafood restaurants and chose this from the list. It was excellent in every way.
The menu is modest but we will return to try other dishes.
The food and portions were really good! Reasonable prices for the quality of food. My party really enjoyed our dinner! The crab cakes were really a hit and the mango key lime pie was too die for we were fighting over the last piece at the end! Loved it!
We had an excellent celebratory dinner for my mother's 70th birthday. We started out at the bar, where we had a drink and some oysters, which were amazing. Dinner was fabulous, too! Though I was not expecting a whole lobster for the lobster pasta, the food was delectable. My only disappointment is that they didn't offer a free dessert or drink for the birthday celebration. It is not a dealbreaker, as I found the food a very reasonable price for some of the best seafood/fish I've found in the greater DMV!
We were visiting from Pittsburgh, for my 50th birthday. Loved the ambience. Food and service were fantastic. Cocktails were fun and tasty! We can’t wait to go back and bring friends!
We had a resevation and were seated quickly by a friendly hostess. The crowd at 7pm was eclectic and the atmosphere, warm. The menu has some interesting twists on seafood - I had the grilled seafood brochette with the unusual pairing of red coconut curry sauce, which was outstanding! The grilled Brussels sprouts were divine and deadly (not for people seeking healthy veggies since the caramelization added lots of sugur. My friend ordered char, which she loved. I liked the glass-and-a-half choice for wines and my chardonnay was a good value. All in all a fine dinner and would definitely recommend to others.
As always, a great dinner - one of our favorite restaurants in DC.
It was a pretty good experience.
Had my first date there last Friday night March 23rd and really enjoyed the entire experience.
We enjoyed two dinners at Grillfish while on vacation in DC. Service was pleasant and helpful but not intrusive. The salmon was delicious!
Extremely fresh and well-prepared seafood menu. My daughter and I shared the mixed grill for two and it was perfectly cooked. My wife ordered a monkfish special that was just a bit oversauced but delicious. My other daughter had linguine with clams in a fra diavolo sauce that was spot on, although the pasta was a tad overcooked. Service was attentive and friendly. My one complaint had to do with an unpleasant "fishy" odor right at the front door, I suspect an outgoing load of garbage may have leaked on the front entry mat.
Everything was amazing
Great seafood in the District. Would definitely recommend.
A fish speciality restaurant serving tried and true standards & fresh daily catches. We ordered three salads, two fish dishes and the lobster special. A nice an reasonably priced wine list designed to compliment the fish focus...both white and reds. Overall healthy offerings, broiled, steamed or grilled, our trout, salmon and lobster were all perfectly prepared. Salads are variations on a theme..."Kale Caesar" (Pardon their pun) and a Apple and pears with greens and pecans. Finally...Cole slaw that was amongst the best restaurant versions that I have eaten. Mains served with linguine and vegetables all extremely well presented. Desserts did not disappoint, but the chocolate cake with hot fudge and ice cream was the coup de grace. Finally, the service was first-rate, timely, informative and efficient. Definitely warrants a return visit, easy access from multiple hotels in the Dupont circle area.
The place was nearly empty, but no one could be bothered to check on us or refill our drinks.
Stumbled across the restaurant whilst visiting Washington: if you like good wine, good choice of fish, friendly staff and good service then this is definitely the place to go.
