A fish speciality restaurant serving tried and true standards & fresh daily catches. We ordered three salads, two fish dishes and the lobster special. A nice an reasonably priced wine list designed to compliment the fish focus...both white and reds. Overall healthy offerings, broiled, steamed or grilled, our trout, salmon and lobster were all perfectly prepared. Salads are variations on a theme..."Kale Caesar" (Pardon their pun) and a Apple and pears with greens and pecans. Finally...Cole slaw that was amongst the best restaurant versions that I have eaten. Mains served with linguine and vegetables all extremely well presented. Desserts did not disappoint, but the chocolate cake with hot fudge and ice cream was the coup de grace. Finally, the service was first-rate, timely, informative and efficient. Definitely warrants a return visit, easy access from multiple hotels in the Dupont circle area.
The food was delicious! Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal. The portions are significant and satisfied even the hungriest in our group! If you enjoy seafood, I recommend Grillfish DC.
Everything fun with top-notch food and excellent service at a good price!
Good heavens. What happened to this place?!
Appetizer and entree menus full of great fish. Sides are fun and delicious.
My friend and I like the ambiance of the Grillfish: even though you're in doors, it has the feel of eating in a Roman piazza. We began by sharing the bacon wrapped scallops appetizer. The scallops were so tender, and the bacon was a perfect contrast to their taste. For my entree, I had the mixed grill: swordfish, salmon, mahi mahi, scallops, shrimp with coconut red curry dipping sauce and a side of roasted beets & sweet potatoes. My friend went with crab cakes. As statisticians, we were impressed when I server told us the cakes contained 1% filler. The crab cakes were served with mashed potatoes. We also had a side of brussel sprouts in maple syrup, spiced pecans & shallots. We finished with the caramel cheesecake brulee. It was all delicious! Mt friend and I are not waiting another 18 months to return.
We had appetizers for dinner and they were very filling and tasty. I recommend the fried oysters.
Excellent steak, steak & cheese egg rolls. Steak cooked perfectly and our excellent server asked me to cut it in front of him to ensure it was perfect. Great service. Coconut creme pie was huge!! Order for at least 2 people, could serve 5-6!
Great food and amazing atmosphere. I was seated timely and given the best service. I’d recommend any of the pasta dishes.
This is a very popular spot in Dupont Circle. I was in town for a business trip, had heard good things about it, and was staying alone at a hotel across the street; so I decided to try it out by myself. The restaurant was jammed; so even with a reservation, there was a wait. But Alfredo--the maître di--kept me entertained! Then the food was worth the wait. The food presentation and flavor were great. Latoya--the waitress--was also attentive and fun. I enjoyed the evening!
Good seafood, nice atmosphere but really too noisy. OK for going with friends but not for business discussions.
Great food and good service. Wide choice of menu and good specials. Would recommend and come again.
Terrific food and excellent service. The setting was idyllic as well. We had the pear salad and the risotto balls - both were amazing. The pecan crusted striped bass was perfectly cooked on a bed of the delicious risotto and spinach. Key lime pie made an excellent dessert!
The food was delicious as always.
A group of us were staying at a nearby hotel for a business meeting and heard Grillfish DC was a good choice for dinner. They were so right! We all immensely enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent! We loved our server, Mary Jane. She was helpful, funny, prompt and attentive. We all look forward to eating at Grillfish DC again upon our return. Highly recommend this place!
Business lunch with a friend. I had the halibut, she had the broccoli/kale salad with salmon. The seafood was cooked to perfection and the rice was very good. Really recommend Grillfish.
Met for lunch with business friend. I was early but was seated with no problem (some irritating restaurants make you wait for your entire party). We wanted to talk for a while but no problem, the server was very accommodating. Food was excellent; we both had the the blue cheese grilled shrimp over pasta and a glass of wine. Interesting note when I ordered a Pinot Noir, our server did NOT recommend the most expensive choice. That's rare these days.
Total cost was very reasonable, will definitely return.
Great server, Slim. Poor wine list and selections...wine tasted opened/old, not vintage old. Food was good.
We were all pleasantly surprised how good our dinners were. Mixed grill with the Brussels sprouts was the table favorite with blackened trout coming up next. The least favorite was the shrimp scampi. Said the shrimp were over cooked. We were meeting friends we hadn’t seen in awhile and was nice not to be rushed out! We will be back!
Absolutely delicious food! Our waiter was knowledgeable about the food and wine and so personable. The only downside for us was that the noise level was so energetic it was hard to reunite with friends by sharing stories because it was a tad difficult to hear each other.
Terrible meal. Food was oppressively salty. Party of three. We all had the same impression.
Service was okay. Ambiance okay. Food almost inedible. Could not taste the fish, just the salt.
Enjoyed the numerous fresh fish entrees - great desserts, great atmosphere, great sides
GrillFish is my favorite restaurant. I am from Philadelphia and I love when I can get to DC. That means a great meal, friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. Fan favorite since 1995
In town for the weekend and was looking for something fun and delicious ....this more than did the job !
We truly enjoyed our dinner at Grillfish. There were 5 of us and everyone loved their meal. We started off with mussels, oysters, and the risotto balls. They were all delicious. My husband loved the mussels. I particularly loved the risotto balls. The entrees chosen included the monkfish, tuna, salmon, mixed grill, and crab cakes. In addition to perfectly prepared seafood, Grillfish does amazing things with their sauces. The crab cakes were the only thing that would not get 5 stars, but that is due to my preference for Maryland style lump crab cakes. However, they were still very tasty and I enjoyed them. The rest of my party couldn't say enough good things about their entrees. We ended our meal by sharing the brownie sundae which was perfect. The only thing better than the food was the service. The host at the door seated us right away with a great table and a friendly welcome. Our server was wonderful and very helpful. All in all, a very nice evening. We will definitely be back!
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Great selection of fish. Husband had the mixed grill and I had the shrimp piccata linguine. Both dishes were prepared as ordered and served quickly. Service was excellent. Very nice ambiance.
Driving from Boston to Nashville and stopped in DC specifically so we could eat dinner at Grillfish. Yes, it's that good. Food, atmosphere and service.
Amazing service (I think my server’s name was Anthony)!! The decor and artwork were incredible. The fish was grilled to perfection. The appetizers were flavorful. The desert was delicious. I can’t wait to come back for more!
The food was good the ambiance is great I will go back again
My date and I had wonderful time at Grillfish. The food was great. The service was efficient.
We went there for Valentine's Day and really enjoyed the lively atmosphere, the responsive service, and the tasty food.
We were there for Valentine’s Day and had a superb experience! My boyfriend is a bit of a fussy eater and he said it was the best meal in recent memory. The service was perfect and the food was delicious and with generous portions. The value was exceptional with the $50/3 course option. We will be back soon!
12tg Anniversary dinner/pre Valentines Day
Very good great location very tasty. Seafood wonderful
Mahi mahi was very fresh.
Really good fish and fried oysters for a decent price. I'd go back.
The most impressive thing about Grillfish was the staff and specifically, the manager. I had requested a quiet table since one of my guests is hard of hearing. When we arrived at the restaurant they sat us in the front (the quietest table in the restaurant) even though our party had shrunk slightly from 4 people to 3 people.
I greatly appreciate that they had actually read and assisted my specific request.
I would recommend this restaurant.
The seafood chowder was unbelievably tasty and rich. Grill salmon Caesar salad was flavorful. Great ambiance, and friendly and accommodating management staff.
Average in just about every way - the best item in my entree was the fried cabbage (delicious). Appetizers were pricey but good. Entree mains were generally OK but nothing to write home about.
We had a 9:30pm reservation on a Sunday evening. Although the restaurant was closing at 10pm we were never rushed. We were greeted with a warm hello and had great service and food. We were celebrating a birthday and a cozy corner table was setup for
Us I will be back soon!
