We are the first restaurant to partner in Washington, D.C. with the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program, ensuring safe and environmentally friendly seafood as part of our cuisine.
Our setting is unmatched and the best casual, neighborhood dining in the West End. The bar is ornately decorated with massive mirrors, large columns and a multitude of glowing candles. These, along with the open kitchen where flames leap from the grill, create a warmth and intimacy in a casual atmosphere.
A $3 per person fee for desserts brought from outside will be applied to the check

They met every request.
we were very pleased with friendly and attentive service and went back again to Grillfish for dinner. The salmon, no butter, no salt was taken care of efficiently.
Lovely place and experience. Went there with my girlfriend for our 5 year anniversary and were offered a free dessert! Food was delicious and service was great, and for an added bonus, they are environmentally conscious.
Our waitress on Saturday evening was very good. My husband ordered the catfish and it was very under cooked. The waitress noticed it when she took our plates away and gave us a free dessert. At least give her credit for trying to make it right.
Very nice restaurant! The food and service was great! We will definitely be returning.
The food was, across the board, very good, but not spectacular. The wine list was complete without creating a tyranny of choices. The table service was sharp and attentive without being overweening (fice starts there). The table was a bit tight for eight, and some attention was needed to avoid minor accidents (success!), but we did want to all sit at one table. Back to service and why it got four starts instead of five: I was surprised that the first to arrive (a few minutes early) were not seated immediately or invited to the bar, but asked to remain at the host desk, given that the table was ready, and at being told by OpenTable afterward that the restaurant had reported my party as a no-show. Some work at the front end of service would be helpful.
Your wine prices seem to have gone up. Some are a bit too high
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and we will review our wine prices.
Enjoyable for family dinner
Thank you for the review.
We made this a regular stop on our recent vacation. Food and Service were always excellent.
Thank you for the review, and I hope we see you again soon.
Awesome Seafood Restaurant. Fantastic Service. Recommended!
I told the staff that this was a birthday celebration and there did nothing special, and they didn’t even let us have a booth, with we asked for specifically. Don’t think we’ll be back.
Thank you for the feedback and taking the time to write this review. We are sorry for your experience.
Our dinner was served very quickly, like a diner looking to turn turn tables. The food was good, definitely not great as others had reviewed/recommended. My oysters were not shucked properly and most of them were damaged. It wasn’t terrible but would not go back with so many other fantastic dining options in DC.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and I am sorry to hear about your oysters.
Great Happy Hour Specials and $1.00 ea. Raw Oysters at the Bar. Everything was Fantastic, including great Prices ! Entree's $35-$40. A Diamond in the D.C. Swamp!
Thank you for the kind words, and I am glad you enjoiyed our Happy Hour Specials. Always join us for our $1 Local Oysters!
When I’m in DC for work I always dine here - since 1999. For many years, now, I get the same meal because it is always perfect. Everyone was friendly, professional, and efficient!
Thank you for the kind words, and looking forward to another great experience for you.
Virtually everything was good, I was coming down with a cold, so it probably was even better than it seemed (at least according to my wife). In any case, everything was very good. We started with the ginger calamari. Then, I had the crab cakes dinner, which was excellent, and my wife had the mussels dinner. I have an aversion to garlic, so several items needed to be modified a bit. I give our server, Tony, my compliments for being very accommodating and patient. We ended with an apple crisp, which was a perfect ending. This was definitely worth the visit and we certainly will be back.
Thank you for the review, and I am glad to hear that Tony made your experience even better. I hope we see you again soon.
A dull ambiance and dull, uninteresting, almost unpleasant mixed fish grill.
Thank you for taking the time to write to us.
Great food and ambiance. Our waitress, Katie, was excellent and very attentive. She recommended the ginger calamari which was a delicious dish. We also ordered the chowder, mixed seafood linguini (with scampi/garlic sauce also), and seared yellowfin tuna. Everything was delicious. We come to DC once a year, and will definitely return next November! Thanks Katie for also making my birthday special!!
Thank you for taking the time to write the review. We look forward to when you come back to DC to provide you another wonderful dining experience.
There were 3 of us. We shared 2 apps - fennel salad and the portobello mushroom. Both were delicious. We each had different entrees. The tuna special, the whole fish special (branzino), salmon. We all totally enjoyed our meals.
No room for dessert.
Thank you for the review, and hopefully you will come back to sample one of our homemade desserts.
Love this place. Visited for the first time and the service was friendly, food delicious. Small menu, but plenty to choose from. Seemed like everyone in the restaurant was having a good time. Will return.
Thank you for the review, and hope to see you again soon.
Our food was delicious and the service was wonderful! It was a great experience!
Thank you for the review.
We tried the Mixed Grill version of the kale salad as well as the butternut squash salad. We were delighted. So delicious I don’t remember us sharing! The seafood was exquisitely pan fried. Slight crust on the outside setting up for a great bite down on tender chunks of succulent fish.
Jason was our Server. Helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. His recommendations perfect. Best part is he got us out in the time we requested since we had a critical meeting nearby.
The espresso, custom made to our request, and window seat rounded out a perfect afternoon lunch.
Thank you for the review, and I am glad to hear that you had a great meal and experience with our server Jason.
Great for birthday celebration.
Delicious food and Great service. I had the whole lobster in linguine and ginger calamari. The French 75 was nicely prepared.
Thank you for the review.
The trout was perfectly cooked and lightly but nicely seasoned.
Friendly staff nice atmosphere .. orders mixed grill a bit overcooked..
Had a large party. Service was decent. I was told the buffalo mac n cheese was good. I got the mixed grill, was okay. Cocktails were good.
Thank you for the review, and glad we were able to accommodate your party.
Not a standout in my opinion. Food was just okay. Service was as expected.
I am such a fan of Grillfish after our visit back on 10/26/2019 I made a reservation for our party and when we arrived, we went straight to seating. The ambiance was cozy, gently lit and soft music playing, open kitchen I'm a sucker for an open kitchen vibe.
I must say I was impressed with the way the manager greeted us and seated us we felt so welcomed and our waitress was Mya and her customer service was AWESOME!! she was informative of the menu items and any off menu item to be offered, I also unlocked a check-in offer for a free Mimosa upon checking in.
Mya took our drink orders and she didn't miss a beat they came quick and correct and we ordered a bottle of Riesling which was phenomenal.
Mya took all of our orders and I decided on the grilled shrimp scampi over linguine, I also had a chance to try the mixed grill seafood entree as well the mixed grill -It came with a good portion of shrimp, scallops, and a few kinds of fish(Swordfish, salmon, mahi mahi) and it was amazing the seafood was very fresh and cooked to perfection and the taste was great the broth was very tasty and there was nothing to complain about with the scampi it was a creamy garlic butter sauce with a lot of flavor and I highly recommend any two of these entrees and to top it off we had some birthday desserts caramel cheesecake brulee and the chocolate fudge cake, and the big winner for me was the caramel cheesecake brulee this was a bunch of deliciousness loved the pecan graham cracker crust and don't get me wrong the chocolate fudge cake was also scrumptious cake was warm and moist but I'm more of a cheesecake fan. All in all Grillfish really exceeded our expectations because the whole family was raving about Grillfish and the amazing service Mya provided to our entire party. The next time I'm in the area I will be there. Thank you for an amazing night, and Grillfish is truly a gem in the West End.
Awesome food and service. Maya was amazing. The good spectacular and the overall experience was great. We will be back.
Thank you for the review, and we hope to see you soon.
Great venue! Excellent service!
Thank you for the review.
Good food, nice menu. Moderate pricing (DC standards). Very loud on busy night.
Thank you for the review.
Good menu,good service
The food and service were outstanding. The noise level made it difficult to talk.
I am sorry to hear about the nocse, but thank you for the review.
A business meeting for 4. We were seated at table in front area of restaurant, pretty noisy/busy. The floor slants there, and it was uncomfortable.
Wine order was a long time coming, some mixup re: bottle vs by the glass
Food was excellent, came all together.
Server was fine, she couldn’t be heard very well over the din, and she talked pretty fast.
I could enjoy Grillfish again, just not for a business meal.
Thank you for the feedback and the review.
Solid seafood restaurant, but did not live up to its high ratings.
My boyfriend and I came to celebrate his birthday and everything was amazing! We had the SEAFOOD FRA DIAVLO SICILIAN with the white wine sauce for two and oh my goodness it was delicious! Our server Maya, was so nice and attentive, and gave us amazing service. Definitely will be coming for brunch soon!
We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for brunch at Grillfish. The restaurant has a good decor and were seated right away (we had a reservation). The restaurant was over 75% full with a few large groups. We were 6 of us in our party. We did get one of those square tables that have the semi-circle leaves open out to form a round table. Nothing against them, but you are always worried of food sliding down on your lap of the leaf comes unhinged!
The service was good and we did get a few minutes to look through the menu. The menu choices were good enough for everyone at the table.
We got the Little Big Fish platter to share. The oysters, clams, shrimp, and crab were good but the lobster was quite chewy for our liking.
The kids got the taco and mac and cheese. The taco was good but the mac and cheese was to die for! Need that as a side for adults :)
We also go Bloody Mary's for a few of us - both versions were good and well made.
For the main course we go the Huevos Rancheros and Crab and Chorizo Hash. Both dishes were good and quite filling!
We were stuffed for the rest of the day. The service towards the end was a bit off tho.
All in all, a good place for seafood and good food in the area!
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am glad we were able to accommodate your group.
Great food! Service from Maya was outstanding. We were a party of 4 and everyone enjoyed their meal!
It’s a great “good enough” sort of place. Won’t blow your socks off but cozy and reliable, the sort of place you feel safe. Who needs more?
Ginger calamari was excellent. Entree of seafood with marinara, a substitute for cream sauce, was out of this world.
