We are the first restaurant to partner in Washington, D.C. with the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program, ensuring safe and environmentally friendly seafood as part of our cuisine. Our setting is unmatched and the best casual, neighborhood dining in the West End. The bar is ornately decorated with massive mirrors, large columns and a multitude of glowing candles. These, along with the open kitchen where flames leap from the grill, create a warmth and intimacy in a casual atmosphere.

The Host was wonderful. However the service was lacking. Since the pandemic the staff seems to all be new, and the service from the manager to the waitress was lacking tremendously.
Grill Fish was a great way to get outdoors in the midst of our current climate. Good food and excellent service highlighted by a great location.
Yes go there cause you’ll be happy about making that choice.
From when we walked in, the service was great. Attentive and welcoming. We had a great time for my husbands birthday.
Outstanding as always.
Kudos to the manager, chef, wait-staff bartender and concierge for consistently producing high quality customer service, food and drinks every time!
Amazing time and great food. Our server Bryan was great!
Food was very good, grilled to perfection. Service was dreadful for a place where fish entrees hover around $29. Once should not have to ask many times for glasses to be refilled (water, iced tea), and then have to look for a server for 5 minutes before asking, and wait another few minutes to get the refill. They could benefit from a bus-person. And they should know better than to remove plates from the table before everyone was done, leaving the slowest eater as the only one with a plate on the table! If they fix these simple things, they could get 4+ stars.
Grillfish has fresh, simply seasoned seafood, making it a perfect destination for me, a seafood lover. The blackened rockfish I ordered was allowed to shine. It wasn’t excessively breaded or overly seasoned. My sister also loved her grilled octopus. It was so soft. I’d recommend ordering the bbq sauce on the side if you like to taste the char on your octopus. We’ll definitely be back for the food. Cocktails were so-so
Excellent Fish and service. People are very nice and friendly.
Entrees and food was really good. Highly recommend the shrimp scampi. Waitress was super friendly and helpful with recommendations.
Great food, great service, great attentiveness by servers and staff. Great drink pours. Expensive so bring $$$$, but worth it!
Positive experience. Would go again. Seafood skewers were cooked perfectly and ginger calamari was delicious.
I was disappointed with my shrimp scampi - it was full of cream sauce. I don't know why chefs nowadays at second-tier restaurants think they have to make everything like it's French or Belgian haute cuisine. It might be Tom Sietsema's influence. lol But this totally ruined a classic ITALIAN dish with a creamy mess so you could hardly taste the garlic. Also, the prices for soft shell crabs were sky-high - at least twice what you would normally expect. Checking Grillfish of my neighborhood restaurant list.
The food was delicious. Our server was attentive. We had a great time!
Good food. Great prices. The staff was extremely friendly.
The food was excellent. Everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned. A hidden gem in the city. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.
Very good food. Highly recommend the shrimp scampi if you like flavorful food. The fish tasted fresh and the server was very friendly.
Everything was excellent
The food is way to overpriced for the limited menu and quality. I will not be returning
My favorite restaurant. The food is delish.
This is a great restaurant for any occasion. Super nice patio. Soft shelled crab (seasonal) were fantastic. I preferred the sautéed one but the fried was also good. Seafood mixEd grill is the other photo, also yummy. Katie provided exceptional service.
Nice selection of fish. Appetizers were excellent. I wish they had a butter sauce to go with their fish.
Unfortunately this was not the birthday experience we had in mind. Simply put, there was nothing that stood out as above average during this first occasion. My $165 would have been better spent elsewhere.
Great seafood and waiter was very helpful in recommendations.
Excellent food! Generous fish portions. Attentive staff.
The service was exceptional. Tony was attentive when needed but also gave us privacy. The special oysters were a pleasant surprise and the seasonal dish of soft shell crab really hit the spot.
Friendly staff, excellent food and atmosphere. Will go again.
The soft shell crab was a weird experience ! Not very tasty. A bit expensive.
First visit for me for dinner, and it was great. Special compliments to our awesome server.
I noted in my request last week it was a birthday dinner but restaurant *didn't confirmed it w/a slice of cake. 🤬🤬👎👎
A+ experience. Accommodated our table preference and gluten allergy with ease! The food is a wow, best fish in DC. And the cocktails weren’t bad either!! Highly recommend.
The entire experience was fantastic! Everyone was so friendly and the food was delicious, will definitely come back again!
Very nice staff and food, wonderful to be back in the dining room
Food was great - well seasoned and full of flavor. Waitress was exceptional. Very. Attentive, pleasant attitude and helpful with suggestions. Highly recommend.
We celebrated our anniversary and could not have been more pleased. The oysters from Rhode Island were superb (we kept the shells), the soft shell crabs could not have been better, and the service was quite professional. We felt as if we were regulars, which we are not. We will be back, however.
When we scouted out Grillfish several days before our dinner, we got to know Ryan at the bar and that is what convinced us, ultimately, that we had made the right choice for our celebratory dinner. He is a real keeper.
Thanks to all for making our anniversary a special one.
Awesome Food and Drink, we went to celebrate a birthday and it was a great night. Fish was spectacular, and we loved our calamari and $1 oysters to start the night. Highly recommend! Also, check out that carrot cake.. Holy Sh*t!!
First-timers with special family member; we loved the diverse, interesting menu choices, good brief wine list, and friendly staff... but the delicious and attractively plated food was the 'cincher'. We'll return next time we're in DC. Oh, we also enjoyed our server (thanks, April!)
We had a table inside, and the atmosphere is intimate. The variety of fish available was great ! Sautéed soft shell crabs were the best I’d ever eaten
I don't understand how this place has good reviews. Ordered three different entree's, that ranged from just ok to crap that must have been reheated in the microwave. Service was non existent, it took entirely to long for Apps, Dinner, and dessert. The place was not crowded only two other couples inside the restaurant and two other couples outside on the patio. No excuse for poor service, poor food. I would never eat here again.
Grillfish has been one of my near-work go to places for years. I enjoy the place so much I’ll bring family and friends on weekends though I don’t live in DC.
Servers are always helpful and particularly during pandemic year(+) I’ve appreciated eating on their patio and feeling comfortable even pre-vaccine.
Also, $1 oysters will always bring me running 🤗
