We had such a great dinner. The food and service was wonderful. We truly had an exceptional experience.
Overall everything was good. My husband and son were both very disappointed that they were out of the steak they wanted. Since the restaurant wasn't that busy on a Saturday night we couldn't understand why they didn't plan well.
Service & food were great. Unfortunately it was so cold at our table that we all had to wear our coats. I realize it was a cold night but I’m going to guess it was in the 50’s in the area of the dining room we were seated in.
Always a very nice meal!
We me friends for a light meal.
What great meals for my wife and I in an absolutely beautiful surroundings. We will be back.
We walked out, sat there for 20 without acknowledgement, then another 15 minutes waiting for our drinks.... it is a shame that this place is so terrible.
If Open Table would have allowed me to rank this place a SOLID ZERO, I would have given it a ZERO
Food was great, view was great but the service was slow. We never got our wine with dinner until 1/2 way done and the manager came over to see if everything was okay. The wine was on the house. Otherwise, the meal was enjoyable and so was the view of the golf course.
Tina was an amazing server. Our favorite place to go.
We enjoyed our lunch very much just as we always do at Hartefeld.
Tyler was an outstanding server!
Very beautiful place. We will go back..decided to go out for dinner for a birthday. An we were extremely impressed because we thought it was going to be pub type food....very impressed with the food. This will be one of our go to places.
Food quality and selection is excellent. Daily specials are always very tasty. Service was very good.
Sad upon arrival to learn that they no longer offered the buffet brunch. Guess I should've checked online before I made reservations!
A great overall experience. The food specials were amazing and the customer service was among the best I have ever had. Will definitely return there when the opportunity presents itself.
A VALENTINE'S DAY TREAT: In the morning of Valentine's Day I asked my wife out to dinner. Easier said than done! After a few "We are all booked" calls, the "Grille & Pub at the Hartefeld Golf Club flashed in my brain. Whew! They were able to accommodate the two of us at 7:30 pm. We arrived twenty minutes early, but were promptly seated. Staff could not be nicer. "Tina" Our server " was very polite and did not miss anything. Mrs. had Filet Mignon with the "House Salad" and Anti Fusco (paired wine). Mr. had the Lobster Bisque, Seared Scallops and a "House Salad". Mrs. had the White Chocolate Mousse, Mr. the Strawberry Chocolate Mousse. To say the least a very favorable impression for a "last minute" Valentine's Day meal. A finer dinner could not be had!
The food was wonderful at Hartefeld and our waiter was excellent. BUT it was under construction and the dining room was not available, only the reception lobby which had very high pub tables and high stools which were most uncomfortable. (Another banquet room was being used for a private party.) I had used Open Table to make the reservation on Monday of that week. I was not informed about the construction by emailing me or calling me. When we got to the restaurant, we were very surprised about the condition of the place! I thought that maybe it just was that one section of the restaurant under construction. But no! I told the hostess (the girl at the reservation desk) my name and said we have reservations. She looked and stated that she did not have my name. I told her that I made the reservations through Open Table. Then she said, "Oh, our computer has been down and is not working." I said back to her, "It has not been working since Monday? This is Friday night!" Needless to say the evening did not start off to well. the only space they had was in the section lobby with the high tables. I was very disappointed. Even though the tables were high and very uncomfortable for 2 of us with bad backs, we decided to stay. thank goodness the food was wonderful if the surroundings were definitely not. I believe that a restaurant should let people AND Open Table know if they are under construction and space will be limited until the improvements are done. This information can be put on the website; I checked and it did not state it at all. It was extremely disappointing to fine it out after we got there. They have the email addresses and/or phone numbers to call or text that information if it is not stated ion the website.
Four us went for New Years Eve and we had a great time.
The food was excellent and then we went into the bar to bring 2017 in.
We go to this place often and always enjoy.
This restaurant is best for happy hours. The service and food is mediocre. The staff is often confused and clearly not trained well.
We had originally booked a party for 10. We had to add 6 more, the manager was more than accommodating stating it was not a problem. Service was great, food excellent, fun for all.
Booked this on the fly looking for something after the Longwood Holiday Light show. We were looking more for a bar and burger joint, and were surprised to find out that it's a Golf Club Restaurant/Bar. It's in a residential area (didn't see the golf course in the dark) and kind of hard to figure out how to get in, after dark - plus there weren't many cars in the parking lot - we almost left thinking we were at the wrong place or that it was closed! Glad we stayed for a solid meal of appetizers and main courses. The service was great, not a lot of people at this time of day (6:30pm), but it started to pick up when we were leaving. Nice area to sit near a fireplace, or you can sit in the main room which I suspect has a great view of the golf course. The bar looked like a great place to hang out and eat and drink too.
Great place for any occasion. Superb food and service by Roger
I wish I could write a better review, since Hartefeld is close by and has a lot of potential due to the location and view, but the last visit was one of the worst we have had. The hostess informed us that there were no tables available outside even though there were 2 open during our entire meal (in the lower deck). Service was slow, we weren't greeted for at least 10 minutes before we were seated. Meals were ok, but not exceptional for the price. Cocktails have been the same for the last 6 months (we have been there several times in this time period), and not impressive. Loch Nairn has much better service without the attitude and food/cocktails are great. The diners on both sides of us complained about the meal and service to the manager, so I we weren't alone.
We started with mushroom soup. It was very rich AND VERY DELICIOUS!!! Our server was attentive. We chose a seat outside and enjoyed the evening overlooking the golf course and watching deer in the distance.
The reason we came was for the Sunday brunch buffet that we knew and loved from past years. It is apparently discontinued so it was just an ala cart breakfast. It was well prepared.
Food was excellent and not the run of the mill. I like everything about the facility except I need handicap parking and can only visit when someone can drive me. Our waitress was very pleasant and capable. Loved it.
When I looked online at the brunch menu, no where did it indicate there was a special menu for Father's Day brunch. I assumed we would be getting the regular Sunday brunch. That was not the case and it was the worst food I have ever eaten! First of all, it was a very hot day and the food was served outside on the patio. I was afraid we were eating tainted food due to the heat and I couldn't see where they put anything on ice (e.g., deviled eggs were definitely not). The menu was some cowboy western meal with brisket and baked beans, not the carving station as I assumed. The brisket was fatty and tough and honestly, the only thing I ate was the salad, which was chopped romaine lettuce. The desserts were melty and gross looking due to them also sitting out in the heat. I will never eat here again nor will I recommend it to anyone. I wasted $96 and my husband's special day was less than memorable.
Used to be a regular for brunch on Sundays, was first time back in awhile. Sad to see Sunday brunch was no longer offered.
We had dinner last night (family of 4) and the food and service were great! The mushroom soup was delicious and I can see why the meatloaf is a member favorite. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive! I would highly recommend this place!
Met friends for dinner on a Sunday night. Not much of a crowd. Our server was friendly enough, but he got more things wrong than right. He skipped a soup appetizer order, got an entree wrong, and took forever to notice our bottle of wine was killed. He apologized several times, but never offered to do anything to help make it right. Food was good as usual, but the poor service was quite a disappointment.
Bus staff was overzealous and was confusing the efforts of our more than competent waitress.
We went in for Valentines Day "Brunch" the web site and the calendar both stated you could have the option of an all you can eat brunch buffet OR a selection via ala cart menu. We have been to the brunch buffet in the past and cancelled another reservation at another restaurant when an opening happened here. With that being said there was no option for the all you can eat brunch buffet and the ala cart selections were minimal at best . An egg bacon cheese sandwich on a le bus roll was over $9 - ridiculous. We were very disappointed that the expectations were not met and no apology was given.. when I asked the server why no buffet , he stated that " they were not offering that today" -- really ??? The only reason I give 1 star is because the bartender was very good and very attentive. Either fire your marketing person or correct your website prior to accepting reservations. To be fair we have been here at least 10 times in the past 2 years and have never had issue like this before ... Feel free to contact me directly if you want or need more input.
We enjoyed our dinner At Hartefeld. The food was very good, the service was excellent and it has a nice atmosphere. Don't miss the mushroom soup as is was outstanding, Will definately return.
Good restaurant, welcoming and nice staff. We ordered the nachos and a salad for two people to share which were great but portions were gigantic. Felt like I wasted money when I could have just ordered one or the other. We didn't finish either. Of course pleased with "good value" but a warning from the staff that the portions were so large would have been greatly appreciated. Prosecco was also flat.
We tried out the Grille & Pub at Hartefeld National since we had a $25 Restaurant.com gift certificate, and we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent (Chicken Parm Alfredo and Mixed Grille), and the Cream of Mushroom Soup was great, using local ingredients. The wait staff were attentive without being obtrusive, and the party at the next table asked their waiter to take some group photos, which he was happy to do.
The prices were in line for a restaurant of this caliber, and the overall experience was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion, or when you just want to give yourself a treat!
We go to Hartefeld every couple of weeks. This visit was not a good visit. Our server was slow, did not bring requested items until the second or third request, we had to request water refills from other servers, and someone else actually brought us our final bill and too payment for it while the server messed around at the computer screen. The food was OK, but not up to its normal level.
We know that everyone and every place has off days. I just hope I'm not around for another one anytime soon.
We ate on the patio on a lovely late summer evening. We arrived about 5:45 and were seated promptly. The service was attentive, but not pushy, on the front end of our meal. As more and more tables were seated, the service level dropped off a bit. Not the waitress's fault - she was covering tables both inside and outside. They may need to have a few more wait staff, especially on a Saturday night. It took a while to have her come over and ask if we wanted anything after our meal. After desert, it took another bit of a while before we got the check.
Overall, the food was good - though the broccoli accompanying my pork loin was a bit overcooked - not mushy, but not snappy either. The starter salads were a bit on the small side and had a lot of onions. The prime rib was delicious. The coffee was good, as was the white chocolate cheesecake that we shared.
We selected Hartefeld for dinner after dropping it from our restaurant list for a few years. The food and the service had become unpredictable. This time, the food was good and our waiter, who was actually in training, did a beautiful job attending to us. Hartefeld is located close to home and used to be our "go to" place at the end of a long day when no one wanted to cook dinner. We are glad to say this restaurant can be placed back into the rotation after this recent experience.
This was my first time. Service was prompt and the atmosphere was relaxing. The food was delicious. The view was lovely and the pacing of the meal was good. Prices were reasonable and overall, it was an enjoyable experience. I will return.
We met another couple for dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy and perhaps understaffed. Our server was a novice and I am sure he tried, but service was slow and he made a few mistakes. The food was okay. We have been hear many times and will return but not on a Saturday.
