Grille 66 & Bar Ratings and Reviews
It was a birthday dinner for my spouse, and requested a table overlooking the water. When I arrived, the hostess was a bit rude and unconcern, and placed us at a table closer to the inner part of the dining room. I returned to the hostess desk and she referred me to the manager on duty.
We were seated outside on the terrace where it was cold and uncomfortable. We placed our order at 7:50 PM, but was not served until after 9PM.
The food was great but service horrible.
Sat right on top of the open door in the back. Totally uncomfortable the entire time. I asked not to sit in that area.Requested on the upper level. We arrived on time and from that point I was uncomfortable with the door opening and closing.
My bone in was tough orders mid rare
Very disappointed after 15 yrs coming to your restaurant and recommending others. It now leads me to other options.
We have been there before and overall we had a very good experience. My wife and i said we would return. The following week, my wife went back with 2 friends and had Bill as there server. He was not attentive to there needs after initial contact, never returned to the table to inquire about anything else until they asked someone to place there order. The food came out and was mixed up at the table. My wife was not happy with this experience and had told her friends how wonderful the restaurant is after our first time there. Her friends were not impressed at all.
A restaurant must be good ALL the time. Service is key. Re-training might be in order here.
Bottom line: Dress warm. Bring a blow horn and don’t come hungry.
Seated 30 min late. Restaurant is so loud you can barely hear each other. Froze to death. Asked 3x to adjust the AC. Wear a down jacket and scarf if you dare go.
Took 15 min just to get the menu another 15 to order drinks. Then Took 20 min more to get the wine which the waiter poured like a drunkin' sailor. Sad to see good expensive wine slop onto a nice white table cloth. Another 40 min go by and finally appetizers arrive. They forgot my husbands appetizer but no waiter came by to tell. Another hour goes by. We got up and paid for what we had and left. ( about $300!)
We weren’t the only ones complaining. The table next to us had overdone steaks. They looked cold and irritated. Another table waited 30 min for the bill.
We did speak to the manager but had to wait behind someone else who was also complaining about the service and the meal!!
The Manager did not offer us a refund or credit. Just excuses.
As a side note we have been to the restaurant before about 2 years ago and forgot the service then was also amateurish, food only decent and the restaurant extremely loud.
We should have known better. This was a dinner we will never forget!
What a wonderful experience. Beautiful location on the waterway- watching the boats almost as good as the food. Our server was Bill- he was excellent!! We will be back. Very friendly to my small child too. I appreciate that!
We went for a business holiday celebration. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The menu is comprised of classic American fare, well prepared. Our party consisted of meat eaters, vegetarians and pescatarians. All were happy. They allow corkage as long as it is not on their wine list. The ambience is worthy of a special occasion.
Our dinner on Christmas Eve was one of the worst dinners we ever had. We sat outside 14 inches away from a table with a drunken dysfunctional family. The adult son was drunk and jumping up and down in and out of his seat and blaring obscene language while waffling back and forth from crying to yelling. The mother finally left her son and what apparently was her third husband while the son berated him and screamed about being sexually assaulted and his brother committing suicide, while the waiter brought him more drinks and what appeared to be shots.
We asked our waiter if we could move or if the party could be removed for their inappropriate behavior. We received a chuckle and shrug as nothing could be done to rectified and deescalate the situation.
Finally we saw an open table and moved ourselves to a dirty table without permission just to order dessert and finish our dinner. Our waiter did not even offer to clean the dirty table so we could enjoy what was left of our wine and dessert. Additionally one of the steak entrees was incorrect. They errored and brought us the bigger portion. They then had the audacity to charge us for their error.
Not once did a manager come by to help the situation or apologize for our awful experience. If it were any other night than Christmas Eve we would have left and found another restaurant.
Not sure we will ever be back!
Very nice experience. We were treated cheerfully and professionally by all staff. Chose a table outside on a beautiful night with a great waiter. Everything about our experience was excellent. It's expensive but for a special occasion worth it
I am not one to write reviews but would suggest to stay well away from this restaurant. Both the host and hostess were incredibly rude, shockingly so, especially considering I have been to all the top places in Europe and never experienced such awful behavior. We went on Thanksgiving evening, with a reservation. As we were from out of town, we could not find the building so were 10 minutes late, when we got to the restaurant, were told we had to wait as our table was given away. We are a family with young children so the rudeness coupled with the reality of waiting made it clear we had no choice but to leave. Happily, I was able to call Steak 954, they held a table for us and we had a splendid evening, wonderful food, staff and service! SKIP GRILLE 66 AND MAKE YOUR WAY TO STEAK 954!
Food was excellent. Signature chopped salad was fresh and crisp and the dressing was superb. We had ny strip and double chicken breast entrees. Both cooked exactly right. Steak was tender and juicy. Chicken skin was incredibly flavorful. Sides we enjoyed were a HUGE baked potato, 1/2 order of creamed spinach and a basmati with peppers All cooked correctly and all tasty. And they comp’d us a chocolate mousse cake for our anniversary.
Service was perfect; timely with follow ups without being intrusive. A real winning dining experience.
Arrived a few minutes late due to the bridge opening and were offered an indoor table immediately. We asked to see if there were any outdoor tables available and we’re told it would be just a few minutes and to wait in the bar. After about 15 minutes we were taken to a table near the outside door although the next table was empty the entire evening. The waiter Jake was very attentive through out the dinner. The food: sea bass/prime ribeye, NY strip and Shrimp was excellent everyone said. Desserts: choc cake, sorbet/homemade ice cream and creme brûlée also we’re super! Be forewarned if you order a side they are huge and can serve 4 people. We will be back to again sit outside as the inside was very loud but outdoors had a great view of the inter coastal and boats!
