Grille 401 Ratings and Reviews
First time here. Reviews on line were mixed, but we enjoyed the place. Just came for drinks and some appetizers so didn't eat a full meal. Appetizers were good, calamari with a twist, grilled artichokes, and a couple of rolls.
Our server was very good. I wasn't impressed with the wine selection, very limited. Music was a bit too loud as others have complained.
Would we return? Maybe. I would consider trying some of the dinner entrees, but there is a lot of competition in the area so most likely not.
On the weekend they have a live LOUD DJ (did I mention loud?) If you’re looking for nightlife while dining, this is the place. If you’re wanting a romantic date night and actually have a conversation, this is NOT the place to go on a Friday or Saturday night.
We had come to the restaurant two nights before and were really impressed. We convinced our very picky friend to join us. We had a reservation but the table that we needed was not being vacated by the previous customers. The manager, Chris, handled things so well. We were seated about 35 minutes late, but he offered a few appetizers. The meal was fantastic. The service was amazing. The whole experience was outstanding. We will definitely return.
We enjoyed Grille 401. As a group of 5 were taken quickly to our seats - no wait! on a Saturday night which was impressive. We would recommend the chicken BBQ flatbread. We enjoyed two specials- strip steak encrusted with bleu cheese and the chilean sea bass. The salads were good too with fresh kale and a light dressing. They have nice options for beer and wine- plenty to choose from. Overall this was a nice restaurant.
We have dined there many times, unfortunately this will have been our last visit. It seemed like the food quality has gone down but beyond that the ambiance was terrible for dining with friends. In my opinion there is nothing pleasant with sitting for dinner when the bass from the dj is vibrating your seat not to mention the noise level. Very uncomfortable. The service was non existent. They took our order and checked in once. We wanted to order some wine but the server never came back. If you like loud music, marginal food this place is for you. There are too many great restaurants in town to settle for this one.
I took my parents here for dinner before a show at the Au-Rene Theater. The waiter Olivier was very attentive. We looked through the menu, and Olivier went through the specials for the night. I had a good idea from skimming through the menu what the overall price range was. My parents and I went ahead and ordered two of the entree specials they were offering; the New York strip and the sea bass. The food was good, steak was cooked right but little chewy (ordered medium rare) and nothing exceptional.
When we asked for the check, to my surprise, the specials were much higher priced than their most expensive item on the menu (the filet mignon). I’ve never seen a basic New York strip special at a price higher than the best the cut of the meat on the menu, and it really wasn’t that great.
Place should revisit their prices on some of their items and also make sure the waiters and waitresses share the price tag on the specials with customers when going through the list (this is standard practice at many fine dining places). Right now, based on the menu, it is very misleading.
Also, based on quality of the specials, I would recommend skipping and going with something from the menu. I can’t speak for their other items on the menu, but based on the way their “specials” came out, I will likely skip over this place in the future.
This restaurant has become very disappointing. The menu is uninteresting and the food is only fair. The menu is the same for lunch and dinner, so appears to be a better choice for lunch, as it is heavy on salads and sandwiches. We used to enjoy dining here, but we shall not be returning for a long while.
Grille 401 has interesting and enticing food for your dining pleasure. We had the grilled artichokes which are amazing. I had the tuna tower appetizer which is an abundant serving of sushi tuna with avocado and crispy noodles in a wonderful ponzu sauce. Service is great. The only suggestion for management to improve, is to get better rolls or bread. The Grandma buns are not congruent with the delicious food and presentation. Maybe some delicious sour dough rolls, or crispy crackers.
I came with a group of 6 people and had awesome time.... the food was very high quality .... creative and fun drinks... music was present, but not obtrusive, our waiter Heath was so amazing and fun and informative....we wanted him to come home with us. My third time at the restaurant... service is always top notch...we had a disabled friend with us and they made it work. We will be back.... awesome place.i ordered something pricey... but it was delicious and worth it.
SARAH, our server was excellent! Seek her out. Also, the hostess was very sweet and attentive. Outstanding layout of bars and seating arrangements. However, food was kind of average. The Key Lime Chicken was a bit dry and the sauce was dried up. A little quality control could make a lot of difference.
