Grille 29 Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit but it won't be our last. Excellent service and excellent food. We are new to the area and have tried similar restaurants. However, this has been the best meal and service we have had since our move. My husband had the Grouper with the grits and I had the pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes. He loved the grits. The Grouper was good but nothing exceptional. The pork chop with chutney was excellent. The garlic mashed needed more garlic. The souffle desert was amazing. When I made the reservation I included we were celebrating his birthday. When we were seated a birthday card was waiting for him. No complaints we will be back.
The server, Devin, was excellent. He knew the menu backwards and forwards. He was prompt, efficient, and got every detail exactly right. The main entrees were all excellent. I had the filet, Others at the table had the strip, the grouper, and the scallops. The problem was with the sides. The selection was somewhat limited consisting of garlic mashed potatoes, succotash, fries, sauteed onions, rice pilaf, and grits. The fries were good enough, however, a baked potato would have been better. The rice pilaf was below average. Dollar for dollar Connor's is much better.
Had a very personable experience. Showed up early for our reservation on purpose to have a cocktail at the bar and told the hostess. After the cocktail, we stood up from the bar and the hostess was keeping an eye on us and met us with menus and took us straight to our table. Had a young attentive waiter named Alex that put up with our long ramblings on wine, food, and life. Food was excellently prepared and presented. Only recommendation would be just a couple more entre choices on the menu.
We enjoyed our meal very much. They were out of the grouper which was highlighted on the menu. That was disappointing. The staff was friendly and courteous. Food arrived quickly. We sat outside and were seated immediately. My steak was a little undercooked. Medium was probably more medium rare. Not a big deal because it tasted very good. Coctails were too expensive. Only complaint. 14$ for a lowball coctail to me is pricey. We bought a giftcard combo from costco and saved 20%. Overall a nice place to eat.
Anniversary dinner with wife. She loved her filet mignon and my New York strip was excellent as well. Service (Kathleen K) was exceptional and we were pleasantly surprised to receive an anniversary card from the staff along with a $10 coupon from the manager. What a nice touch to a wonderful evening.
Excellent, as usual. Never been here that the food, service and atmosphere were not top notch. Our filets were tender and juicy with outstanding flavor, and cooked to perfection. Our server, Lionel, was attentive, friendly and made us feel at home. Can't wait to return for another delightful evening.
Excellent service as always! My husband and I dined here for our anniversary and the restaurant gave us a complimentary gift certificate celebrating the anniversary of the restaurant with a card signed by the staff. The cured meat and cheese board was excellent and the filet was the best we've had in a while. It was a beautiful rainy day and the ambience was perfect.
The server was just going through the motions; she didn’t even offer us the specials. Our food was mediocre. Our dessert was incredibly bland; we ordered the chocolate cake because we only saw one kind of creme brûlée (there used to be a trio.) This experience was exceptionally lackluster, especially to have driven 30 minutes to meet friends for dinner. Not sure what happened to the previously exceptional experiences, but it wasn’t even crowded on a Saturday night.
The ambience in the extended room is poor, feels like you are sitting in a cheap restaurant. The food quality used to be great, but the last few times it has been average to above average. This makes the food seriously overpriced, especially the steaks which have been roughly the quality of a mid level steak place.
The waiter on our last visit forgot several things like bringing bread plates, telling us the specials, refilling drinks. They make a fantastic Old Fashioned!
We frequently dine at Grille 29 and this time it was for my wife's birthday. As usual, the food was well prepared and was delicious. The service was impeccable. Our waiter, Darrell, was the consummate professional and I would highly recommend him to anyone dining there.
In a word, our dining experience was TERRIBLE! My steak was cold, my wife's was over cooked. My steak had a funny taste to it and it was the smallest steak I've ever been served. One of he shrimp was raw. I've had better mashed potatoes from a box. The green beans were cold, too. Dirty plates sat on our table the whole meal. Our waiter was hardly there. He could not get the right food to the right diner. The manager just stood around talking to the staff.
You ruined our anniversary!
This was our 50th wedding anniversary and certainly was not disappointed with our meal. To make the evening a bit more special a surprise $10 gift certificate was provided to us. Will always return to Grill 29 for special occasions or a great lunch getaway.
We went for our 29th wedding anniversary. The food was just not good. I had the beef short rib and it was cold. They took it back and still not warm. Third time was finally warm enough to eat, even then nothing outstanding. My wifes grouper dish came with rice. If was so dried out it was crunchy and hard. They took it back and said they had made som fresh rice. Overall she said it was good but nothing special. They offered us 2 free desserts but we declined, we were just ready to get out of there. They did end up taking my meal off the check since it took 3 time to get it warm enough. This is an expensive restaurant and based on our experience, not worth it!
Enjoyed a fabulous dinner of cocktails (best old fashion in town), seared ahi tuna, side Caesar salad, 8oz fillet with oscar upgrade (super good value for what you get), wine, and take home cheesecake. We were very impressed with the flavor of their garlic mashed potatoes and how well everything was prepared. The staff was super attentive and made the overall experience very enjoyable without ever feeling rushed.
Food was accurate.
Ordered items from the brunch menu.
They were OK. But I guess we expected more.
Service was not as good..mirmosa was just orange juice and warm. But on sale for 3$. Never again..
Then we ordered Prosecco and we got Moscato wine.
Service was very slow and obvious the server did not know the menu or the drinks..
They made it right for us in the end.
But overall we had high expectations I guess.
Maybe we need to try dinner versus Sunday brunch..
