Grill on King
This is our 2nd visit as we go to NOTL every year. The food and service is fantastic. Jimmy our waiter was excellent and very funny We will be back later this season and again next year. Highly recommend the shrimp risotto. Cheers
Outstanding experience and inspiring food. Don’t miss if you are in the Niagara region.
We were sat as soon as we arrived on a busy Saturday night per our reservation. Table of six, all dishes were perfect, with compliments to the chef for the liver, crab cakes and steak all done to perfection. We travel from the states and always eat here. Restaurant was full, noise level was good and our server was attentive. We had one guest that requested a special meal and changed sides-all done with no issues. We will continue to eat here every visit. Entire restuarant was clean, staff friendly and curtious. Best meal and ambiance in NOTL!
Dined on a quiet Wednesday. 1st in that evening. Waiter was attentive but put in wrong order. Not discovered till they came out so only one was served. Comped 1 glass of wine since had to wait 15 minutes for correct meal
Excellent table-side service...Jim & Renée were attentive, professional, responsive. Small portions were disappointing vs. cost.
The only reason I didn't award full marks is because there was a large loud party (with children and babies) beside us who treated the restaurant as a private space, even going so far as to make speeches of a personal nature... like you would hear at a wedding. The restaurant should not have allowed this. Otherwise, the food and service were excellent.
Great place to dine before theatre! Very helpful and friendly staff, warm and enthusiastic.
Service was prompt, and excellent advice regarding dinner and wine selection. Highly recommended!
Great location before attending a play.
The restaurant was actually closed for what appeared to be a holiday break. The auto reservation system should have not been on. My husband and I had to find another spot to eat at the last minute.
Grilled octopus was outstanding. Burgers were very good. Quiet lunch on a quiet day.
We went on a very quiet January evening. The food was excellent and the service exceptional. The three of us have different tastes but we all found items on the menu that suited us.
The restaurant was closed. Why does open table allow me to make a reservation to a closed restaurant!! There was no sheriffs notice on the door, or note of a family emergency just a shuttered restaurant.
Upon our arrival with our party of 6 the restaurant was CLOSED. Even after a confirmation was sent for our reservation. Very frustrating.
The food and service was great. Very cozy and quiet. The waitress was very knowledgeable and they were more than accommodating to our dietary needs.
I highly recommend Grill on King for any occasion. In our case, we had dinner before doing a carriage ride and wedding proposal.
The location is right in the middle of all the shops, bars and tourist attractions.
We will return again.
Went for dinner on New Year’s Eve and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Our experience was amazing! Would highly recommend!!!
Great place to meet friends for a meal. Staff was very friendly and accomidating. Food was phenomenal with a few very tasty vegetarian options. Nice selection of beer on tap!
Wonderful food and wonderful service!
This is a very nice restaurant with very good food in a great location. It also has parking behind the restaurant. Unfortunately, the night that we were there, it was not very crowded, so that takes away from the ambience. However the service was exemplary and our table liked the smoked salmon platter, the steak, the orange roughy, and the spanakopita appetizer.
Amazing food and service. We will definitely be back.
After looking at every restaurant in town (we are 2 hours away and coming as a mini honeymoon getaway), we decided we wanted to go to the Grill on King. Our reservation was accepted but when we showed up, the restaurant was closed. We called, but no one answered. I left a voicemail and no one returned it. Needless to say, it was a terrible experience and they come off looking very unprofessional. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
Great food and great specials
Service was exceptional and the food was lovely.
Ambiance good be better
Candles on the table would be nice
Table linens also would be a nice touch
Not too difficult to do
As prices are a bit high
Steaks were the best we have had perfect medium rare
However my garlic mashed potatoes were a bit cold
Have not received our points.
We are in NOTL 2-3 times per year, but this was our 1st visit to Grill on King. We had an early dinner, so were ahead of the crowd.
The ambiance is relaxing and beautiful. Our server was very attentive, and the food was delicious!
We will be back!
An outstanding dinner experience at The Grill on King Restaurant. We were seated inside with a lovely window view. Service was impeccable, lovely food presentation, and each course was absolutely delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed Crab Cakes topped with Curry Sabayon, Oven-baked Chicken Supreme with Roasted Forest Mushrooms, and the Caramel Cream Crunch dessert. Congratulations to a truly talented chef!
ONLY PROBLEM IS TOO MANY WINE FLIES AND OTHER FLIES. FOOD AND SERVICE ARE VERY GOOD
Great atmosphere out on the patio. Food was pretty good. Waiter was attentive but service very slow. Needed more staff servicing the patio. Waited an hour for our meal.
It was good although for the price point the food could have been better. I had the special (Rose linguini with calamari and shrimp - it was way over sauced and the calamari did not taste fresh) my husband had the carbonara pasta and it was also way over sauced) the bruschetta was good. It is overpriced for the quality of food.
Tasty food..came out really quickly. Overall lovely lunch.
Our party of 4 all had good meals. The service was fairly good, but the wine we ordered could have been delivered sooner. Also, the carrots were under cooked. But other than those few things, we enjoyed it very much. I had the yellowfin tuna which was delicious and very rare, as ordered. The rice pilaf was also very tasty.
It was great. Bridal shower tables were very noisy. Service was good
My husband’s pasta was delicious and the portion was hearty. My spinach salad with shrimp was disappointingly over dressed. I should have asked for the dressing on the side. Our waitress was delightful, the staff friendly and accommodating.
Everything very good except the salmon which (after requesting to be sure to not overcook it), was overcooked.
No AC in the restaurant just fans. Server messed up my order but she had it corrected. The food was wonderful.
Always enjoy our meal and the convenience of the location near Queen and King.
Very happy to recommend the Grill on King Street despite airconwas not very good and they wouldn’t substitute a salad for vegetables and potatoes, even with a surcharge which I would have been happy to pay. The food was delicious and well presented too. Very nice.
We arrived for our reservation right on time, but they had no tables inside for us. We were seated on the patio right beside the entrance, at a very high traffic and undesirable table.
Our waiter didn't introduce himself. Or say hello. Nor did he tell us the feature menu items (we overheard them at the end of our meal).
We ordered: a bottle of bubbly, bruschetta, saganaki, chicken supreme, tagliatelle carbonara, calamari and rack of lamb. The lamb and calamari were cooked perfectly. The lamb portion was truly a full rack, and generously sized. The pasta was also a very generous portion. The chicken was a tad smaller than expected, but delicious. We said yes to freshly ground pepper... But it never came. Our water glasses were never refilled, yet the table beside us was refilled twice. Our bubbly glasses were never topped up (we refilled them ourselves).
We were not offered dessert or coffee. A shame, since we were celebrating.
When the bills came i asked if they were understaffed, hoping for an apology. He became immediately indignant. I mentioned we were a little disappointed, and before I said much more he said "fine, don't tip me" and barreled off into the restaurant. To be clear, we had no intention of not tipping... And no intention of escalating to a manager.
The manager came out to settle our bills. She did not ask us what led to the situation as to why our waiter couldn't process our bills. We spoke up and shared our experience. She said "well I don't know what happened, I will speak with him". It felt very dismissive.
These all added up to is feeling like we were not wanted there, and detracted from our celebratory evening.
Overall, the food was decent. But the service (from hostess to server to manager) was atrocious. I would discourage anyone from eating there. Eat anywhere else. If you are up for splurging, try Treadwell. Ravine vineyard has a fantastic restaurant with great wine.
Wherever you go, just don't go to Grill on King.
The soup of the day was delicious as well as all our meal. A little disappointed that the menu on open table was somewhat different than actual menu as we went in wanting a specific entree that wasn’t available.
Right from arrival pleasant friendly welcome, attentive service, food outstanding ( burgers and prime rib sandwich). We sat on patio and enjoyed a beautiful view as well. In fact after lunch we took a horse a carriage ride from directly across the street.
A memorable time thanks!
