Grill on King
Went with family on a Tuesday evening. Service was excellent. Food was very, very good and brought quickly. Cheesecake was spectacular! Decor is clean and modern. Staff was friendly.
Will be making this a regular stop anytime in Niagara area. Highly recommended.
Food was good, but the waitress seemed to be having a bad day. Young hostess stood there leaning on her podium, no offer to help wait staff. Sad to see when they probably share their tips with her.
Service was awful. Waitress never asked if we wanted a drink other than what type of water . We were basically ignored once she asked where we were from and it was the NYC area.
The food was not great. Sole was over cooked and hollandaise sauce was too thick. Seafood cake was not good . My husbands salmon was ok, but not great. This could be a great place, but our experience was disappointing.
Good food efficient service
We had to wait for awhile for our table.
The hostess was very sweet about it though. The evening was nice enough to sit outside on the patio, something I requested when making the reservation.
We enjoyed sitting at the bar and waiting for our table as the bartender was extremely personable.
Our server was good even though she was very busy with other tables.
Food was all very tasty.
Overall we would definitely go back and the location of this restaurant was good.
We have been there a few times in the past and always enjoyed our meal. We decided to go back and it was very nice but the server was having an off day! She never read us the specials, oh wait the table next to us was told very abruptly when they asked "WE DON'T HAVE SPECIALS, WE HAVE FEATURES!!" I think they were shocked and so were we. I asked if you had a certain drink I like and I was told "NO!!" with no follow up. By the way I would have loved to order the Tuna Special, I mean Feature.
We were never asked if we wanted coffee or desert, she just dropped the check on the table. The Food was very good and we sat outside and it was a beautiful evening. We were in no hurry and would like to have a second drink and relax. Also we were staying at the Harbor House for two nights and I know your connected.
It was our Anniversary Weekend and we would go back but ask for a different Server.
Dunes on aug 8/19 & seated on patio. Which had 2 servers each serving their side. Well the lady waitress on our side was WAY slower at taking our order. Never asked if we wanted wine. Never told us the specials (would’ve changed what we ordered - heard from next table after we ordered) & the menu prices were $10 more than what is listed below. Told her we were hungry when we ordered and then asked we are we from & where are we staying. Just above the restaurant.
I hope the restaurant mgr reads this to prove their customer service is better by giving us a credit before we leave August 10
The evening was almost totally spoiled by a stand in hostess. She seemed disinterested, unwilling to be flexible and we noticed she scared several potential customers away by her approach. We sat near the entrance to the patio yet did not see her smile once. She was also inappropriately dressed wearing something akin to a romper suit.
We shall check she is no longer there before booking again. She is certainly not an asset to one of our favourite restaurants.
Had the Grill Burger which was not fresh. Fries were soggy. Too pricey in my opinion and geared towards US tourists. They get 30% discount due to exchange. Wouldn't go back.
Server very attentive and entertaining
All 4 meals excellent
We were on vacation and this was a perfect spot for the four of us. Outside dining was great and the waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and wine list. Great recommendations.
Great presentation, great food, great service! Wines are a bit pricey as the only negative.
The ambience was as non-existent as the personality of the staff. I felt like he was doing us a favor by seating us (with a reservation) in a near empty restaurant. We were there with 2 other couples during the busy summer season. The lack of customers should have been a dead give away. But at least the food was expensive and not good.
Atmosphere and service were good. Food was average and a bit overpriced. Limited menu for dinner entrees.
It was a Wednesday night 8:00pm, not to busy but customers seated all in one corner. There were flies everywhere??. Maybe lunch would be better there
Very good but one of us ordered steak well done and it came to the table medium. Not enough to stop us from coming back though, the food was delicious
Greeted promptly by friendly hostess. Service was good. Menu has lots of choices.
Was disappointed with the mushroom risotto. Not enough mushroom flavour.
We were there for dinner before a show at the Shaw festival. The food was delicious and our martinis were appropriately prepared. Service was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing, and the food was prepared and brought out in an appropriate amount of time for prepared fish.
Highly recommend for your Shaw festival dining.
Was vacationing in NOTL and saw this restaurant on a brochure. Chose it mostly because it has patio dining which is not common in NOTL. Wife had the orange roughy and I had the rack of lamb. Both were incredible! Perfectly done and presented beautifully. Service was impeccable as they were very accommodating and did not rush us. The weather was perfect and the outdoor seating was comfortable and pleasant. Just a great dinner in a great town. I highly recommend both.
A most pleasant eatery with both outside porch and inside tables available. Service was efficient and most congenial. Our group of four had a variety of dishes, The Atlantic Salmon, The Calves Liver, The Seafood Fettucine, and the Seafood Neptune. All four entrees were deemed to be absolutely excellent, adequate portions and nicely flavoured. The collective agreement that the meals were superb was easily reached. Highly recommend this eatery. We will be back for sure.
Great date night
Nice place in Niagara on the lake for a casual meal.
The food was ok, not worth the value. The ribs lacked flavor.
We first ordered onion soup which was more than half soggy bread. Our guests ordered Sole which was very overcooked, the rice was tasteless , the meal was not even adequate and the cost for those two meals & one onion soup was over $100.00. I could NEVER recommend this restaurant.
Not only is the wholesome, fresh Mediterranean cuisine excellent, the presentation & service are superb.
The tender, grilled calamari was divine, as well as the salmon inside dining is warm & private, w/ a large bar.
Conveniently located in the heart of town, near hotels, historic sites, park & shops.
After my first visit, I returned the next day & the following day...Hats off to the Chef & all 3 of my fabulous servers who made this American feel like a local resident!
Grill on King is just off the main street in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the food was very good. We had Sole Neptune and the New York Strip steak, and both were very enjoyable. Our waiter, Chris, was fantastic! I would recommend this as a stop before an evening play.
Was waiting for the dinner more then an hour, when arrived meal was cold, You have to provide a tip more the 15% otherwise the waiter does not say goodbye to you.
Excellent service and the food was great.....would definitely go back again.
My fiance and I were in NOTL for the first time to celebrate her birthday. We chose this restaurant for her birthday dinner and I put a special request to let them know this. I also called earlier in the day to make sure they were aware and they confirmed they were. Dinner came and went with no acknowledgement whatsoever. Our waiter was pleasant but when we got there only the lunch menus were on the table, we were never asked if we wanted drinks, and toward the end of the meal the staff all just appeared to be socializing in the restaurant. Food was good.
My family, visiting from New York City ,really enjoyed everything. The staff was friendly and the service was exceptional. Grilled Chicken Skewer and Atlantic Salmon was delicious. We topped everything off with Apple Pie a la Mode . Highly recommended.
the management strive for the highest quality for service and food..our server Chris was awesome...
Server and Mgr Jim neglected our table because we didn’t order wine and just water. He got his 15% tip that we had to pay via credit card and moved on to parties he assumed would be be tippers that is the truth.
Overall great experience. Food was really good and service was great. Normally prefer to sit outside - but the weather wouldn't permit. Although a little loud inside - not too bad - could still hold a conversation.
This was our first visit to this location. We were pleasantly surprised. Most of the restaraunt sin town are too expensive for us to frequent very often. We lived in town for about seven years and we would come to the Grill again.
Lunch and cocktails were just what we were liking for and this spot did not disappoint. Nice atmosphere to enjoy the great weather. The food and wine were great and the staff was perfect. Will be back and definitely recommend.
The food was scrumptious but the service sucked.
After a day of wineries in the area this was a perfect stop for dinner. Everything ordered was excellent.
We've walked past the Grill for many years when we come to the Shaw Festival and want lunch. This year we decided to walk in. Should have done this years ago!! We had a great lunch with a wonderful, bubbly waitress and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Service was fast, food was very good and the place is very nicely decorated. We will be back!!
This is our 2nd visit as we go to NOTL every year. The food and service is fantastic. Jimmy our waiter was excellent and very funny We will be back later this season and again next year. Highly recommend the shrimp risotto. Cheers
Outstanding experience and inspiring food. Don’t miss if you are in the Niagara region.
