This meal was a pleasant surprise. Stayed at the Westin and had cocktails at the bar. Bartender was great! I recall his name being Chad, maybe Brad? Anyways, he was great. Super attentive to us and all at the bar. Then we had dinner there. My husband Andrew I shared the Caesar salad with shrimp (shrimp was to die for!) and fried chicken sandwich. Both meals were great. Service was on point and it's super easy while staying at the hotel.
We are satisfied with the food although the green leafy veg. Was not too soft but the steak & sea bass were so good , the waiter was good enough to make me taste the wine that I would be liking I like the last one I've tried & will buy that kind of wine I took pic of the bottle. Waiter was so attentive gave good amount for gratuity.
Last minute Mother's Day Brunch for 10 people and wow what a find. The buffet menu was fantastic and the price $65/per person was great considering the hotels down the street were charging $85. The food station layout was very organized and clearly labeled. The raw seafood bar was impressive (crab legs with generous amounts of meat and ton of sweet shrimps), prime rib and roast turkey, pasta bar, baked salmon and the usual breakfast fare) The staff was attentive. Because I'm a city gal, I appreciate that the first 2 hours of parking is validated. So if you're in a pinch to find a good brunch spot for a large group, go here.
i was very pleased to find such a solid restaurant in an airport hotel -- not the norm for sure! the staff was unfailingly lovely, very welcoming and concerned with my happiness throughout the meal. the quality of the food was very good, and the ambition of the menu was far beyond the usual airport hotel fare. i had the grilled asparagus side dish, which was simple yet delicious, and a kobe beef burger, which was much better than it needed to be, on a nice brioche bun with a very large heap of tasty arugula salad on the side side (i passed on the fries). they have nice wines by the glass, and while the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired (it's dark with no windows, in the lobby, missing out on the spectacular view right outside the hotel entrance of the bay and airplanes taking off), it is a pleasant place to spend time. i recommend this place for folks staying at the hotel, or at other places nearby, for a very nice dinner/lunch before your flight.
We dropped by for a quick, light dinner. The service was very good, we had a variety of options for dinner, and the food was good. They also had a selection of local wines that were reasonably priced and good. Overall, a good experience that I'd recommend to others.
Food was pretty good, but the waiter kept forgetting stuff. We had hamburgers and they were plain. He didn't bring out condiments. We ordered coffee and he never brought it out. But the hostess was very nice and recommended all our dishes and we were pleased.
This restaurant is physically located within the Westin San Francisco; however, the expediture on the SPG American Express card is not calculated in SPG rewards.
Trying to get the front desk to make sure the charges are correctly reflected as SPG-related could not be done because even at 8PM the hotel had only ONE PERSON working in the lobby with a line of guests waiting to check-in.
Had to ask the waiter THREE TIMES for either Sprite/7-up/Sprite. Only after dessert came did he bring out a glass of Sprite, for an elderly guest who was extremely thirsty.
I have dined here often for business meetings/lunches while not staying at the hotel. The restaurant is located in the Westin San Francisco Airport Hotel and next door to the Aloft SFO Hotel. The Grill & Vine is a new redevelopment of the original Alfiere restaurant and looks great. Multiple open dining areas& styles to choose from - traditional sit down tables, lively bar area, networking high tables with plugs for laptops etc. For this early dinner (at 5pm), the restaurant was fairly quiet. I had the TUNA NIÇOISE OPEN-FACED SANDWICH which I asked for without the bread - and they were happy to oblige. My dining companion had the PARPADELLE WITH LAMB RAGU which looked and tasted very good. Service was good and friendly. They will validate your self-parking ticket too !
Recovery New Years breakfast was amazing! Even though I am not a Bloody Mary fan, the presentation of the Bloody Mary bar was very impressive! The employees were all so sweet and welcoming as we enjoyed the awesome spread that morning. I drank a mimosa and ate a variety of food- everything was fresh and tasty! So glad we booked reservations because the place was hopping..
For a hotel, this is a high quality restaurant near SFO. My wife had a very interesting lemon drop and I had a very nice porter on draft -- something many restaurants don't seem to offer so I was happy from the get-go. They had a number of nice vegetarian appetizers though there is a little too heavy emphasis on battered and fried for the veggie options. I had short-ribs and it was an excellent meal. The service was excellent and when we ordered a great salad for dessert, they split it four ways without our asking. Very nice touch!
We were meeting friends we hadn't seen in years so we stayed and talked with wine for almost 3 hours and there was no pressure to leave as the restaurant had lots of tables and many turned over more quickly. The chairs are extremely comfortable if you can get those at the tables for four. This was a real plus!
The food and ambiance were that of a third rate coffee shop in a third rate neighborhood. The service was very pleasant. It has been a while since I have had a meal that bad. It was almost interesting because it was so amazingly bad. Corn chowder with little corn, mostly milk or cream. Stuffed peppers which had been sitting for a long while, floating in what tasted like Campbell's cream soup. Ugh. The waiter was very pleasant and eager to please. That was the only high spot. The place is poorly lit, both too light at times, and too dark at others. It is basically a bar. the tables not in good shape and not "dressed." Everything open to the lobby, which made it noisy.
This place never fails to please!
The crafted cocktails are amazing, the salmon filet and chicken wings are out of this world! Their Cobb salad is one of the best Cobb salads I've ever had. It comes with a choice vinaigrette which makes it very refreshing, unlike other Cobb salads served with ranch.
The service is always on point.
I've visited this restaurant more than 4 times and I haven't been disappointed once.
From appetizers to desserts everything has been great!
This restaurant is exceptional for an airport hotel. The food isn't boring at all, and it all is very tasty. Like all hotel restaurants it is a little on the pricy side, however there are many affordable options on the menu (pasta, sandwiches, etc.). The ambiance is nice, it is well lit and there is a warm and elegant touch (for a hotel restaurant). The staff is very well trained, very attentive, and very friendly. This is a well managed restaurant. I will come here again.
2015 update: Yes, we did actually go back for Thanksgiving 2015 dinner and again, it was fabulous!
2014: This year, instead of cooking, my family decided to go out for our Thanksgiving meal and we were not disappointed. The price fix meal was spot on, everything was wonderful. The staff, atmosphere and location are all very welcoming. I will definitely think of returning next year.
This is a hotel restaurant, so I had modest expectations. What I found was a lovely restaurant with an interesting menu and a very attentive wait staff. The host seemed genuinely glad to welcome us, the waiter was responsive, and the gentleman clearing the tables was very courteous. At one point a bartender broke a glass, and everyone went over to make sure he was OK and help clean up. A very civilized dining experience.
My partner and I visited Grill and Vine for dinner on a Thursday evening. The bar area was quite energetic which we expected from a hotel bar in a hotel near the airport. Bar service was excellent and drinks properly prepared. When ready for dinner, our host addressed us by last name without even looking at his reservation screen. The environment is quite comfortable with adequate privacy for conversation. Our waiter Rusi was amazing! He was very knowledgeable of wine pairings and of all of the menu item particulars and offered excellent commentary on our choices. We chose a pasta and a salmon dish for dinner and were amazed at the beautiful presentation and portions. The pecan brownie desert was a very excellent finish.
Pricey, but not for the area or hotel food. Service was terrific--very friendly. Hard to evaluate-- the night we dined, there's was a rather rowdy party that was quite noisy. I don't think that is typical, but it was not ideal for us, as we were tired and frazzled from travel. Staff was apologetic. Food was solid.
