Grey Horse Tavern
Overall great experience. Sorry to hear they will be closing by end of month. Great place with lots of character, farm to table menu and great service. It will be missed.
Food and drinks were awesome. Service was great
Grey Horse tavern is a favorite of mine for Mother's Day. I can count on them to deliver a delicious brunch meal as well as tasty bloody marys. Not too loud not too quiet, the perfect place to treat Mom to a meal on Mother's Day. The service always ends with a smile and the ambiance is set in side of an old rustic country farm house.
Always love GHT! Especially our server Zoe! Cannot wait to return!
This is a great place!! Cozy and welcoming with terrific service. When you pull into the parking lot delish aromas greet you. A quick walk around to the entrance and in you go! Old barn feel- wooden floors, comfortable bar area and a very pretty table in the back porch. Usually a wine drinker the specialty drink menu is too tempting to pass up. Strawberry purée with Prosecco was light and refreshing. The whole menu is interesting! We started with the fried calamari which was crisp and served with a pepperdew-olive topping. My table ordered the tile fish and loved it , salad iceberg and baby kale were delicious. I had the hake with truffles and fingerling potatoes. It was the first time I tasted hake and if I have my way it won’t be the last! The only rule would be it must be cooked this same way! I would highly recommend coming here before they close in June!
Love this restaurant. Everything clicks, from food to ambiance to staff and service. Modern takes on farm to table in an historic setting.
The food was great. Nice place for any occasion.
I love the food and service at the GHT usually. Here's what was wrong Saturday night. My wife's fish dish was not cooked, when she asked the waitress about it she was told "will this part is nice and flakey." I didn't know my wife didn't like it until we got home. We don't like to complain about food but after she told me I felt the waitress should not have made the comment she made. It was not the correct response, it should have been "would you like me to take it back." We go to the GHT at least twice a month and we live at least 25 miles away.
Excellent food and excellent ambiance
The food is always excellent with many new and innovative choices. An attentive and well informed staff makes us feel at home. We're semi-regulars and have never been disappointed.
Everything was very good. Food was a 4 out of 5. Music was great !!
Amazing food, great tap beer and bottle selections to choose from. Chef’s menu and a very nice selection of appetizers and entree’s. We ordered a dozen fresh oysters and they were HUGE and great for sharing. Two of us ordered the Hake, which is a fresh fish, white and flaky. Delicious with nicely cooked potatoes and vegetables. The Berkshire pork chop and flank steak looked great. We had three desserts we shared which were all amazing! The ambiance is quaint and the service was on point. We are already planning our next visit to the Grey Horse.
Disappointing Easter Dinner, Menu limited, not great options especially for teenage boys, items expensive. Although restaurant was not busy, waitress staff was not very attentive. No desire to return.
This was my second trip to Grey Horse and the atmosphere and the staff were nothing less than outstanding. Very much looking forward to returning again.
Food and drinks were totally delicious. Very enjoyable.
Brunch was delicious and the cocktails were great. Love the ambiance of this restaurant. Never have had a bad meal. Always an enjoyable experience.
Excellent , I love the drinks and the calamari were outstanding .....love the place
I have dined here several times. As usual the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Make sure you try the tempura fried Blue Point oysters! I'll be back.
A wonderful place; a very pleasant atmosphere, outstanding staff and, WOW!, the food!
Delicious fresh meal. Great service.
Two of us had duck and two had wild boar. Part of one of the duck dishes was rather tough but overall very good. The wild boar, milder than expected, was tender and nicely dished. I had a great glass of Malbec with the boar. We shared tasty cheesecakes with caramel sauce and had coffee that was freshly made and a perfect end to a very enjoyable time. The wait staff were very up-beat and efficient.
My companion and I enjoyed our Sunday brunch at Grey Horse very much. Great service and quality of food excellent. My friend had a teriffic burger and I had a smoked salmon plate and white bean soup, very good. We shared a strawberry shortcake dessert.
We did feel that things are a bit overpriced, otherwise would have given 5 stars.
Food was great ,service was better, we loved it and would definitely come back!
Dinner for 4. Entrees- Duck, Pork Chop, Hake. Food was excellent and service is too. Never had anything here that disappointed. Til next time...
Great, creative menu. Service was excellent. Great cocktails and beer selection.
Always enjoy the atmosphere. Staff is friendly and well trained. My husband loves this restaurant but didn’t love the tile fish with sobe noodles in broth. Fish was good but noodles and broth not so much.
Consistently good - keeps us coming back!
The food is fresh, and delicious. The portions are perfect. The cocktails are worth coming in for alone. I love the live music, and the wait staff is super attentive and kind. Great place.
The food was delicious and the wait staff excellent! We were seated on the porch which eas great. We coukd hear the music but were able to have a lovely conversation with our friends.
I was looking for a place to eat with live music and was searching the Patchogue area when the Gray Horse Tavern popped up in my search. I love places that ooze character and this place caught my eye. So I chose GHT and I’m glad I did.
We had drinks at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party, there was a male and Female bartenders that were friendly, polite and engaging people, who took time to tell the old buildings History! We were then escorted to our table and the food was extremely delicious, and the waitstaff was friendly, polite and very attentive to everyones needs. It was a quiet place and overall a great dining experience. We then back to the bar and sat down and enjoyed a few more drinks and listened to an excellent local band, Jellyband 10. This place gets a 5 out of 5 rating from me and my party. Although the prices may scare you at first, the food quality and taste is worth every penny!

Food was exceptional as always. A little noisy due to bar activity.
Very good food. Just, not the most friendly menu for Gluten or Dairy Free
Have been coming to this restaurant for some time. The service is wonderful and the food is fantastic. And to top it all off, they have live music on the weekends.
The overall experience is so lovely here. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The servers are all very friendly. Drinks are unique and very tasty as well as strong. The lamb ribs are so delicious and tender with tons of flavor. The oysters are so fresh and ice cold. The only issue I have had here are the entrees. My risotto was soupy and only had truffle flavor with no other notes. I would recommend for large parties and date night.
Can't go wrong with Lamb ribs for the appetizer.
The Grey Horse was always one of my favorite local restaurants, however, a while back, I believe a new chef or owner came in and revamped the menu. They took away their Signature Burger and their Signature Deasert, Beinets. But more than that, what I don't understand is the menu itself. It used to change seasonly, and they had some variety. Now it's been the same for far too long, and barely anything new or different. So if you eat there once or twice, you'll be disappointed if you go back, with very limited choices... same old same old....ruining what was a great place. ☹️
I enjoy going here because of the atmosphere. It’s more like a bluegrass, country place. I have sat at the bar once waiting on a seat and the bartender is good at making a nice drink. I’ve had ups and downs with the food there. One time I went and my salmon dinner was overly salty instead of flavorful from herbs. My most recent visit the lamb chop I had was perfectly seasoned . I will frequently go back because of the ambiance. It allows for a conversation as well as a friendly night out.
Good, fresh food. Friendly staff. Nice ambience.
However, the front room had a very strange noxious smell.
It's our go-to place and, as always, everything was delicious. Service is always outstanding. Our server, Zoe, has been with Grey Horse since the beginning. She's terrific, as were the other staff helping her. If you haven't been there, go. It's a terrific neighborhood spot.
