Grey Gables Inn Ratings and Reviews
Grey Gables is inconsistent in its service and food. We arrived there 10 minutes after opening and the door was locked. We had to call to get them to open up. I'm not sure if the issues were due to the server or the kitchen, but service was slow. Presentation was awful and the food arrived cold. Server was conscientious, but something was amiss this last visit.
The restaurant was very busy, but there were no bussers. The waitress was overworked and stressed out. It was so loud we could not hear our own conversations. I had prime rib and regretted it. The sides were cold.
The risotto appetizer was delicious and gluten free! I wished that I had ordered another one for the entree. The creme brulee was delicious too!
We learned of this restaurant from a local and were extremely satisfied with this recommendation. We ordered the goat cheese appetizer, grilled filet mignon entree and meatloaf special. If you see the meatloaf as an option to order, get it! It was delicious and after we ordered, we noticed it inspired many others dining near us to switch their dinner option to that.
We had looked forward to our dinner once again at The Grey Gables. It did not dissapoint.
This was our 51st wedding anniversary. We had celebrated our 25th at the Grey Gables with two of our parents that were still living at the time. We had our waiter take our photo that will now go next to the one from our 25th.
THe first time I went to The Grey Gables was when I was 10 and have many memories of how much my mother and father enjoyed their time there too.
We came here for the two dinners for $48. It did not disappoint! I had the fish and my husband had the chicken and they were both delicious and beautifully presented. The wine they served with the meal was very good, right off their wine menu. Never sure what you're going to get when it's part of the deal. Great service and ambiance ! Oh, and the scones!!!
Didn't seem like anyone wanted to wait on us. Sat in bar because the music. Piano a very nice touch. We were three out of eight people in the bar. Had to wait forever for a drink. Then had to flag someone down for app. Dinner took unusually long for having no one in the place. Walked through dining and empty. Staff seemed to be more concerned with having own party with other staff who were sitting at the bar. Filet very good, pizza Luke warm needs improvement. Disappointed!!
This was our first opportunity to dine at Grey Gables and we were very impressed The service was prompt and friendly. We ordered from the early dining menu and the food was delicious and artfully presented . When we are in Charlevoix we will be sure to visit their restaurant again
Our Open Table reservation was ready when we arrived. Overall this restaurant does not live up to the quality professsed on the internet nor the quality the servers try to convey in person. I love French onion soup, however their recipe mjsssd the target by 90%. They had the correct ingredients, and for that they earned 10%. The rest of the items we selected were at best slightly above average. On Open Table I indicated we were their to celebrate my wife's birthday. They either did not read that part of our reservation or chose to ignore the comment. No special attention or mention of her birthday was ever included in our mediocre experience. We dined at other locations during our four days in Charlevoix that were both higher quality food, more respectful , more attentiive and slightly less expensive too.
We ordered risotto and mushroom bisque for appetizers. Both were very good. My wife ordered the scallops and I ordered the baked whitefish for our entrée. Scallops were overcooked overcooked and my dish was very heavy. The couple next to us ordered the exact same entrées that my wife and I did. They ordered after us but were served before us which is a little bewildering. Ambience was good. Fair value for the money spent.
