Greg's Grill Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I ate an early Sunday lunch at Greg's before heading back after a long Sunriver vacation. The service, food and ambiance were all excellent. Good wine list. Excellent lunch menu. I had a cup of soup of the day and steak salad - all excellent quality.
We looked at the website menu before going to the restaurant. We were going to have the Beef Brisket and the Cioppino. When we arrived we noticed those items were not on the menu. We asked our waitress about it and she said they have not updated the website. She also said a lot of customers complained about the discrepancy. I asked if the manager was aware and she said yes, but he did not care. I am a mystery shopper for a number of high end restaurants. I would have given this restaurant a low grade for attitude and misrepresentation. We will not return.
I ordered a green salad with a rotisserie chicken breast that was in 1/2" slices which and so dry I had to wash down each bite and gave up after the first slice. My husband's steak didn't have much flavor so he didn't finish it. Our server was very nice and took my salad off the bill but we tipped her for it too. Certainly will not rush back.
Very disappointing experience. The menu limited and the preparation boring. Beautiful setting and could be wonderful if the kitchen expanded their menu and culinary skills. How do you ruin a Caesar salad? I will not be retuning as my last visit was as terrible as my most recent.
Food was excellent; restaurant ambiance very good; meal was diminished by lack luster service. Food spent too much time under the heat lamps while server was distracted. Server also forgot two ordered items. I would still recommend the restaurant, albeit with the caveat of the service.
My meal was no too great. I ordered prime rib and it was tough. I mentioned it to the waiter and he sent the manager over. I was disappointed in the meal but was not going to make a big deal out of it. The manager came over , talked to me and took the majority of the cost off the check . My wife had a filet and it was wonderful. It was her birthday and they brought her a nice dessert. Overall I thought even with my problem with my meal I will go back again if I am in the area.
We have been to this restaurant several times since moving to Bend last summer. It has always been good..until this most recent time. It was my husband's birthday and he had chosen this restaurant. Friday night 730pm--a typical busy time. Our server, Ashley, was a server we have had previously who has done a good job in the past. Not sure what was going on, but she was pretty inattentive and seemed preoccupied. Our food took FOREVER to come out. She cruised by the table 3 times and said "almost ready".... Once it finally arrived all meals were lukewarm. Sometimes I will ask for a manager if something like this occurs but with 5 hungry people we just went ahead and ate our food. The server did not come back until the end to check on how the food tasted and she never cleared the appetizers off the middle of the table. She also only took the rest of the plates after it was evident we were finished. I am planning to write a letter to management as well. Because there are a lot of restaurants in this town and this had been one of our favorites, I may be willing to give it one more try but if it's not a more favorable experience especially when paying $25-$40 per entree,( Prime rib, and a grilled salmon special that was not worth $36,) then we won't be back.
Was there the day before the Eclipse in Central OR. Wasn't the crowd that I think they were expecting. Many window seats were open. Can't get one of these if you have more than 4 in your party. Food was OK as well as service. Location probably means we would go there again, more so than the service or food. 3 orders of the Ahi, one order of ribs, and another salmon.
Love Greg's Grill, great all day happy hour at the bar which it good value and great appetizers . Excellent views from the Patio and inside the restaurant of the Deschutes River. Food is great and always consistent, love the Ahi Salad and the Ahi dinner. Andre the General Manager is awesome, he stopped by and said hello to us.
Very disappointing. I invited friends that were visiting from out of town to Greg's Grill because of their location on the river. And, unfortunately, my husband and I had never experienced dinner at Greg's Grill; we had only been to their happy hour which was pretty good and a decent value. What a disappointing dinner we had! My hamburger and fries were so incredibly ordinary. Under cooked beef (way too pink), cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo. Big deal. It was supposed to be on a Sparrow brioche bun but, it was unlike any brioche I have every had at Sparrow. It was dry and tasteless. I'm surprised that the restaurant can't come up with a slightly more interesting burger?!?! My fries were basic; I had better fries the day before at the little [little!] resort restaurant at East Lake. Our friends each decided to have the wedge salad, which they said was pretty good. But, their bowl of clam chowder was starchy and mostly potatoes. Neither one of them could finish because the taste just wasn't there. For the prices they're charging, they need to pay more attention to the quality of their food. It really was not acceptable. Bend wants to be a 'foodie town'; it's not going to happen with restaurants like Greg's Grill.
This is our 3rd time at Greg's grill, the restaurant is nice, beautiful view of river and les schwab amphiteater..but food lucks everything..this time we both chose to have burgers..i am gluten free and was thrilled to know that they have gluten free buns. We order a wedge salad, pretty standard nothing to be excited about, nothing added, just a wedge. The burgers came, my first bite, i noticed the bun to meat ratio way off, so i looked at my husband's as he asked me if by any chance he got my gf bun (these buns are typically different and maybe why the ratio was off) nope, his meat patty was very thin and although not cooked to his medium rare, more like medium (no pink) it was juicy. The burger had shredded lettuce, tomato and very melted cheese so much that it stuck completely to the upper bun (on both mine and hubby's burger) nothing was added as far as condiments(mayo, mustard, aioli, thousand island, nothing) nothing was brought to our table either..i asked for thousand island, mayo and yellow mustard. I ended up cutting my burger in half, dished half the bun and doubled it up so i would end up with a,half burger with a normal meat to bun ratio. I expressed my ratio issue to the waiter, who offer nothing but his explanation that the patties are supposed to be half pound, nope! More like a quarter pound, the tomato wedge was fatter! Fries were lacking seasoning and were limpy (dispite us requesting extra crispy). I ordered my favorite atlas cider a 22 oz deliciousness which i shared with the husband after he finished his beer..they charged 14 bucks for this goodness(local cider).yikes!that is almost double what i pay at grocery store..our son had the mac and cheese with fruit which was craft mac and cheese and not a home made version which is expected from this "nice" restaurant..sorry, nothing to brag about at Greg's Grill..btw, we've had steak with chimichurri in the past, it was ok..i make better chimichurri and my steak was a bit too fatty.
There were four of us. One salad was mis-ordered and when it finally came it was at best fair (and not inexpensive). The server's ordering error brought a comp on a glass of wine (not the salad). Second salad was good. The other two dinners were hot meals and we would rate as good. The server was very nice and tried to be accommodating but she also had a large number of tables to handle. For this particular date we'd all say that it was an overpriced experience. In the past we've had better experiences and lunch is usually fine.
Greg's Grill is a restaurant we try to frequent every time we visit bend. If the weather is nice, the patio is a great option with its river views. We've always had great service and have always enjoyed the menu. For those who eat gluten free as a diet choice or who have celiacs like myself, they do have some gluten free options and however it was prepped didn't affect me at all.
Disappointed a couple of the featured entrees were already sold out @ 6:30pm on a Fri.
My rotisserie chicken was undercooked, but their other three in our party were content
with their entrees. We've enjoyed their Happy Hour menus on previous occasions, so
we'll at least be back for those selections. We live in Bend, so we have plenty of dining
options in the area.
Greg's never disappoints. The service was great, the food was excellent, and the view is always wonderful, right on the river. The lunch prices may be a tad on the spendy side for some, but we could easily have spent as much at Red Robin. My chicken tacos were packed to overflowing, and I loved the corn salsa. Greg's is also a frequent happy hour choice after a movie.
Seated next to the air conditioning vent that was blowing freezing air, with no way to avoid the sun in our eyes from two of the seats. Server propped up a menu and ketchup bottles to block the cold air (classy).
Took almost an hour to get our food. Server told us there was a party in the back room holding up the kitchen. A. You never tell a table that they are less important than any other table in the house and B. The back room she was referring to holds about 20 people - certainly zero excuse. My stuffed chicken was still refrigerator cold in the middle - asparagus were cold and so were potatoes when the food finally arrived. Two people in my party had the ribs which I have never in my life seen slathered with the obscene amount of BBQ sauce this place put on them.
Server didn't know what a clam digger or smith and kerns was - nor did the bar - suggest possibly googling instead of fumbling at a table. When she did bring the "clam digger" or whatever it was from the bar it was disgusting. The smith and kerns she brought was a smith and Wesson which had to be sent back too.
Manager came over after we sent the cold chicken back and apologized - gave us a gift cert for another visit and said that he took care of it - the bill that is.
Server still brought a bill for the drinks and apps - which was super amusing because the smith and kerns was plugged in as a White Russian. Lol. Overall - this evening went all wrong and we won't be back. I'm not sure if the server was new or not but having worked as a server - she might need some coaching on customer service dos and don'ts.
