Greens is a famous vegetarian restaurant that serves beautifully-prepared food, plenty filling and satisfying for non-vegetarians (like me), and serve quickly and with gusto. Reservations are definitely important, at least for a weekend dinner. We ate at 6:15, and the restaurant was packed already.

We've eaten at Greens many times and never been disappointed. So nice for the vegetarians and vegans in my life to be able to choose from an entire menu, not just settle for what's available.

Sunday brunch at Greens is always pleasant and this visit was no exception. The biscuits are a favorite and the accompanying strawberry jam was a reminder of all that strawberry jam can be. The scramble was not beautiful but got rave reviews from the consumers. The soup -- winter squash and butter bean -- was hearty without being gluggy. The apple-carmelized onion grilled cheese was a thoughtful combination of crisp and oozy and mixed greens with it were especially complementary. In addition, the "Ginger on the Island" cocktail was one of the best ginger drinks I've had -- and I've had a lot. Finally, the sorbets were excellent and the coconut cookie was good enough you didn't know it was vegan. Greens is one of the places where non-vegetarians can eat well and not feel deprived.

We made a reservation at Greens for my birthday and the experience was fantastic. From the recommendations of the wait staff to the presentation of the food, every detail was thought through. The quality of the food speaks for itself and the ambiance is perfect for any special occasion.

If you are vegetarian, this is THE place for you. Many of the ingredients are sourced organically and the menu rotates on a seasonal basis to include different vegetarian options throughout the year. All in all, I can definitely see myself making a return to Greens for round two. :)

Great food but get there early when they open for a window seat otherwise you will find yourself crowded to the next table...six inches from another diner. Not very comfortable dining experience.

The curry was excellent, the rest of the food quite pedestestrian and boring, yet expensive. Beautiful view, buut chair that were uncomfortable and worn out. Service was generally good and quick, but nothing special. Grossly overpriced for what you get. The itemization of the SF Health Care tax on the bill gives the impression they are more interested in their bottom line than their staff's well-being. Tacky.

It’s always a pleasure to sit in their big room and look out at their view. The only negative is the sound level which is quite high. The food is consistently wonderful. Such subtle flavors and textures; a true pleasure. The drinks were also delicious and strong. It didn’t disappoint.

Greens is a long time favorite: vegetarian food so delicious and inventive that it appeals to the omnivores in the group and has, arguably, one of the best restaurant views in the city. The appetizers stood out: two of us had the spring rolls, refreshing and well-constructed with the peanut sauce offering a "frosting" of SE Asia cuisine. The salad on offer was refreshing with a tasty mix of embellishments, from seasonal fruits to Point Reyes Bleu. The enjoyment of the three different entrees varied: the green curry was the highlight--spicy but not too hot with a great mix of al dente winter vegetables. The pappardelle was good, but not spectacular and the wild mushroom and spinach film fell somewhere in between. The apple galette was a delightful surprise, with the baker in our group wishing that we had ordered more than the one to share! (The nuttiness of the crust complemented the apples perfectly!)

On a warm evening, with a table beside a window, it was hard to beat a good glass of white wine and the cauliflower salad. I was eating alone and my servers were sensitive to that. My main course was good but the salad was fantastic.

We have eaten at The Greens several times, and while the flavors are always wonderful, this visit made me realize how much you are paying for presentation and the elitism of organic. My appetizer was a tasty little plate of three half-dollar size potato patties (flavor reminded me of really good country potatoes from a breakfast place). Price: $5 per patty.

Main entree was ricotta stuffed raviolis with cooked spinach on the top. Spinach isn't my thing, but I love raviolis. Not sure I loved them enough to justify the five raviolis costing $6 each. Good flavor, but in the end, they were just raviolis.

My wife and I enjoyed our evening, but our $150 meal truly seamed like it was 50% more expensive than it should have been.

We'll be back, but this time it was definitely 4-star prices this time for 3-star food.

My daughter and lunch treated her mom and I to lunch At Geens on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The views of the marina and the Golden Gate bridge or second to none!

The service here was absolutely impeccable. Everyone of the staff was so welcoming and friendly and helpful.

The food was delicious. My daughter-in-law is vegan and there are tons of options on the menu. Additionally, the kitchen can adjust ingredients to make many of the offerings vegan if they have dairy or egg.

All three of us would definitely recommend a meal at Greens. Everything was perfect.

We went with some friends that we don’t get to see very often. We were seated in an outer room and pretty much forgotten by the servers. When the food finally came it was good, as it usually is. The noise level was very high, making conversation extremely difficult. It was a disappointing experience, and we will probably not go back.

EXCELLENT cuisine for our mixed foodie group. We were all able to eat: one gluten-free, two vegetarian. The non-vegetarians were thrilled and satisfied. Besides wines, they carry wonderful high-end grape juice. Delicious and a special experience.

This an excellent restaurant to bring visitors to the city of S.F. who likes vegetarian food and to show the beauty of S.F. Personally, its a very healthy dinner out. My friends and I will mostly likely dine there again, we want to check out the lunch scene.

Having enjoyed this vegetarian restaurant over the years, I choose to bring a strictly vegan friend for dinner. The skewers were not at all as I remembered: strictly potatoes and tofu covered green sauce for over $20. Majorly disappointed. The highly touted corn fritters were also merely mediocre. Best item: the Sauvignon blanc.

Terribly unimpressed.

I was there at Brunch and ordered a greens hash with poached eggs. Although the plate was tasty, the pesto was CRAZY BITTER! I love arugula, love bitter flavors, but this pesto was so out it felt I was eating dry tea - didn't feel any olive oil, no pine nuts, just a super bitter flavor. It ruined the taste of the perfectly poached eggs, I couldn't feel any flavors once the bitterness stayed in my palate the entire meal. A shame.
