Food was predictably good except for the first course was very meager and nothing special.
Greens is one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco.
Great food, great service , great setting! I always look forward to planning an event at Greens!
Prices are outrageously high, even by San Francisco standards.
Food was sub par: we will not be returning
Still amazing after all these year. The food keeps getting better!
Delicious vegetarian & vegan dishes, lovely ambiance and wonderful customer service!
We've eaten at Greens many times and never been disappointed. So nice for the vegetarians and vegans in my life to be able to choose from an entire menu, not just settle for what's available.
Sunday brunch at Greens is always pleasant and this visit was no exception. The biscuits are a favorite and the accompanying strawberry jam was a reminder of all that strawberry jam can be. The scramble was not beautiful but got rave reviews from the consumers. The soup -- winter squash and butter bean -- was hearty without being gluggy. The apple-carmelized onion grilled cheese was a thoughtful combination of crisp and oozy and mixed greens with it were especially complementary. In addition, the "Ginger on the Island" cocktail was one of the best ginger drinks I've had -- and I've had a lot. Finally, the sorbets were excellent and the coconut cookie was good enough you didn't know it was vegan. Greens is one of the places where non-vegetarians can eat well and not feel deprived.
Brunch at Greens was great! I brought a friend from Chicago who's an expert on food. She loved the food and the view from our window table! Everything was perfect!
We made a reservation at Greens for my birthday and the experience was fantastic. From the recommendations of the wait staff to the presentation of the food, every detail was thought through. The quality of the food speaks for itself and the ambiance is perfect for any special occasion.
If you are vegetarian, this is THE place for you. Many of the ingredients are sourced organically and the menu rotates on a seasonal basis to include different vegetarian options throughout the year. All in all, I can definitely see myself making a return to Greens for round two. :)
Great food but get there early when they open for a window seat otherwise you will find yourself crowded to the next table...six inches from another diner. Not very comfortable dining experience.
Enjoyed the meal.
But slow especially
The curry was excellent, the rest of the food quite pedestestrian and boring, yet expensive. Beautiful view, buut chair that were uncomfortable and worn out. Service was generally good and quick, but nothing special. Grossly overpriced for what you get. The itemization of the SF Health Care tax on the bill gives the impression they are more interested in their bottom line than their staff's well-being. Tacky.
It’s always a pleasure to sit in their big room and look out at their view. The only negative is the sound level which is quite high. The food is consistently wonderful. Such subtle flavors and textures; a true pleasure. The drinks were also delicious and strong. It didn’t disappoint.
Our salads were good ..... my friend waited for her pasta a very very long time after we
finished our salads .should have served it with the salad. . service was not good ...... noise level was terrible . no upgrades to the space in 30 years !! probably won't return any time soon !!
Sorry !! Firely
As always the food was excellent. Have been coming to Greens periodically for many years.
Took colleagues here for promotion lunch. I had the best grilled cheese sandwich and their potato griddle cakes were amazing!
Greens is a long time favorite: vegetarian food so delicious and inventive that it appeals to the omnivores in the group and has, arguably, one of the best restaurant views in the city. The appetizers stood out: two of us had the spring rolls, refreshing and well-constructed with the peanut sauce offering a "frosting" of SE Asia cuisine. The salad on offer was refreshing with a tasty mix of embellishments, from seasonal fruits to Point Reyes Bleu. The enjoyment of the three different entrees varied: the green curry was the highlight--spicy but not too hot with a great mix of al dente winter vegetables. The pappardelle was good, but not spectacular and the wild mushroom and spinach film fell somewhere in between. The apple galette was a delightful surprise, with the baker in our group wishing that we had ordered more than the one to share! (The nuttiness of the crust complemented the apples perfectly!)
On a warm evening, with a table beside a window, it was hard to beat a good glass of white wine and the cauliflower salad. I was eating alone and my servers were sensitive to that. My main course was good but the salad was fantastic.
