The manager made an awesome recommendation on the wine and she was super pleasant as was the waitress. The soup was delicious but the rest of the food was lackluster. Ambiance was very nice. Just feel like the food could have had more flavor.
Normally you are served a bowl of warm nuts and bread with your drinks. We got neither. My $30 plate of polenta tasted like raw cornmeal. Beautiful room but clearly some consistency problems with food and service.
Dining at 9:00pm, near closing time, made to feel a little rushed.
Very good food
Delicious vegetarian food in a gorgeous setting with great views to the Golden Gate Bridge.
Greens is an outstanding gourmet restaurant that caters to vegetarians. They are particularly accommodating to diners with special diets. They happily substituted tofu for the eggs in one dish at brunch. On each visit I have found that they also always had at least one dessert completely free of milk and eggs!
As always one of the very best restaurant in San Francisco without fail. I love Greens Restaurant a great deal. The BEST!!
Love this spot!
I really love this place - the food is great, view is incredible, and the ambiance is very nice yet also cozy for a family get together. Each time we go, though, service declines a bit :( was slow. And by slow, I mean not in the way that food is slow, which I can understand, it's just that we were checked on very little, and things to hold us over like bread or more water were never brought without reminding another passing server. Hope it gets better!
What a pleasure it was to sit looking out at those big glass windows framing a view of boats and the bay. The service was so pleasant and unrushed and the food was nutritious and tasty. And to top it off, we knew we were supporting the good work of the local Zen community.
A solid dining choice. I’m a carnivore who did NOT miss my meat!
Absolutely delicious! Perfect for vegans and non vegans, alike!
Great view, service, and food!
The most amazing food I’ve ever eaten. Service was impeccable and the ambiance is wonderful. My new go to restaurant (and also extra perfect because it’s ALL VEGETARIAN/VEGAN!!!)
The food was good, if not extraordinary. The dressing on my wife's salad was fairly plain. The seasoning on my pasta was pretty bland. And, the beer was warm, something that should have been caught and corrected by our waitress before she opened the bottles. The restaurant is convenient to Marina Green and Fort Mason.
Our late October visit was planned our dinner at sunset.
With the windows open the marina, it was lovely.
The food was creative and memorable and the staff was authentic and while a bit disorganized early in the evening, very attentive.
Lunch was outstanding again - especially with the Blue Angels and others flying overhead during Fleet
Week. Food is always special - always hard to decide on what to order because of vegan style food but in the the end you can order ANYTHING and for us we have never been disappointed. Bakery goods are outstanding (take some home) and desserts as well. Casual and Top Notch - only SF traffic and parking
can be an issue on certain days and times.
Expensive for the food you get. Almost $20 for a string bean sandwich. There were plenty of window seats, but my friend and I didn't get one even though we made a reservation. I think they give couples preference. Good location though and very clean establishment. Not much else to say about it.
Excellent food and service! Will come back in a second!
Wonderful variety of fresh food creatively prepared. Delicious! Loved it and the views from Greens are so beautiful on an amazing, sunny SF day.
Loved the design of the space, the location and the food. Great service.
They had me at the reservation confirmation. I was called not only to confirm the reservation but ask about dietary restrictions and the phone call lead to a candle on the dessert for the occasion. All I had to do was show up and everything went down flawlessly.
I'm vegan and they were super accommodating with my dietary restrictions, not begrudgingly. The environment was warm, the view of the water was beautiful, and I would totally even bring my non-vegetarian friends here, as it is at that level of a fine-dining restaurant (that happens to also be vegetarian) that SF needs much more of.
Guest chef Kim Alter prix fixe dinner was imaginative and delicious. We misheard the price of the wine pairings (very noisy crowd) so we were disappointed that the wine added more than $200 to the price of the dinner.
Celebrating their 40th Anniversary-special chef series.
We arrived a little early and were seated immediately at a window, without our having to ask. It was a beautiful sunset and the server adjusted the shades often to maximize the enjoyment. The service was excellent. There were noisy people at the other end of the room, other wise it would have been pretty quiet. The food was very good for what it was, but I am not a vegetarian and missed the meat. Parking is a dream--free in the public lot and only a very short walk, about a city block. Walking around there on the bay is a pleasure; we arrive in the area 45 minutes early, from a concert. Arriving early is a real good thing there.
We arrived early but were seated immediately. The wait staff were welcoming and anticipated needs.
I especially appreciated the fact that the our needs were met by many different staff. This signals to me that the organization sees the customer as a priority so that our positive experience is their shared responsibility. Very nice.
The food was delicious, but we expected that. The presentation, balance of colors, and textures took it to another level of pleasure, however.
This dinner was brought to us by our loving family members who want to support my husband who has had a recent diagnosis and is undergoing treatment. So the dinner was a double pleasure for us. And what a wholesome gift.
I purchased the cookbook and have it right under my pillow to dream of being able to prepare such delicacies.
Waited 25 min for our table with reservation. Was served water that had a sulfur smell to it and the portions were minuscule and the taste was bland. I hadn’t been in a long time but I fear the reputation is slipping and with a 40 yr anniversary they should try to improve.
Perfect spot for brunch before a performance at Cowell theater. Had delicious butternut squash soup, seasonal fruit salad & cheesecake with figs. My companion had several gluten options from which to choose.
Parking can be bad at Fort Mason, especially when the farmers market is there. I got lucky.
One of my all-time favorite restaurants in the city is Greens Restaurant. The food is absolutely unequivocally delicious.
Lovely location we’ve been going to for 25 yrs. The food was ok but not as exciting as in the past. Our service was extremely slow and disappointing. Every table around us was seated after us, had their drinks and food before our order was taken, and we had to ask for drink refills twice. Very sad experience this time.
The host was great as always on 10/5/19 and the wait was reasonable albeit we had reservations. However, the service was horrible. We knew there was a problem when the table next to us was complaining of having to wait to receive their check. Sure enough, by the time the server arrived, a full 15 minutes had traversed. She appeared to be tired and short on patience. We gave her our drink order and she was gone for another 15 minutes. We then had to wait 20 minutes for our food to arrive. By that time we were out of the water and drinks. We wanted to order more but the server was making a point to avoid our table. When she walked by she made a point to look away and avoid eye contact. The rest of the restaurant staff was frantically running around trying to deliver dinner orders and other drinks. The place looked out of control and all of this took away from the enjoyment of a delicious meal.
We visited Greens to celebrate my son's 30th birthday. We had our 19 month old granddaughter with us and we were made very welcome. We had an area off the main dining room with a fabulous view of the bay.
The food was excellent as was the service. W didn't know what to expect as we booked this from our home in England on Internet recommendations and reviews. We were not disappointed. Thank you
Greens has become louder, more expensive, and the food quality a little lower over the years. This is especially true at lunch on a sunny day. Like many other restaurants they have taken to over using the pepper sauces overshadowing the rest of the dish. On a busy day the food arrives lukewarm which is really bad for French Toast. Service holds up as best it can with everyone covering for everyone else -- who's your waiter again?
Nirvana for vegetarians, but my non-vegetarian friends love it too. The service was excellent. The views can’t be beat. And the food! Exquisite.
We try to come here every time we’re in San Francisco. The service is great and the food is so well done. and if you’re lucky, like we were this time, dinner comes with a beautiful, fog-free sunset.
A quintessential San Francisco experience and also a lovely place to celebrate a special occasion. Truly wonderful food, people, ambiance. Love this restaurant!!!
My fresh spring rolls were delicious and the wild mushroom garnish with sesame oil was exquisite.
My black bean chili was ok. Better than ok actually, but lacking any nuance that made it remarkable.
Excellent service, location and overall experience.
Awesome setting for an anniversary dinner. The food was excellent and the view and sunset were exquisite. The ambiance of the high ceilinged warehouse space is surprisingly warm and intimate with all the petrified wood, and warm lighting.
The view, food and excellent service. Thank you Shane for making our evening so enjoyable and not rushing us. Taking your time with old folks. thank you. Green is a well run machine.
