As usual, Green’s delivers lovely imaginative, veggie meals in a setting with a gorgeous view.
New job celebration!
Everything was brilliant, especially our waitress :) Thank you. It all made my GF's birthday extra special.
Our food took over an hour to come out. Overall, the meal was underwhelming and we did not feel like it was worth the cost or the time and effort to go to the restaurant. The view was excellent, but the tables are situated such that not everyone can enjoy the view. Not sure we will be coming back anytime soon.
Outstanding, we had a great time. Good food, beautiful view, an evening with family and friends what more could one ask for.
Don’t know why I haven’t been there long before this. I’m telling all my friends.
My niece is a vegetarian said it was nice to have more then one or two items on the menu to choose from.
Beautiful spot over looking marina and Golden Gate Bridge. Delicious seasonal dishes and a welcoming and knowledgeable staff. A classic San Francisco classic spot that has been around for many years with very good reason. A class act!
I was disappointed on my recent trip to Greens. While the location and the views are very good and so was the service, I thought the food was just okay - especially for the price. The ingredients are local and fresh which I appreciate but almost $30 for a butternut squash curry? The same was true of the lemon fettuccini and the portion sizes for both of these were not substantial by any means. Not sure that I'll be back anytime soon. Wish I didn't have to write this review.
Of course an excellent meal and fantastic setting as always - servers were very nice but overwhelmed with a late weekend lunch... we were there at 2 PM and service was still slow because, as expected, every table was full. Looked like it started to slow down around 3:30.
Sunday Brunch Service - food excellent, service outstanding
Fantastic sunset table - great food and lively but not too loud ambience.
Great restaurant. However, I've been a vegetarian my whole life and this is over priced.
We had a wonderful time. The view was amazing. My friend is a vegan and she loved it, and I found it very good also (not a vegetarian). The service was fantastic, our waitress was sweet and I happened to briefly mention it was my friend's birthday, she remembered that and brought our dessert with a birthday candle.
Still a lovely venue after all the years, perhaps it has lost a little of the sparkle in the food .
Wonderful food, beautiful ambiance, great service. An all around enjoyable dining experience.
Food and table service was good. My one issue was with the hostess. In our reservation we wrote in the notes that we would have a stroller with us. When we walked in (restaurant was not crowded), the hostess was clearly annoyed that we had a stroller and said she wasn't aware and would have to seat us elsewhere. We told her we put it in the comments but she ignored us. We also made an early reservation on a Thurs night for this reason. It seems like a small thing but as it is already a challenge getting out the door with an 11 week old, it was disheartening to see someone so annoyed by it. I have been to plenty of other restaurants in the city where they were happy to accommodate us with a stroller.
This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The salad was fresh and delicious; the pasta main course was perfect, and the desserts were heavenly. It’s rare that I have such a consistently good experience eating out. Oh, and the service was impeccable! I’m grateful for the entire experience!
It was my husband's birthday and they put at us a table overlooking the water during the time of sunset. It was spectacular. Thank you!
First time for my guest and second time for myself. I didn't catch her name, but the table service was excellent. Amazing view. I appreciated the low noise level considering how noisy other restaurants are in San Francisco. good wine selection. The appetizer, sunchokes dish was amazing! The main dish, mushrooms and grits was good, but would have been even better if it had been less salty. Overall, great experience!
We prefer to support organic foods, when possible, so we don't eat out a lot, except when traveling. We are also mostly vegetarian, moving towards vegan. So Greens is one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco; we've eaten there for over three decades. Their service is always good, the ambiance is lovely. With its fantastic views of the marina and Golden Gate bridge, it's a great place to bring out of town visitors, or to go for an anniversary meal. Plus, it feels great to know that you're doing something positive for your body, as well as your planet.
Food can be more original not copied from indian chaat. Definitely needs to be improvised
The seasonal flavors ingredients features were spot on and legitimate (I work in organic produce, so it was evident). The most standout app the night we went was the white asparagus, the best main was the Carolina Gold rice grits with morels, and both desserts we tried were insanely good—save room! The pomegranate margaritas had a nice crisp clean taste.
I dine here a few times a year. I'm always pleased and appreciate the quality of the local sustainable fare. The only criticism is to the dessert.
I ordered the carrot cake and was very disappointed. It was very much like 'orange cake' with icing and I would just expect a more authentic carrot cake from this restaurant, especially as one pays $9 per dessert on average.
I'll still go but likely will pass on dessert in the future.
The food was unremarkable, the ambiance is not (the IPA beer, incidentally, was the worst I've ever had -- malty and gross).
I'm not vegan but having a great dinner at Greens made me re-think having meat and how it's overrated. Never knew that an all vegan dinner could be so good. At some restaurants you have good items and so-so items but all items at Greens were excellent. You can tell that a lot of care went into every one of the dishes. Waiter told us that it took the owner two years to perfect his carrot cake. Awesome view of the marina and GG bridge at sunset. Friendly staff and knowledgeable waiter. It couldn't have been better.
I love Greens! The food is always excellent and the service is usually amazing. Unfortunately, our waiter on this occasion was not very pleasant and made our dining experience and birthday celebration less than stellar. Perhaps he was having a bad day. For example, when the waiter served the candle with dessert,he just dropped it on the table and walked away. I’ve been to Greens several times and the service has been top notch and smiles by the wait staff all around. I wish my husband’s birthday would have been more memorable. The only time the waiter showed some kindness and a pleasant attitude was when he dropped off the bill, which I assume was to get a good tip. My review by no means should deter anyone from visiting this amazing restaurant, I would be remiss not to share our experience.
You can't beat the location, ambience and view, but the food is not exceptional according to the level of excellence of San Francisco restaurants.
Fresh food and delicious; portions are generous and jystctadty
I recently became Vegan and it is hard to find restaurants with appropriate menus. I had been to greens years ago and I was not disappointed on my return visit. The food was absolutely delicious, and it was nice that they were able to give us a table earlier that our reservation time. We will definitely be back, I told my husband I want this to be our restaurant for all special occasions!
One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. It never fails to please both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The service is always so charming and accommodating. Great for special occasions as well as lovely dinners out.
This was our first visit to Greens since the fire and we were delighted that everything was even better than before the fire! There were subtle improvements to the recipes and presentation of the food. The new chairs were a positive change. The staff seemed particularly welcoming and attentive. It was nice to see some familiar faces including our outstanding server Kloe. Complements to the entire team!
Creative, beautifully presentation and a delicious blend of flavors for a high-end vegetarian dining experience. Wine pairings are spot on!
We were disappointed. It's quite expensive, and the food was just okay. We have to ask ourselves, what draws such crowds of people to Greens year in and year out?
The food was tasty and healthy. Service was excellent. The view was pleasant . Decor was good. The price was a little high for what we got, but you expect that given the location.
My wife and I eat a plant based diet and were very excited about eating at Greens. However, our recent dining experience was a disappointment. Because of Greens’ reputation we assumed we would be treated to a variety of unique food preparations/dishes that were plant based. Instead, the menu was pretty basic and non-imaginative. It was an average meal at best.
We would not recommend Greens to those seeking inspired plant based recipes that you would not make at home.
Kitchen was a bit off for brunch. Our food took a really long time to come out, and when it arrived was subpar compared to what we expect at Greens. Salad had some soggy wilty bits, and our scrambled egg dish, which was supposed to be topped with creme fresh, had what looked like a dollop of old mayo that was separating bc of the hot food beneath it.
Inviting atmosphere with courteous, attentive staff. Food was delicious!
Four of us had four different first courses and four different main courses. All were outstanding: made us feel each item was as near perfection as one might get. Ambient lighting was just right: dark enough to enjoy the view, bright enough to see fellow dinners. Noise level: well, there wasn't any noise, just pleasing sounds of contentment: people talking (and hearing one another), cutlery blissfully clinking, and platters pleasantly plattering. Some might believe prices were high, but that might be due to their prejudices: vegetables should be less expensive than meat to which I say, "Nonsense, one pays for the meal, not the components that comprise it." Service was very good and attentive, especially when one diner requested a "rock" for his Ultimate Manhattan. I am surprised, however, that there is not a more extensive cocktail selection. We had no room for dessert or coffee… next time; and there will be many more next times.
Excellent healthy and tasty food in a beautiful setting overlooking the bay and sailboats
In San Francisco, Greens is one of my favorite places to go - excellent food, service, and view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marina. Who could ask for more?
