Greens food is always great, but this time they were understaffed resulting in long wait times for service. Our server was great just overworked. Not what I am accustomed to at this restaurant, and not up to my expectations of what to expect when patronizing this establishment. 3 stars.
Lovely place that I've been wanting to visit for decades. The sunset view was worth a million. The food was good, but not great. A bit disappointed in the food (and I'm not usually one to complain). Pizza crust was soggy. Pasta not very flavorful. Dessert was awesome. Would definitely go again but with a bit of wariness.
Although the ambiance and service was great- the food was disappointing. We were expecting a far more creative vegetarian experience given the high prices- and hype.
Best vegetarian experience in the city!
Took my granddaughter on her 1st trip to SF. I had been to restaurant several times before. I knew the view across the bay and Golden Gate Bridge would be special. We were there for Sunday brunch. She had the French toast and I had the scrambled eggs with tortillas and chili. Both dishes were excellent. On the way out I got a pistachio cookie. Great morning.
the food was delicious and presented nicely, there was a wide variety of vegetarian options and the desserts were fantastic. an absolutely breathtaking view at sunset! cant wait to go back!
Always a pleasure. Fresh, delicious, vegetarian food served in a magnificently appointed dining room overlooking the iconic San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate bridge. Competent service. Wine list befitting a world class wine region. Will return again and again. Thank you.
The food was fabulous. The service was excellent. I'm planning to rush out and get the cookbook "Fields of Greens!" It made my trip cross country with the time and effort. I was so comfortable and felt like I was at home enjoying a meal with friends.
Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Greens. I had been there years ago, and wanted to go back for a while. Service was excellent, and the food was delicious. View of the bridge was nice, too!
This was our second time to Greens, the first time for dinner. There were 5 entrees on the menu, and each one of them looked better than the next!
You'll never even realize you are at a vegetarion restaurant, the flavors are so fantastic and the preparation is perfect. Wait staff is warm, friendly and professional. PLus for dinner you get to see the sun set behind the Golden Gate Bridge!
Went with a party of 10 people, service was good waiter good, although the food to expensive for average food.
I have no intention to go back.
I had the Indian Thali, which was OK. I would have liked for the rice to be hot, and there was very little red rice as described on the menu. The salad had hardly any dressing on it. But the view was gorgeous, and the service was friendly.
Great food. Wonderful view of Golden Gate Bridge at sunset. Would definitely go again.
This entirely vegetarian restaurant will stand against even the best meat-offering restaurants -- and surpass most of them. The food is great; you won't miss the meat! Also, the staff are friendly and the service is excellent; and there's a great view of the San Francisco marina!
My meal was very delicious - papusas and lentil soup. They also have very tasty cocktails. The water/bridge view is breathtaking, so it is a great place to take out of towners!
When we arrived staff was talking together and arranging their stuff. We asked us if we had reservation twice. Made us wait 15 min 4 a table we reserved. We asked one close to a window and secluded and we had total opposite. Our view was blocked by a big part of wall.
Food was good but not great.
Waiter was sweet.
We were next to a very loud girl.
Overall very dull
Incomparable dining experience. Red Curry was out of this world!
Amazing food, very nice service and overall an outstanding experience! Will be back, that’s for sure. Thank you, Greens, for making Mother’s Day such a pleasure for me and my family!!
Mother’s Day brunch. Everything about our experience was really nice! Wonderful setting, delicious choices for everyone on the menu, quiet enough to converse(a rarity these days). Only negative... how does one run out of makings for a Bloody Mary on Mother’s Day? Obviously, underestimated what Momma’s love!! Xoxo
Mediocre brunch for Mother's Day. The hostess was fabulous giving our family with baby in stroller a private room with a view of the Yacht Harbor. Our server was no more than fair being slow to respond to our requests and not proactive. The food was very uneven. The green hash was a boring dish of tasteless vegetables and overcooked poached eggs. The pupusas okay. The pizza was pretty good. The best were the Little Gems Salad and the caramel pot de creme which were excellent. We guess that the restaurant expected to be exceptionally busy on Mother's Day and planned a menu of dishes that were easy to prepare at the expense of flavor. We had fun being together and VERY much appreciated the private room so the baby could nap. However we were disappointed in the food. We expected better judging from our last visit to Greens. We'll come back but probably not on a major holiday or similar occasion.
I GO HERE FOR SPECIAL OCCASSIONS AND THE AMBIANCE, NOT FOR THE FOOD. I HAD THE ONE PIZZA LISTED ON THE MENU AND IT WAS MEDIOCRE. SO THIS IS A GOOD PLACE TO UNWIND AND GET AWAY FROM IT ALL.
Service was extremely slow, even for a busy mother's day crowd. If the food wasn't so good, I would have left with no desire to ever go back. Still on the fence, but may try again hoping our experience was just a fluke. Will be finding a new place for mothers day next year though.
I usually don't leave comments or reviews even though we're big Open Table restaurant goers but the service was so horrible at Greens that I wanted to leave a short note because it's a real shame. The 2 hostesses at the restaurant were extremely unprofessional, unpleasant and rude. They actually lied to us, sat us at a kids table and refused to be of any help with our reservation on this special Mother's Day. This put a very negative damper on our whole experience. I would definitely not go back and that's because service, care, compassion and professionalism is as important to me in a restaurant as the food.
The food was very good daughter vegan Mother vegetarian so we were able to find good choices
Great variety of vegetarian food. Attentive wait staff. Noise level in the back room was outrageous - had to yell to be heard across the table.
Insanely expensive; not remotely worth the price
This once great restaurant has been declining on the food side for years. Too bad, since the main room is delightful. The once upon-a-time innovative menu has gone stale and the portions for some of the dishes have shrunk to minuscule. The hash and the "pupusa" items are the only dishes large enough to be considered meals. The chickpea soup is a thin tomato soup with four chickpeas floating in it. The chocolate flourless cake is still good, and worth ordering since you will still be hungry after you eat your main dish.
Everything was amazing, I just wish the food potions were a little bigger.
Love the view from this restaurant and if you sit by the window you can often see seals swim in the bay. The food is delicious and changes often which is nice. Freshly squeezed OJ was amazing. The mimosas are good. Service was decent but not spectacular. Overall, I would definitely go back!
Friendly server but she was slow, probably had too many tables? But I would go back.
I have lived in the city 5 years now and dined at Greens a few times each year.
I feel the quality of the food has gone down a little more each year.
Went to a play at Orpheum then csmevto greens for fonner
We’ve been going here for 25+ years, back when only Buddhists from City Center and Green Gulch worked there.
As a vegetarian, it was so lovely to go to a restaurant where I could order anything and my carnivore boyfriend enjoyed it just as much as I did. The staff was amazing. Would get married here ;-)
One of the best restaurants for vegetarian food anywhere.
Thanks. Wonderful food. We appreciated the special addition of the gift of sorbet for the birthday woman! Thanks.
Really nice in the evening and we got a great seat by the window/water for our date. It quieted down when we were eating, but plenty of people around when we were first seated. Food was good for me as I am mostly vegan.
Food was still very good but the service was very disappointing.
Amazing food. Phenomenal service. They make you feel special. We went for our anniversary and they treated us so well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great view, great service, easy access, good healthy food, light airy ambience
