This restuarant is well worth it if you're visiting the Bay Area. All of our food (two apps and two entrees) we absolutely delicious. The sorbet was to die for! I'd come back here in a heartbeat
We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Greens last year and we were looking forward to having another one. My husband ordered one of the entrees - it was delicious. We had already split a bowl of soup that was really good, and I had just ordered a salad. My salad was difficult to eat because of big pieces of broccoli and lettuce that needed to be cut. Not a big thing in the grand scheme of things, but it wasn't that great. Service was not so good and we won't go back for that reason.
The mushrooms in my entree were tough. The service was excellent and, for a San Francisco experience with view, it is one of the best. The tables made from trees are so special and the art work adds to the natural feel of our region.
Greens has a reputation that goes back about 40 years...the cuisine is innovative vegan and satisfies those
who lean towards sustainable, healthy, local and environmentally conscious eating. I am never disappointed and I am not vegan. To top it off, the view out to the little harbor is enchanting.
Portions very small and I’m a light eater. Food just good, not great. Somehow I remember it being better. But a nice experience as always
Having not been to Greens in a few years, we felt lucky to score a last-minute reservation on a drizzly fall day. So far as we could tell, the kitchen has remained true to its origins of providing simple, satisfying, seasonal fare. Origins aside, we would have liked to have seen some more adventuresome offerings, either in terms of flavors or presentation. However, the staff was attentive and very accommodating, the location can’t be beat, and the overall quality of the experience is outstanding.
Love the restaurant but not enough choices!
Sad when a vegetarian restaurant can’t cook eggs. We waited an hour for our food and it arrived cold. I returned it for hot food and the hash was hot but the poached eggs on it cold, not warm - cold. I tried one more time and the eggs were cold again. I finally scraped off the eggs and ate the hash. So much for a fine dining experience. My dish was compensated but I would rather than brought me a side of poached eggs that were cooked correctly. How can a restaurant mess up poached eggs especially since they have such a limited menu anyway.
Delicious and unique food. Our server Cara was amazing! I would definitely come back here again.
My first ever reservation using Open Table. One of the notes in the reservation was that it was a special occasion. That info was never passed on to the Restaurant. Get to the place, views are great it is on the water. Food was meh. It was at best average for food. Our server was nice but when the product they are selling etc isn't up to par then they the server cant do much.
Greens is my favorite restaurant! This is our second time back since reopening after the fire and I pains me to say it was not a great night. We had an early seating and got a table with a window and were so excited. We ordered the soup to start and it was amazing...but then the hummus plate took almost 45 minutes to come out (too long for cooked food, but nothing on this plate was cooked) and then dinner was long and then we waited and waited and waited for the check to come and then we waited and waited and waited for someone to take our credit card. I LOVE not being rushed when eating out, but considering we did not order dessert-almost three hours for dinner was not okay.
This place is one of my favorite spots in SF! Does not disappoint with the great views and I forget that it is vegetarian!
Another great meal, and now that I am a vegetarian, the best place to celebrate anything special. Courses were creative, fresh and flavorful. Our waitperson, Chloe, was attentive and so nice. A lovely evening all around.
Excellent meal with a spectacular view of the GG Bridge. Decor is soothing and setting was quiet so we were able to converse. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. First time to Greens although I'm a native. Will definitely be back.
The brussel sprouts were delicious as was the pizza. The Spring rolls lacked in flavor. The curry dish was just ok.
They are notably a vegetarian restaurant, but I wish they had more vegan options, whether the full entree, or options to make a dish vegan. They should have ready alternatives available and make suggestions. For example, we asked to take the cheese off of the portabella sandwich (one of the only entrees we could make vegan), and if we could substitute avocado. Our server said no problem but then came back and very apologetically said they were out of avocado. The sandwich was delicious as is! But servers should be able to say, "Oh we can substitute this or that to make it vegan (cashew sauce, hummus, vegan cheese, etc.), but apparently there are no ready alternatives. We also ordered the vegan curry which was exquisite!
Ever since Greens re-opened, the food has been outstanding! This is now one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Between healthy, excellent dining and sitting on the water, it can't be beat!
Food good Service very slow. Wait person was pleasant but not well organized.
Always a very nice experience. Menu is good; albeit limited.
Great food, wonderful views and ambiance.
Wonderful service and wonderful, inventive food. We will be back for sure.
First visited from St. Louis, Mo., in 1992 or 1993, and now that I live here, it's such a pleasure to head to Greens now and then! Always a terrific experience and wonderful food. Glad you're open again!
Many years since I had been there. Food was fabulous and the service experience exceptional. What more can you ask?
Every dish was extraordinary and healthy. Win win!
On my honeymoon 33 years ago, my husband and I drove to SF and had dinner at Green's so it has always been dear to my heart. My young adult kids are all vegetarians so I love taking them to Green's when they come to visit. It's location right on the water and water views is the Best. When we make a reservation we are seated right away. My vegetarian kids really love the food and I find it tasty, though the bill always shocks me when it arrives. A bit pricey for what it is. I feel like I am paying for our view. I also find the wait staff to be polite but not warm. Once the food is served they can be tough to flag down. But I will go there again and again and recommend it to friends for the exceptional location and tasty food.
Always excellent. We had an especially good experience this time.
Another fantastic meal at Greens. So adaptable to food allergies (I can't eat gluten or soy and I am vegan). Perfect evening.
Great vegetarian restaurant! Beautiful view of the Bay. Wish there were more vegan options.
Being a vegetarian, I thought the choice of dishes could be better. Some of them were very sweet or too bland. The flavors were not appealing. But the service was really good.
Best quality and presentation, outstanding vegetarian and vegan food but pricey.
Excellent restaurant! We requested a quiet table by a window and received both! And the food and service are really excellent.
I have eaten at this restaurant several times and even though the menu changes seasonally, it is consistent in that there are enough selections to satisfy the most discriminate dinner. It is also consistent in quality, flavor, presentation, service, and ambiance.
Always, always outstanding. Egg yolk fettuccine with chanterelles and toy box tomatoes was luxurious and delicious.
Enjoyed a window seat on a rainy day. Beautiful view. Food was an enjoyable experience for the palette, portions just right. Would definitely go again.
Unfortunately not as good as it used to be- smaller menu and flavors not as rich
Delicious food, wonderful people. As always, bravo, Greens, BRAVO!
Wonderful setting and delicious food.
Delicious vegetarian dinners, beautifully presented. There is enough to choose from to satisfy someone who doesn't ordinarily like vegetarian food.
We have been going to Greens for special occasions for decades. It is always good. Beautiful views at the window seats. Delicious, creative vegetarian and vegan food. A tad pricey, but we've always felt it was worth the price.
