Greenhouse manages to deliver on all fronts with professional caring for its customers. Perfect for brunch. Just superb. It is not as party spot nor is it really meant for large parties despite having the capability. It the classic Victorian venue and should be treated as such. It should be noted that as this is a niche destination, certain customers might overplay their egotistical behavior in how they treat the staff and other attendees. However so professional is the staff they handle people attempting to show off very well indeed.

Delicious Belgian waffle and eggs with breakfast potatoes. We love this place for breakfast.

My favorite spot in DC for a business lunch. Wonderful food and a beautiful environment with a low noise level that fosters conversation.

Once the Hostess looked at my correct time of arriving on time (she said I was late) we finally agreed on a table that was satisfactory. An alcove is nice but our waiter had a hard time continually to find us. With a lunch meal for 2 at $275.. with wine, one wonders what the hype is about at the Plume! With this level of service, I will not find out.
Even with the notice of inattentive service, no apology was even given.
So- not again.

The Greenhouse is beautiful, the service is impeccable, and the food is always delicious. There are few places in Washington where you can actually have a conversation while enjoying a good meal, and this is it.

The Greenhouse at the Jefferson is definitely one of DCs gems. With great ambiance, food, and great service -the latter being quite rare these days in DC--you will not be disappointed when you visit. I brought my sister here for her birthday breakfast and then my mother for a mother-daughter date and both were exceptionally pleased with every aspect of their experience. We will definitely continue to visit the Greenhouse!

We had such a lovely brunch with friends. It's just the best spot! The food is delicious. I can never decide - so many good choices! The service is top notch! We love the privacy of the alcove! First four of us comfortably!

We came to the Jefferson for afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday and it was just lovely. I've been to afternoon tea nearly everywhere in DC, and the Jefferson is by far the best location. The decor and ambiance were stylish and relaxing. Food and tea were high quality. Attentive service. Valet was totally worth it. A+ all around.

The entire experience at The Jefferson's Greenhouse is extraordinary from start to finish. I've always been greeted promptly and warmly and efficiently shown to my table. My guests have enjoyed the same politely warm treatment. The wait staff is excellent - knowledgeable, attentive and gracious. The chef is adept in preparing excellent dishes that are creative using fresh ingredients in delicious combination often tailored to the requests of the diners. I find this one of my favorite places for lunch time after time. They have never wavered from delivering an extraordinary and delightful experience.

Excellent, as always: food, service, ambiance. Took two British friends who were staying at the hotel and heard them exclaim about everything they had experienced there.

We came here for brunch to celebrate my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. I requested - and received - a very lovely table. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. The lemon ricotta pancakes were tasty. But I found the omelette rather bland and in desperate need of seasoning. The pastry basket was okay, but not enough for six people.

Which brings me to the service. As a former server, I typically read reviews of people complaining about service as having more to do with people having unrealistic expectation than it does with the actual service received. And maybe that's the case here. But I'll say this: if there are six people at the table, you should tell us that there are less than six items in the pasty basket. You should ask your guests how their food is after they receive it. Better yet, you should return to the table at least once after you guests received their food to be sure they don't need anything (I would have loved an orange juice). You should inform your guests that because you're a party of six, you won't be offered the full brunch menu, but rather an abbreviated version of that menu (and maybe explain to your guests why that is, it's still not clear to me. Indeed, I had to ask the Maitre D' on my way out after seeing the full menu on display and wondering why we never saw it at the table). You should offer dessert to your guests if that's an option. You should smile.

Anyway, maybe I had unrealistic expectations of what to expect from a place with a gorgeous setting and 19 dollar pancakes. Oh well.

I was on a business trip and had time for a sit-down breakfast. I ordered the Belgian waffle with the berries on the side and it was crisp and flavorful. I also had a nice pot of hot tea. The service was excellent and I didn't feel out of place as the only single diner in the restaurant. I hope to visit again on my next trip.

Good food in a beautiful setting. Felt rushed though, which I didn't appreciate- or understand, as it was 10am on a holiday and only 2 or 3 other tables were filled.

The purpose for my visit to the Greenhouse at The Jefferson was to enjoy lunch in an incredible atmosphere with the best service imaginable. Unfortunately, the service was lackluster. We were hardly checked on by our server and we were never once asked what we would like to have to drink. We were served water once we were sat at our table, and that was the last drink offered to us. Typically servers ask what one would like to drink, or at least offer a wine list. Not so at the Greenhouse. With all complaining aside, this place did have great ambience. The decor and architecture was timeless, and made for a more than comfortable dining experience. My cobb salad was impeccable and the ingredients were noticeably very fresh. I can't say I would reccomend the Greenhouse to anyone other than those who are perhaps having a business lunch , simply because you'll feel ignored otherwise.

Expensive, but with great quality (and better than expected quantity); impeccable service. The food is tremendously good, but it is a bit overpriced, be warned. Brunch menu is extensive and appealing, and the staff are incredibly attentive.

My daughters and I had a lovely time at the Greenhouse Sunday. We arranged to have high tea in honor of one daughter's birthday. The staff was most gracious as was the ambiance. We delighted in the selection of the tea sandwiches and thought the desserts were a stand-out, including the mini churros and the custards topped with apricots. This was a memorable way to spend a late summer afternoon. We can't wait to go again!
