I was entertaining a visiting friend. I always return to the Greenhouse because it is both lovely and has great food. The wait staff is wonderfully accommodating and courteous.
This was our first time at Greenhouse, and it definitely will be the place of choice from now on for brunch. We had asked for a quiet table, and we were given a lovely table by itself, under a skylight, separated from the other, noisier tables. The food was spectacular, and we could hold a sustained conversation without interruption from other guests or from our servers. Indeed, our servers were there when we needed them, but they were discreetly in the background when we didn't want to be disturbed. My husband and friend ordered chicken and waffles, which they said was tasty. My avocado toast was fabulous; in fact, there are lots of vegetarian choices on the menu.
Food was average. Service was slow. Very echoey loud space. Average brunch but overpriced.
Good food and ambiance
The room and food were beautiful and excellent. Service was poor as staff did minimum and required constant direction. Drinks not refilled, staff not accessible to even ask for what was needed, etc.
The price was very high for what we had too. $12 for a small glass of orange juice that we were never offered a refill or asked if we wanted more. $7 for a tiny Coke, also not refilled or asked. These are just examples.
Not so many choices but the ambiance is very good!
I enjoy holding business meals here as it's quiet, charming with great service and food.
We loved it for brunch, it was just perfection.
This is a lovely, elegant restaurant. The experience is a true treat.
I continue to appreciate The Jefferson Hotel's (and the Greenhouse's) ambience and high quality of food as well as impeccable service. It is always a pleasure to meet a friend or client there for lunch. The menu is sophisticated, but also flexible and recognizable. The dining room / environment allows patrons to have a relaxed conversation, which frankly is not common at many comparable venues.
Beautiful space.style reminesant of beaux arts paris .
We were there for lunch. Very good food and service.
We dined at Greenhouse at the Jefferson Hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food, service and atmosphere were extraordinary. We are so pleased we celebrated at Greenhouse!
I loved this place. Great ambience and good food. I would def go back. It’s def one of my fav brunch places now.
Our server ignored us completely. White of support and given my
Very beautiful hotel but ambience at the Greenhouse may be improved by playing background music. It was too quiet!
Overall a great experience! Already recommending to friends and family!
Decorated beautifully for Christmas. Lovely elegant setting. Nice menu. Quiet place to have a nice meal. Enjoyed a delicious latte and flavorful bacon.
Food was very good service was attentive. Tables are very close so there is no private conversation. Given the prices, some breakfast pastries would have been nice. Cost for two for a very nice breakfast with tip is $100
It is an ideal location to enjoy a special lunch for the holidays. Just lovely!
The Greenhouse is very elegant and exceeded all expectations. We had brunch, lemon ricotta pancakes. Absolutely delicious. Service impeccable. Nice quiet atmosphere conducive to conversation.
Elegant and delicious.
Lovely, classic atmosphere with extraordinary ambiance and service. Beautiful and elite in feeling for a special meeting or to treat yourself and a friend to an elegant breakfast. Perfect!
Great atmosphere and excellent food.
A little pricey for lunch ($100) for two, but loved having a quiet place to catch up with an old friend.
Went for lunch w family the day before Thanksgiving - we had read reviews it was quiet and my father can not do noisy- it was perfect due to the holiday we felt like the only one in the place, great service, got a tour of the various cozy sitting rooms in the lobby, bar and it was elegant and well done Love classic decor and it was!
A very nice and relaxing place for brunch with a good menu selection.
I loved this place! So gorgeous and the food was delicious; perfect for a tea party or brunch to feel fancy!
This is a great spot for a business lunch, especially if you are not seated near one of the large tables wit h a group lunch. The service is impeccable.
Second time and the service is great as well as the food.
The alcove is wonderful. Beautiful experience in every way.
Great location for a quality business lunch. Food is very good, along with the service. Had two appetizers that made a wonderful lunch.
We’ve been looking at reviews for this restaurant for quite a while and finally made reservations for a birthday lunch. With our reservation we requested a quiet table and were extremely pleased to be seated at a romantic table within a nook with only two tables, a wonderful full ceiling skylight and beautiful green plants. Absolutely perfect!
We both ordered the lobster wedge romaine salad, served with hot rolls. Prior to ordering we asked about how the lobster was served and were pleased to learn that it is served as lobster meat, NOT chopped up and mixed with mayonnaise. We were both pleasantly surprised at the amount of lobster served on the salad.
The romaine was cut unusually into “vertically” long strips. Served with a lemon vinaigrette. This salad was absolutely wonderful. Ate every last bit.
We both had a lovely Riesling. No room for dessert.
All of the wait staff were very professional, attentive – excellent service.
We will definitely return to the Greenhouse at the Jefferson Hotel.
The perfect elegant gem.
The Greenhouse is a very elegant place to have Sunday brunch. Our friends, cosmopolitan world travelers, were quite impressed with the sunny, airy ambiance of the restaurant. The food presentation was great looking, and tasted equally good. In particular, the Belgian waffles were light and airy, paired with sweet tasting berries.
Beautiful setting with elegant service.
A true splurge and experience. Great food and atmosphere in a historic hotel.
I wanted a quiet place for a business meeting with a friend. There was no noise, so we were able to converse easily. The restaurant lived up to the excellent reviews and beautiful photos on Yelp. We sat at one of 2 tables in a private alcove off the main dining room which had colorful live flowering plants and a running fountain. The restaurant was very bright with natural light, but there's no view of the outdoors. No mind, the interior marble decor was classic and elegant. The service was excellent from the doorman, to the personable hostess, to the waiters. They brought us each a small footstool to rest our handbags. Never saw that before!! The place settings and china were beautiful. I had the hash brown which was very large, so it was undercooked in the center, unfortunately. Being vegan, they gladly substituted the accompanying sunny side egg and dried beef with asparagus and spinach, which I appreciated. The fresh squeezed orange juice was delish. Not sure it was worth $12 per glass, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The waiters didn't rush us, although they frequently stopped by to quietly see if we were finished. There were quite a few empty tables, but maybe someone had requested our choice table? The only other negative is that the restroom is one level down, but there''s an elevator. The trip to the bathroom was worth it. The chaise longue looked so comfortable, I was tempted to take a nap. I appreciated their mouthwash, after having eaten the green onions in the hash brown. The marble tile was beautiful, and the restroom was roomy, clean and odorless. Overall, I enjoyed my Sunday brunch. I recommend it for special occasions, or if you're wealthy, or can write it off as a business expense. Expect to spend close to $100 for 2 including tip, but without alcoholic beverages.
This is a beautiful space and the prices are comparable if not better than many other 'hip' brunch places that look like a remodeled garage. The coffee was quite good I was able to warm up my cup several times. The service was impeccable from door to table. Normally, I wouldn't comment on the chairs, but the seating at many restaurants has become unbearably uncomfortable. The chairs at the Greenhouse are plush and very comfortable. Additionally, the tables are not all smashed together--there's plenty of room for each table and a good amount of room for each seat at the table. The menu was uninspired and I think there was little that was memorable about the omelet or the lemon pancakes (which sounded amazing). I would come back with a friend or family member that wanted a comfortable pleasant meal with no crowds or 'scene'.
My daughters and I had a wonderful brunch on Fathers Day. Beautiful atmosphere, lovely service and delicious food. Valet parking was reasonable and very convenient.
Excellent business lunch. Will return with friends. Worth every penny. Fantastic all around.
