Greenbriar Inn, The
The food was impeccably good. I had the duck breast entree and my wife had the beef wellington, along with artichoke soup and creme brulee. Everything was top notch quality. Nice ambiance and scenery and good, knowledgeable waiter. The only thing even remotely negative was that they really need to dust the blinds.
I took my 86 year old father for Sunday Brunch on Father's day. They were good about calling in advance to find out if stairs would be a problem (they are) and found us a seat on the main floor.
We arrived towards the end of their brunch seating times, perhaps this was an issue. This was a buffet, and many of the dishes were nearly empty in their trays and the food in them seemed overheated and dry. The prime rib and turkey slices were pretty good, as were the desserts. The rest not so much.
Service was marginal. We were seated in a back corner, and it took 15 minutes or so initially for someone to come over with water, etc. (we finally gave up and just went to the buffet). Since it was a buffet, the person "serving" was really there to clear plates and answer questions, she seemed pre-occupied with the two larger tables next to us (one of which she clearly had regulars). We had to flag people down for salt and pepper, etc.
Perhaps it was the table, but it was also quite loud. Besides all the conversation from both tables around us, a speaker in the ceiling directly above us was playing music. Many times my father had to "lean in" to hear what I was saying.
It is a very pretty place, and the grounds are very nice as well. People were very friendly. Nice bar where my dad was waiting for me before I arrived, watching the U.S. Open.
I've had one other dinner at the Greenbriar Inn in the past year or so, it was also not bad, but not great. There are too many fabulous places in and around Boulder where I have had a better experience (particularly at this price point).
The food and service are always excellent. The Sunday brunch features an incredible assortment of delicious dishes.
Great restaurant for special occasions. The staff are very attentive, brunch and the food is exceptional.
Took my husband there for Father’s Day Brunch. It has become his favorite place for a special occasion. Isabelle, our waitress was very attentive. The food was great! Look forward to returning for dinner soon
Sunday brunch is decadent and delightful. Start with cocktails, classics like mimosa or a bloody mary, a more specialized one (I liked the bubbly with elderflower), or a latte. The buffet is sumptuous. A cold bar of raw oysters, shrimp, cheeses, fresh fruit, various salads. Yogurt and granola, bagels and lox. Multiple hot entrees, traditional items like waffles and pancakes with berry compote, bacon, scrambled eggs, creme cheese blintzes with strawberry (one of our favorites) as well as gnocchi, fantastic seasoned hot salmon, eggs Benedict, and a carving station of ham, turkey, beef. Every kind of dessert in small bites or slivers, such as rich creme brûlée (my favorite), chocolate dipped strawberries, lemon tart, pumpkin pie, whipped creme, flourless chocolate cake, raspberry moose. The only tiny improvement I can suggest would be the bread rolls which we found dry and tasteless. Service is attentive and friendly. Setting is lovely, whether outdoors on the patio in a vibrant garden under an umbrella or inside with its traditional wood warm paneling.
The quality of the entree was not up to the standard we have experienced before at this restaurant. Hopefully this was an aberation.
Fantastic meal & wine selection. Colorado fillet was extraordinary, scallops good, wine pairing spectacular, & flourless chocolate cake amazing!
Food was excellent as well as the service. We ate on the patio in the evening and did have some trouble with mosquitoes. A citronella candle was provided for the table but not until almost the end of the meal. The seating on the patio is not very comfortable but the surroundings are nice and except for the two things it was a lovely evening.
Beef Wellington was great, I do recommend the Ceaser Salad for two also. Thank you!
Our special place for all occasions, one of the best restaurants in Colorado, great staff and excellent food.
Food is flavorful and service outstanding. Expensive meal, but worth it.
We attended a graduation party here and were so impressed with the salmon meal that we decided to come back on the following Wednesday to celebrate our anniversary. Good choice! The Beef Wellington was spectacular and the wine they picked for us was a perfect (and reasonably priced) compliment to the meal. The atmosphere on the porch was lively but also romantic. The service was exceptional! The meal was pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Finish off with the house made limoncello. You won’t regret it!
The Greenbriar has become one of our favorite places to go for a special occasion. The food is always amazing, but the service makes for an unforgettable experience. The wine cellar has turned up some gems that have brought my father (who is from France) so much joy. I highly recommend the Greenbriar.
I had been a long time fan of this restaurant since the 80's, when we would come for holidays and special events. And then when I got engaged several years ago, I knew I wanted my wedding to be here. It is the perfect place for a wedding!!!!!
And we go back every year on our anniversary, which is also perfect.
Went for our 35th anniversary and we treated royally. From the opener and cocktails to the staff made us feel very special. The food and presentation were excellent, and the ambiance is wonderful. We've been here before and will return again. Highly recommend to anyone.
We decided to give it another try (after years) for Mother's Day and were shaking our heads with our surprise at how bad it could be. It's one of those places that SHOULD be amazing, but simply does nothing to keep up with modern cuisine (or deliciousness). At the same time, we get a kick out of the old fashioned ambience. Service was mixed.
Wonderful Mother’s Day brunch. Special surroundings to celebrate an occasion. Foods was varied and delicious, excellent attentive service and pretty gardens (not withstanding the rainy day)
We visited Greenbrier for our 2nd time - both for college graduation celebrations. Service and most food was good. The halibut special, however , was completely overcooked to the point where it was not worth eating. This special was expensive -$42. I alerted the server and it was clear from the not eaten portion on the plate that the dish was not acceptable. No apology, no bill adjustment- nothing. For such an expensive special, this was not acceptable in my view. I will not return to the restaurant.
Lovely food, exceptional service, glorious location, well-appointed room where good conversation is possible because the room itself isn't noisy and dampens noise. Loud places do not encourage conversation or intimacy, only headaches. The Greenbriar encourages romance and companionship.
We went to the Greenbriar on Sunday evening to celebrate a birthday. We enjoyed the friendly staff, great food, lovely atmosphere, and we really enjoyed ourselves!
This is not the 1st time we have visited the Greenbriar nor will it be the last. This is an excellent restaurant with great ambiance (especially Spring & Summer); a great menu and excellent service from the manager down to the bussers. Brunches, while expensive, are much fun and good food. But we also enjoy lunch & dinner there. Hope it lasts for 100 years!

Wonderful brunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. Food and service was wonderful. We were blessed with beautiful weather, allowing us to dine on the patio making brunch even more spectacular. Highly recommend the Greenbriar!
I had a $200 gift certificate from my realtor in Fort Collins for the Greenbrier. My partner’s birthday was yesterday, my daughter and her husband drove up from Denver, and we had a lovely time. The grounds are so beautiful, the food is very good and delicious, the wait staff is excellent. Thank you.
we had a great birthday brunch. The food was excellent, noise level appropriate and overall experience. The was very attentive and there were plenty of options to meet everyone needs. Two people in our group did the champagne brunch and there glasses were always filled. they also had sparkling apple juice for those not drinking which was a very nice touch for our kids.
The only complaint was they did not cups for kids, luckily I had a few stashed in the car.
The Greenbriar Inn is such a warm, inviting restaurant. Our wait staff was so engaging and attentive. I recommend this gem for any special occasion. The food was almost better than my cooking, :) My family and friends will definitely return to enjoy their incredible brunch.
I don't think a great chef has to be avant-garde. Quality food, beautiful presentation and superior service makes a meal special. Disappointing not to have at least one lamb choice.
The food was delicious, exceptional flavor, and ambiance. It was a special occasion and we were treated like celebrities. Truly a wonderful experience.
A nice drive in the country for a sumptuous Sunday brunch/feast. Mostly simple with a few daring twists. Cheerful staff and a charming place
Loved The food. Steak was the most tender i ever remember eating. Great/attentive wait staff. Went for our anniversary and we were offered a complimentary glass of champagne. Very nice. Beautiful grounds and scenic views. Great place for a wedding or reception.
I enjoy the Sunday Brunch every time and the bloody Mary's are very tasty
I love the feel of this place. Sunday Brunch is always a favorite. Dinner atmosphere is excellent also.
The Easter Buffet was everything we could have asked for and more!
The service is always excellent and I love how they change their menu according to the season! Beef Wellington is always a good choice!
We had Brunch and it was great food, great service, beautiful location, nicely displayed, good selection, good champagne, and a very reasonable price
Incredible, top-notch experience here at Greenbriar, all around. Delectable and artistically presented food, expertly recommended drink pairings, and classy service at every turn. Once in a lifetime experience, I definitely recommend adding this place to your bucket list. You won't be disappointed!
We have been dining at the Greenbriar for more than 40 years and sadly this time we were disappointed. The food was just not up to their usual standards - actually not even close. We hope it was just an off night and will certainly try again. We understand there is a new chef - and sincerely hope he improves.
It was a beautiful evening, spent with good friends, enjoying the opportunity to relax and catch-up. The service and hospitality were exceptional. The food and wine were outstanding. A very special place!
We had a lovely Thursday night get together with friends. The food was excellent, the service was exceptional.
