Never again. No idea why this place is so famous for it's brunch. It was like they'd never done it before. When we arrived people were threatening to leave because they were so late seating reservations. First pass at the buffet, no: shrimp, eggs Benedict, waffles, quiche and a decimated dessert selection. When the quiche was finally replaced, they had simply put a new pastry crust over what had been served elsewhere. What was left in the chaffing dishes had been on the heat too long and was over cooked. In the hour and a half that we were there, precious little was added to the buffet and the over-held food was not removed. The serving utensils that were caked with cold food constituting further health risks. It was difficult to get a refill from the wait staff. The most contact we had with our waiter was when he ran into me at the buffet and later careened into our table. Truly a disappointing and frustrating experience that was meant to celebrate an anniversary.

Our Widows Group went for Sunday Brunch. The food was excellent, quality. However, the desserts were lacking. Not much to chose from and not very tasty. Need to work on that. Been coming here for almost 40 years. Used to love the German Food.

Food (Sunday buffet) all excellent - superior to any buffet we’ve experienced. Even though the venue was very busy, service was equally as excellent as the cuisine. We look forward to returning to try the evening menu very soon. It’s about an hours drive for us but proved to be well worth it!

This was a return visit for their scrumptious Sunday Brunch ~ and now probably at least an annual event for us! The food and service are excellent and the festive holiday decorations just add to the charm of the Greenbriar. Even with a growing holiday crowd the service continues to be top knotch!

The meal started well. We received advice on our wine choice which allowed us to choose wisely. However, the advice we received on the Beef Wellington was not as good. Medium was undercooked for our taste and the Béchamel sauce does not contribute to the dish. Regardless, we were still ok with it all until our coffee required 20 min. The waiter apologized but his excuse was that the other party was large. This all led to a conflict with my spouse. It ruined our dinner. I will never return.

We arrived pretty much spot-on time (6:45pm) for a midweek, evening meal. The parking lot wasn't full, and the restaurant wasn't either, in fact it was pretty much deserted.

Which made it all the more confusing that they walked us through the main seating area, out to the extension, and sat us on an inside table, the one nearest the toilets.

Service was split between an experienced staff member, and an inexperienced member of staff. The former was too "chatty" and the latter, missed things.

We ordered a couple of appetizers, Oysters to split, and a special. They didn't have the vintage wine we ordered, but did have one from a year newer which they'd received as a taste. The more experienced waiter, opened the wine, and proceeded to taste it before offering it to me.

Appetizers arrived, followed by a decent pause, and then the entree. I asked for some bread, and the more experienced was surprised we hadn't been offered any already.

When it came to dessert, we asked for Bananas Foster For Two, but for three. They said that would be fine and they delivered, what my wife called a "pretty good foster".

Overall there wasn't anything wrong, I just got the impression they were not on their game that night, which was strange given there were maybe 12 customers total. Dinner for 3 $203... probably not worth it,

Our experience was very pleasant. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the service was first class. We went for the Sunday brunch and most of the food was excellent, especially the salmon. Some of the food seemed like it was just too routine. Overall it was a great experience and I am glad we went.

We were there for Thanksgiving dinner, which was a buffet and as I understand, a new format for them. It was incredible! Many food choices (shrimp, 2 salads, cheeses, salmon, prime rib, turkey - of course, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, etc.) Everything was perfectly delicious - honestly! All of us were very impressed with the quality of food, service, wine, atmosphere. It was a perfect Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving brunch was quite good and serving buffet style made the process relatively efficient. It was rather noisier than I remember from previous visits, and the service was a bit slow in taking and delivering our initial drink orders and getting the check, but these probably reflect the fact that the restaurant was quite busy. Overall, I would do it again.

The Greenbriar just switched their Thanksgiving Day to Buffet style vs ordering from a menu. They did a good job. A bit pricey, but not really out of line with what the other restaurants charge for special occasion buffets. And they are very open in letting you know ahead of time what the cost is.

The Greenbriar is one of our go-to places for a special occasion in Boulder. This time it wasn't a celebration of any kind, but it was "First Bite," so that still makes it special. The Greenbriar is a classy place: beautiful interior, outstanding service, consistently good food - and, unlike too many of Boulder's upscale restaurants, it offers some reasonably priced wines. We both started with the squash bisque, which was very good. My wife ordered the trout amandine as her main (excellent) and I had the Bolognese (very good). We closed with the apple cake (wife) and pumpkin brûlée (me), both excellent. This time we went with the $25.00 wine flight, which matched our entrees perfectly. All-in-all, a lovely dinner at a lovely restaurant. We'll be back!

Not flashy or hip, fifty years old, a bit of a drive from town, but still one of Boulder's best restaurants. A great wine list, excellent service, and extremely good food from start to finish. A wonderful dining experience.

The desserts were probably the best part of our Greenbriar meal. I had a flourless chocolate cake, a thin wedge that was very good, not quite fudge. My husband had some sort of apple cake with apple slices beside it that was also very good. As a main course I had trout "almondine", the quotes signifying a variation on the traditional that was not a good idea -- some sort of smear of almond puree under the fish. My husband got a pasta dish with some sort of meat sauce. He complained that there was not enough meat. We both started with a good salad involving red and yellow beats and heart of palm -- except that the heart of palm on my salad (but not his) was too tough to cut. Although the restaurant was not crowded by the time we got there (Thursday at 8), they seemed to be very disorganized. After our salads we waited a very long time for our main courses. Unclear why. Making things worse, after we finished our salads, someone cleared everything off our table, including a little free tidbit of pate and some crackers that we were just starting to eat. Then we waited forever to get our desserts. At some point the waitress appeared and apologized (as she already had for the delay in getting the main course), saying that somehow only one of the desserts had actually been ordered. It took still more time before they actually appeared.
This was a restaurant week visit so the menu was somewhat restricted but with more choices than most.

When we got there the greeting was mediocre for us and somewhat enthusiastic for the large party behind us. They also got seated before us and there was a constant comment from the hostess who also served us saying "how was first bite?" We ordered off the menu eventhough there was a cheaper first bite option and her saying that was not appropriate. Also, the person clearing plates was not well trained. He kept our appetizer forks that were used, but replaced the small plates so we asked for new forks. The big bonus was our waiter, Jet and the person pouring water. This place used to be very buttoned up, but things have deteriorated. The food however was excellent!

Increase the communication between the servers and the kitchen (ie do not start the entrees until the table is at least half way through the salad/appetizers)...the main entree seemed to be put into in the warmer WAY too long before the appetizer course was finished.

Nice, quiet dining room, although the tables that were present seemed to be seated along the garden window despite plenty of room to be spaced apart in the entire dining room.

for not enquiring as to size when ordered. Considering the few people that were in there
for dinner, the service was slow between dishes but still excellent. We will return!

The location was great, but the food was not what I expect from a buffet brunch priced at $40 per person. Maybe it was because we showed up after noon, but that's no excuse. Chafing dishes were nearly empty, food was not being replenished fast enough, the porter house was salty and frankly, the whole meal was not worth it. I don't think I'll ever go there again for Sunday brunch. Maybe the food is better during dinner service.

This Sunday brunch buffet is a joke. I was reluctant to dine here after reading some negative reviews, but decided to try it out. What a mistake! I arrived for a noon reservation to find the buffet already missing several items. What dishes were available were not good. The oysters on the half shell were dry and warm, the "prime rib" was a tough a stringy cut of beef that I wouldn't give my dog. They were out of the Eggs Benedict for the first 45 minutes I was there. I inquired about them three times. When some finally came out they were disgusting: hard boiled eggs with congealed "hollandaise sauce". This set me back over $50. Save your money and go to any of a myriad of good local diners where the food is of good quality and freshly prepared
