Green Street Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Great ambience, quiet and romantic. Food was okay, gnocchi was superb but lamb was overcooked and tough. Took a while for food to come out. Benches are soft/comfortable but not firm enough to match the chairs so you end up significantly lower than the person you are sitting across from-- I had to fold up my jacket to sit on it. I am undecided about returning. Ambience is the best feature.
The food was excellent . We arrived early at 6 pm and the noise level was perfect. As the restaurant filled up , the noise level became unbearable. It is a small room and during high occupancy , I guess not the best place for a conversation. Staff was wonderful , service was great.
We went for brunch and no one was there. The brunch menu was actually quite tasty and well rounded. Definitely a romantic dinner place (which I've gone and it's lovely!). Took a group and it worked out well. The music was just oddly loud and didn't really fit the ambiance of the setting.
Had been here twice before. Once in the large dining room and twice in the front, more intimate dining. The large dining room is great for groups and is noisier. The front, smaller is good for couples and groups of four. Creative menu. Loved the Wild Boar meatloaf. Simply delicious. Bread pudding is a must.
Everyone really enjoyed lunch at Green Street Tavern. The service was attentive and a vegetarian, a total meat eater and a fish lover all found something tasty. I really liked the atmosphere. Small almost modern clubby with a bar. Thank you Dine LA for letting us try a new place that is now one of our favorites in Old Town.
We (2) stopped in for a late lunch and had the lunch specials (choice of salad and entree). We each got different salads and entrees. The salads were crisp and tasty. We ordered salmon and the chicken (sandwich). The salmon was cooked correctly to medium rare (allowing it to stay moist, as it should be) and very good. The "other" fillings in the sandwich complimented the chicken well.
Had been one of our favorites, but we were very disappointed this past visit. We were entertaining very good friends from Chicago, so thought we'd go someplace nice which we felt confident with. Only table offered to us was right next to the front door. Noisy and had smell of cigar bar next door. Waited about 15 to 20 minutes before anyone approached our table. Ordered food, appetizer plate was very dirty had to be sent back for clean one. Menu choices have changed and not to our liking. Bill came and was $180 for 4 of us, without tip. Bathroom was not available for a while due to "accident". Overall, this was not the experience we were hoping for us and our out-of-town guests. 2-Stars at best.
We were regulars at Green Street Tavern up until January 2017, when we had less than a satisfactory dinning experience. They recently hired new staff that was inexperienced and provided poor service. Other Open Table reviews in February confirmed our January experience.
We waited until June to try Green Street Tavern again. The service was much improved and the food was OK. But as other Open Table reviews have noted, OK food in Old Town Pasadena is not going to generate repeat diners. Since January we have found excellent new restaurants that are superior to Green Street Tavern. Therefore we are not recommending or returning to Green Street Tavern in the near future.
First time for all us and the food was average at most. I had the skirt steak and it was tasty but the side dish sauces did not complement the flavor. One was a melted type sourcream and the other some acidic tart tamarinf type paste. The others othered the salmón 2 only ate jñhalf and the other guest ate it all but without any complement about the food.
They ONLY have 2 mix drinks/cocktail and the rest is wine and beer. Not sure if i'll try this place again.
Not a good experience. Food offering for Mother's Day brunch was meh. Food not good value for money I paid. Manager was rude -- I reserved approx. one month & confirmed & was never informed we would have to sit out on side walk near a busy noisy street. It was also too windy for my aged mother. Mgr was rude.
