Birthday brunch for a small group of old people. We had good food and great service.
Green Street is a very popular restaurant, for good reason. The food is usually great and the service good. However, this was not the case on Sunday. The food was under cooked and the service was spotty, at best. I rarely have a reason to complain about GS, but this was not a good experience. We arrived before it was crowded, so there was no excuse for the food to have been rushed, nor the server to be MIA a lot of the time we were there. Very disappointed.
My husband and I chose Green Street Restaurant based on the number of stars it received on Open Table. While the food was good, it wasn't as good as the 4.5 star rating led me to believe. I ordered the grilled pork chop entree with chipotle-mashed sweet potatoes. My chop was very tough, so much so, that it was a struggle to cut it with a knife. My mash was hot in spots, but only lukewarm in others, which made me suspect they'd been microwaved from either room temperature or even frozen. They were, however, quite tasty.
My husband ordered the turkey tostada salad, which was very good, full of big chunks of oven-roasted turkey breast. We both appreciated the lack of a big, high-caloric fried tortilla shell. The tortilla strips interspersed in the salad were perfect.
I would go again, but next time, I'll try a different entree or choose a burger or salad instead. The zucchini bread served with the meal was delicious.
Delicious food and excellent customer service
We arrived on time for our reservation and were asked to wait, even though there were tables open. This is becoming a horrible trend among incompetent food service managers who are incapable of keeping proper time. It is a stain on an otherwise excellent restaurant review. The food was terrific. The service was impeccable, and the ambiance is delightfully quiet and upscale. The skirt steak was cooked to the proper point and covered with a surprisingly tart barbecue sauce. It matched well with the Jasmine rice and herbed asparagus. The Thai chicken and quinoa was also excellent, light and very savory. I recommend pairing the house cab with red meat, but first sip one of their marvelous old fashions. Mine was made with Maker's Mark and it was an appropriate throwback to a classier time.
They have the best salads in town. Great family restaurant and very consistent with food quality..
the food was very good with lots of choices for a variety of tastes
Our waiter was exclllent
Overall a great experience
Food was great as always. Our server was a little distracted. He didn’t have a ton of tables but maybe he was busy with side work or something. We’ve had him before and the same thing has happened. We waited for approx 7-8 mins before he even took our drink order.
We all have days were we are a little distracted or backed up.
We’ve coming here for many years and rarely if ever are we disappointed. Food is consistently good and service excellent! You definitely get value and palate satisfaction. Thanks for your high standards over the last 15-20 years we’ve been enjoying your restaurant.
Great food. Very good service. Our party appreciated having the breakfast menu available in the afternoon along with the regular menu.
We are regular patrons for dinner sometimes lunch and I’m sorry but breakfast was disappointing! Went there with fam for Easter brunch and my daughter and husband were let down by the “tasteless” food and kind of ruined the special occasion for us. Need major improvement...or we’ll just avoid your breakfast from now on.
Always great food and service!
Great tasting food in a comfortable environment. Generous salads and delicious sandwiches. Service is friendly and prompt, although parking is sometimes a challenge on the weekends. Green Street is a place I love for either breakfast, lunch or dinner - its all good. Fair prices. Overall highly recommend if you are in the Pasadena area.
Great food as always! New steak on the menu was excellent.
We loved eating our yummy and casual dinner out on the deck!
I left a message on the Open Table site saying this was a Birthday celebration.
I mentioned it to the server, who said" good to know".
Very disappointing was it was never acknowledged, by the restaurant or server.
Food was okay. Never asked if we wanted more coffee. I will do take out, but never eat there, for dinner and will not recommend.
Green Street has been a local go-to for many years. The food is always wonderful, fresh and a lot of it. The Diane Salad has been a favorite for years, but everything is good. Love sitting outside, but today, there was some construction going on a across the way, which ruined the ambience a bit. After the remodel, I find the inside to be noisier, so don't prefer to eat indoors.
Green Street is iconic; I went many times before moving out of state. The Dianne salad, especially half lettuce/half kale, is superb. I was inside but outside dining looked fun. We went early--11:00--and that was fine. Thirty minutes or so later it filled up, and the noise level was incredibly high. The rating choices above are disingenuous; the level was far beyond moderate; energetic is fine but having to strain continually to hear one's companion(s) is not enjoyable. Go for the food but be forewarned.
I had reserved table 34 . However they had a large party of 20 to fill that area where table 34 was located. The host and hostess were so nice and handled the situation extremely well, it was a pleasure. Also the waitress that took care of us was extremely good.
I eat most of my meals in restaurants and I find Geen Street to be one of my favorite restaurants. The food is good and the staff makes you feel like home.
I always enjoy Green Street restaurant. The staff is friendly, the food is great, and the service is superior. I highly recommend it.
Great food and drinks. Wish there was a bit more food selection.
Everything started off really well - our primary waiter - James was great ! He was professional, courteous, friendly and attentive. When the food arrived, we asked these other servers for additional condiments & re-fills of our drinks & hummm ...they were a wee bit surly. The woman in particular was by her facial expression- not at all happy with our requests. Thankfully James reappeared & was responsive and treated us great for the rest of our meal. I do have to mention, we were celebrating two birthdays at our table & I think a small treat from Green Street would have been very nice & welcome!
Green Street Restaurant sits on the alley behind busy Lake Avenue in Pasadena, so it's a bit hard to find. But it's worth the search. On warmish nights, the outdoor patio is full of happy diners. The interior is decorated in a pleasing modern style. The bar is separated from the dining area only by a half-wall. I've dined here twice and both times the food and service have been outstanding. On this occasion, our waiter Zach went out of his way to make useful suggestions about beverages and was attentive but not intrusive. There are many excellent restaurants in Pasadena, and this is one of them.
Great service and selections. Excellent food.
Diane salad never fails. Can't get tired of this best salad ever after discovering it over 10 years ago. Zucchini bread accompanying the salad is also wonderful.
We had the Diane salad & the Southwest chicken Caesar. Both were very good. We had one cocktail each plus we got luncheon sized salads and the bill was $72 including tip - kinda expensive for what we got. Still, food is high quality and patio is a nice setting.
I went in expecting to get the wonderful Cornucopia salad that I've enjoyed many times, but was swayed by the quinoa sweet potato smoked salmon hash with poached eggs on top. Glad I did. Excellent choice. Perfect size. Very tasty.
And of course the zucchini bread was as good as ever.
Green Street East has always been a wonderful restaurant. The major draw back is the parking
situation. Really, is parking Free on Sundays?
Everything was great!!
Green Street was the perfect place to have a ladies luncheon!! Great food, options for all and nice ambience!! I always love the fan favorite the Dianne Salad!!
My friend and I had loved the smashed chipotle sweet potatoes & zucchini bread - it was our cheat night
Delicious food and excellent customer service
Took my college age children out to this Pasadena classic. Always a good meal at Green Street.
Great service and good food so you cannot go wrong. Not ideal if you want to eat and run so make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy your meal.
We followed up a delicious Sunday breakfast with an equally delicious dinner at this very quaint restaurant. Green Street is a neighborhood gem, a great find for healthy and delicious food. The service is impeccable, the cocktails are as good as they get in any dining situation, and the ambiance is a bit of reserved, respectable old Pasadena. We will definitely choose this place for casual, day to day dining.
The quality of the food and the service is always consistent. If I lived closer (I reside in Burbank), I would definitely eat here once a week. The only negative issue is having to pay for parking. At $1.00 every 20 minutes, it gets expensive.
Great food and amazing service.
Perfect. Diane’s salad is the BEST!
First time to Green Street.
Good access for my husband who uses a crutch.
Excellent and personable service.
Great food especially the vegetarian entree.
We will be back!
